Boston, Mass.: RoamingAround’s Location Based Marketing solution was recently announced as a finalist for “Best Mobile Travel Solution” 2016 at EyeforTravel’s Mobile & Innovation in Travel conference in San Francisco. Now in its 5th year, EyeforTravel’s Mobile Innovation in Travel Awards were created to recognize the important role that mobile technology is playing in inspiring, engaging and converting customers.

By landing in the Top 3, RoamingAround was thrust into elite company with previous EyeforTravel finalists, including: KLM, TripAdvisor, Marriott, Hotels.com, BEST WESTERN, IHG, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Worldmate, Silvercar, Hotwire, Checkmate, BookAssist and more.
“Becoming a finalist for the Best Mobile Travel Solution award from EyeforTravel is a real honor,” said Michael Gambino, RoamingAround chief location officer. “There was significant competition from among the mobile ‘who’s who’ in travel. Contestants were given five minutes to present their solutions to the expert EyeforTravel panel of judges and an enlightened audience that consisted of the greatest minds from across the travel and mobile industries.
“The enthusiastic feedback we received from the presentation was phenomenal,” Gambino said. “Attendees were particularly impressed with our solution’s location based ordering that involves integrating mobile apps with beacons and applying a complex algorithm known as trilateration. The end result is the ability for hotel staff to deliver food and beverage anywhere on premise, whether it be by the pool, on a patio or in the lobby. Location based ordering impresses hotel guests and the ‘techiest’ mobile experts alike. Everyone agrees that this Location Based Marketing solution is solving a challenge while improving customer service. Geolocation is not a fancy theory – it’s a real, practical solution.”
An Eye for the Future
The “Best Mobile Travel Solution” award was based on an evaluation of factors affecting the overall experience for users on the go, including: usefulness, usability, strategy, speed, performance, innovation, and integration. The solution also was required to address how mobile consumer behavior might evolve in the near future.
“My only regret is that we didn’t have six minutes to present the infinite possibilities of the platform,” Gambino joked. “We already launched beta versions of our two-way messaging
solution that gives hotels the ability to react and respond in real time to guests’ needs. Our responsive digital signage software also is garnering great interest, and we are carving out a unique niche in being among the first to complement digital signage with Geolocation to deliver personalized content and interactivity. The best is yet to come.”
