Pune: Round Table India, an organisation aimed at providing quality school infrastructure across the country, has partnered with Coca-Cola India for its Support My School (SMS) program. The program which is closely aligned to the government’s ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign, has impacted close to 7705 students of 32 schools in Maharashtra. In its continued efforts, Round Table India in association with Coca-Cola India has inaugurated Vidya Vikas Mandir Govt. School, Aandhgaon under the SMS program on Children’s Day. The school will be provided with the basic infrastructure like school boundaries, separate toilets for boys and girls, clean drinking water and playgrounds.
The SMS initiative will also help the Aandhgaon school in revamping its sports amenities through plantation drive for the playground and other recreational facilities for the students. The SMS program will impact around 400 students studying in Vidya Vikas Mandir Govt. School.
Under the SMS initiative students also made postcards sharing their views of ‘My Pretty School’ and expressing their gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for running the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign in India. The school inauguration day also observed painting competition and tree plantation by the school kids.
Support My School is a WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) initiative that aims to improve basic amenities in government schools like separate toilets for boys and girls and access to water. The Campaign is also committed to developing the overall infrastructure like playground and a clean environment to encourage a holistic learning environment. The campaign, in its first 4 years, has already revitalized 600 schools in 22 states across the country impacting nearly 200,000 students. The Schools revitalized under the campaign have served as model schools in several districts and have led to enhanced community engagement and higher emphasis on attendance and enrolment. Going forward, Support My School initiative will scale up its effort to touch 1000 schools by 2017.
