Pune: Guardian Minister Girish Bapat inaugurated state of art Nephroplus dialysis center and upgraded intensive care unit at ACE Hospital at Erandwane Pune . MLA Medha Kulkarni , Ace Hospital Chairman Dr Suresh Patankar, Pawan Shetty Business Development Manager Nephro Plus , Ankush kakade, Dr Satish Desai , Prashant Badhe, Sharad Ranpise , Madhavi Sahasrabuddhe were present on the occasion At a special function organized by ACE Hospital .Kidney Donors Ramchandra Khilare and NoorJahan Pathan who have donated their kidneys and undergone 3D Laparoscopy for transplant were felicitated on the occasion.
Girish Bapat said that healthcare is an important part of Smart City . It is important that people in the smart city are healthy and fit . The success of any medical unit does not depend on how big the building is but what services are being offered to the patients. As a part of their services, hospital should also do counseling of patient’s relatives to bring in some positivity during difficult times.
Medha Kulkarni said that it is indeed appreciable that Ace Hospital is doing extensive research on traditional forms of medicine to incorporate it in modern science. Doctors are like Gods who give a second life to ailing patients. While doing so Doctors must look at their profession as a way of service rather than business .
Dr Suresh Patankar said that me and my wife started with 2 bed small medical unit at Laxmi Road . Later on we converted our private practice into a trust and have now a 101 bed capacity multi specialty hospital at Erandwane near Mehendale garage .
He added that with increasing incidence of renal ailments in the country, there is an urgent need for easy access to quality dialysis. This is the reason why we wanted to start a NephroPlus center at our hospital. They are spearheading a change in the way kidney care is done in India .The center along with the rich legacy of ACE Hospital will be a one stop solution for all of a patient’s needs related to kidney and urological problems .
The modernized and upgraded ICU unit is now equipped with state of art monitoring system and three ultra modern Ventilators.
He said that we have been hailed by the state government with a certificate for implementing Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana successfullyand performing 3D nephrectomies consistently at Ace Hosptial .
Pawan Shetty Business Development Manager Nephroplus said whenever anybody has to start undergoing dialysis , a lot of negativity is built in the patients and relatives mind that this may be the end of life. But it is not , it should be looked at as a part of life and they should be motivated rather than demoralized . Many a times patients end up with cross infections after dialysis . We have conducted almost 1,50,000 dialysis sessions last year with no infection. We have introduced a zero infection point kit which makes sure that every patient has an individual kit which includes scissors, banded and other medical material. Even the bed sheets and washing material is different . The four bed dialysis center at Ace Hospital is our 3rd in Pune and 8th in Maharashtra, With 69 units nationally we want to reach 500 dialysis centers for which we have collaborated with the world bank. We want to make dialysis more affordable for common people.
