PUNE: In the present scenario of Coronavirus pandemic, seeing the urgent requirement for face masks for hospitals, Chairperson Maa Krishna Kashyap & all Trustees of Punyadham Ashram (A Project of Vishwa Jagriti Mission Trust, Pune) took on the noble initiative to provide masks to Sassoon Hospital Pune and Army hospitals.
But it was not an easy task to produce handmade masks on such a large scale, especially for senior citizens and staff of Punyadham Ashram. So each one took upon themselves one task and started in great earnest. One team measured and cut the fabric of the required size for a mask (as per the size specifications given by Sassoon Hospital).
The next team was given the task of stitching them. They were then washed, rinsed in disinfectant and dried in sun. Another team was busy ironing them and packaging them for despatch.
Punyadham also sought the assistance of local women groups of Kondhwa-Pisoli who happily obliged because they earned money during these trying times! The task which seemed a herculean one became efficient, quick and effective.
Another positive aspect is that everyone was gainfully employed, which helped to divert their minds and gave them all so much happiness for pitching in to make a difference! 1000 masks were handed over with blessings from Maa Krishna Kashyap by Ramesh Grover and Vijay Birmal to the SDO, Dr. Harish in Sassoon Hospital, Pune.
This is a noble initiative taken by Punyadham Ashram to contribute in their own small way to support the fight against the deadly Coronavirus.
