GURGAON, November 21, 2016: SpiceJet, the country’s favourite low-cost carrier, today announced that it has achieved the best On-time Performance (OTP) of 86.1% among all the Indian carriers for October 2016 as per the recently released statistics by DGCA. SpiceJet also registered the highest Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of 91.9%; the best among industry peers for 18 consecutive months.

With OTP score of 89.7%, 72.9% and 88.5% in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru respectively SpiceJet topped the OTP charts at the country’s busiest airports. The airline registered an OTP of 89.9% in Hyderabad. This is also the fourth month in a row that the airline has topped the OTP charts in Mumbai, a feat unparalleled among its peers.

On-Time Performance is the primary internationally accepted standard measured by comparing the actual off-block time (when aircraft pushes back) against the airline schedule time for a departing flight. The measurement is done in accordance with the IATA (International Airlines Transport Association) universal standard benchmark.

Passenger load factor, or load factor, measures the capacity utilization of an airline and is normally used to evaluate how efficiently the player has filled seats and generated fare revenue.

DGCA computes On-Time Performance (OTP) of scheduled domestic airlines for four metro airports of Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
