One of India’s most popular folk bands The Raghu Dixit Project and singer-songwriter Dhruv Visvanath will play atop the bus at SIBM College in Pune on 21st November
Pune, 18th November, 2016: After a hugely successful north tour and a return to Mumbai for its annual birthday bash, Off The Roof, the Red Bull Tour Bus is now on its final tour of the year, through the western region of the country. Beginning at BITS Pilani in Goa on the 5th of November with aswekeepsearching and The F16s, the bus now moves on to Ahmedabad tonight, and will wind up the tour in Pune on the 21st of November. Ahmedabad will see Parvaaz and Indian Ocean return to play atop the bus, while Pune will host singer-songwriter Dhruv Visvanath and among India’s most popular contemporary folk music bands, The Raghu Dixit Project.
Undoubtedly one of the country’s most popular bands today, The Raghu Dixit Project combines traditional Indian folk music beautifully with elements of rock, Arabic, Latino and reggae, for a sound that transcends borders. The band has played at venues across the world, including at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in 2012, Glastonbury Festival and Alchemy Festival at the Southbank Centre, London.
A solo percussive acoustic guitarist, Delhi-based Dhruv Visvanath has often been hailed as a one-man band, courtesy his ability to play the guitar like a drum, whilst singing simultaneously. He was named one of the 30 Great Guitarists Under 30 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine – the only Indian on the list – and released his debut album Orion, a mammoth, 14-track effort, last year to much acclaim.
