An RTI query reveals 5,55,137 people have been fined for not wearing helmets while riding two-wheeler and Pune traffic division has collected more than 5.6cr fine for the same. Claims RTI activist Prafful Sarda on the basis of a RTI reply he has received from Pune Traffic Department.
Prafful Sarda, owner of an Event management company & well known RTI activist had filed an RTI application with the Pune traffic division to know how many people have fined for not wearing helmets and how much fine is collected from “January 2014 to July 2016”
”Wearing helmets while riding is very important and that also keep us safe if major accident takes place. Each one of us aware the importance of life but when it comes to helmet why are we so casual about it? Hope very soon each one of us will start using helmet while riding two- wheeler Said Prafful.”
