New Delhi: Indian doubles specialist Sania Mirza on Wednesday admitted that winning French Open will be the “toughest” of the four Slam tournaments.
Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis have won the last three Grand Slam tournaments, and will enter the Roland Graros event this May as the favourites. But the Indian ace is aware of the flaws in their clay court game.
“I hope that the chances are bright, considering we won the last three grand slams. But it is going to be our toughest Grand Slam to win. It is not our favourite surface. But we are doing whatever we can and hopefully we can get that ‘Santina’ slam, so to say,” she told reporters.
The Indo-Swiss pair’s 41-match winning streak came to a halt after top-ranked doubles team went down fighting in the quarterfinals of the Qatar Open last week to Russian duo of Elena Vesnina and Daria Kasatkina.
Sania, who was speaking at an event organised by Telangana Tourism, said Hingis, who plays for Hyderabad in Vijay Amritraj-promoted Champions Tennis League, likes Hyderabad and Indian food very much, with biryani being her favourite.
