Karjat-Jamkhed Integrated Development Foundation, an initiative of NCP MLA Rohit Pawar launched at Hadapsar
PUNE: “I have traveled extensively across India and around the world and have seen many beautiful temples, forts, and safaris. Oddly, all such tourism spots exist in Maharashtra but unfortunately, they remain unexplored. Development of tourism in Maharashtra is the need of the hour and I think the development of Karjat-Jamkhed will serve as an example,” said Aditya Thackeray, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maharashtra. He was speaking during the launch of the Karjat-Jamkhed Integrated Development Foundation (KJIDF) today at Laxmi Lawns, Magarpatta, Hadapsar.
A brainchild of NCP MLA Rohit Pawar, the foundation will focus on the development of several sectors including Tourism, Education, Health, Water Conservation, and Women Empowerment through shared efforts of Government, Public and Private enterprise.
Dignitaries including Rajendra and Sunanda Pawar, Aditi Tatkare, State Minister of Tourism, Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, Nagraj Manjule, Film Director, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Entrepreneur, Arvind Jagtap, Writer and Poet and Milind Gunaji, Actor was present at the event.
Several MLAs from various constituencies from Pune and Mumbai were also present.
“We have to create a new Maharashtra. We need a visionary for Maharashtra and in Rohit Pawar, we have found one. The donation drive for Karjat Jamkhed started by Pawar is a good initiative as it will help his constituency from all sectors,” said Thackeray.
With primary efforts taken towards the development of the constituency, a Karjat-Jamkhed taluka logo which will be placed as a brand for investors and tourists was launched during the event along with a website, which will provide a platform for CSR funding and for all enterprises to come together and work in unison for the development of the region. Additionally, a theme song of the foundation was also unveiled at the event along with a teaser of web-series that will have 6 episodes on 22 tourist locations of the constituency.
To take the development work forward and receive aid, the foundation has signed an MOU with two of India’s premier institutes including the Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) and IIT Bombay. Priya Jadhav and Bakulrao from IIT Powai and Dr. Kalpana Dixit from TISS signed the MOU on behalf of their institutions. The foundation has also launched an office ‘Srujan House’ at Bhosle Nagar, Hadapsar.
Speaking at the event, Rohit Pawar said, “There are 28 tourist spots and 35 temples in Karjat Jamkhed, which we have to develop with the aid of government and public enterprises. Some leaders create walls to hide poverty in their states but we don’t want to do that. Instead, we want to utilize our resources and make our state the best place to live.”
Aditi Tatkare said, “Every person has a vision and the vision of Rohit Pawar will not only develop the region but will also improve the lives of the people there, which is appreciative.”
Nagraj Manjule said, “Directors and producers nowadays go to various locations to shoot films but do not prefer Maharashtra, which has many natural places, old temples, and wells, which are ideal for film shooting. If these locales are preserved then Maharashtra can become as beautiful as Switzerland and Kashmir.”
Milind Gunaji said, “The development of Karjat-Jamkhed will be advantageous to the rest of Maharashtra, which has lots of potentials to grow in all sectors.
