Reaction of State Budget – Mr. Pramod Chaudhari, President, MCCIA
This is an Agri based budget wherein effort is made to strengthen the rural base and farmers. Efforts are being made to strengthen the State Road Transportation Corporation to support and help farmers to transport perishable items to the market. This in turn well also, earn revenue for the transport corporation. Allocation of Rs 1500 crores has been made for water supply to strengthen the irrigation to the farmers. Also Rs.60 crores has been allocated to the irrigation department. In the process effort is being made to make 5000 villages in Maharashtra drought free. 35.68 lakh farmers have been given a loan waiver. The mandate is to double the income of farmers. How this will be achieved is yet to be seen.
Supportive policies have been introduced for Skill Development and Incubation Centers. We were looking forward to same concrete measures to support the SMEs and Manufacturing Units. However there has been no cognizance taken on this sector.
Reaction of State Budget- Dr Anant Sardeshmukh, Director General, MCCIA
Maharashtra budget 2018-19 has also major emphasis on Agriculture and rural development . The most positive elements of Maharashtra budget are some considerations to start ups , incubation centers, skill Development initiatives . An amount of Rs. 5000 crores earmarked for creation of 15 incubation centres is indeed a good move which should see the reality in next one year . This initiative needs the help of industry and I am sure government will consider this. Another positive and first time initiative of 80% grant for seeking registration of patent internationally is a good thing indeed.
IT integration of state universities is indeed a very positive step. Setting up 6 skilled universities in PPP mode good but needs a robust policy expeditious implementation. Economic growth slowdown is cause of concern for increasing growth further intensive pursuance of Magnetic Maharashtra is a necessity . Attracting investment needs more proactive policies. Offer hand to existing units to expand their facilities.
