DOHA, Qatar, February 19, 2019: Qatar Airways is pleased to be flying leading Bollywood actress and global celebrity icon – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in style for the grand opening of the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition, the luxury jewellery and watches exhibition will take place between 20 and 25 February 2019 at the Doha Exhibition and Conference Centre (DECC). The award-winning airline is also the Official Airline Partner for the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition, an unforgettable event where glamour meets luxury.
The spectacular exhibition will also feature a dedicated Indian Pavilion where the latest and finest jewellery designed by well-known Indian designers will be showcased. These exquisite and intricate designed jewellery pieces will reflect the strong heritage and exceptional craftsmanship of the nation of India. The pavilion is also featured at a significant time as both the nations of Qatar and India continue to celebrate the Qatar-India Year of Culture 2019.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is an acclaimed Bollywood actress and has successfully established herself as one of the most influential celebrities in India and the world. Rai was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012. She has often been cited in the media as “the most beautiful woman in the world” and was the first Indian actress to represent her country as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival.
A frontrunner in the global jewellery market, the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition is open to all jewellery and watch connoisseurs, and provides an unmissable opportunity for guests to engage with brands and designers in an exclusive atmosphere. The exhibition will also welcome several international newcomers to the 2019 edition including Tiffany & Co. and L’Atelier du Bracelet Parisien. These international luxury brands will join other major market players such as Bulgari which returns to display its collection of fine Italian jewellery and watches.
Visitors to the exhibition will also have the opportunity to exclusively experience Qatar Airways’ award-winning Business Class seat, Qsuite, which will be on display at the show. Qsuite features the industry’s first-ever double bed in Business Class and allows passengers in adjoining seats to create their own private space. Adjustable panels and movable TV monitors enable colleagues, friends or families travelling together to transform their quad into a private suite, allowing them to work, dine and socialise together.
Qatar Airways introduced its revolutionary Qsuite Business Class experience on the Mumbai and Bengaluru routes in July 2018, both of which are served by a Boeing B777 aircraft, in India. In February 2018, the award-winning airline introduced its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 on its Delhi route. Qatar Airways was the global launch customer for this aircraft, which features a two-class configuration of 283 seats in total, offering 36 in Business Class and 247 in Economy Class.
Qatar Airways currently operates 102 weekly flights between Doha and 13 destinations in India including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Nagpur and Thiruvananthapuram.
