– Maharashtra Medical Council certified the over a 100 participants who attended the workshop –
Pune, 7th June 2017: Surya Sahyadri Hospitals on 28th May 2017 conducted a live surgery workshop for over 100 general surgeons from across the state of Maharashtra. The live surgeries were performed as a part of an academic training. A total of 7 Hernia Surgeries were performed including complicated procedures and techniques. The surgeries were performed by renowned surgeons from Mumbai & Pune and were live broadcasted from Surya Sahyadri Hospitals Operation Theatre to Institute of Engineers Auditorium at Shivajinagar . The initiative was applauded by the Maharashtra Medical Council, who has also decided to award the surgeons with 2 MMC points and a participation certificate. The workshop was also attended by Dr Prakash Marathe, President, Indian Medical Association Pune (IMA) as the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) Observer.
The brainchild behind initiating this series of Live Surgical workshops in Pune, Dr. Jaisingh Shinde, General Surgeon, Sahyadri Hospitals said, “Live training workshop helps surgeons to get a close experience which will help them improve their skills. Hernia is a common disorder among Indians. Knowledge about advancements in techniques and procedures are necessary while performing these surgeries.”
The pioneering initiative also included lectures from experts on various techniques available at the hospital. The screening also highlighted the hospitals centre which is equipped with comprehensive medical unit and highly advanced operation theatre. Dr. Subodh Pandit, General Surgeon from Pune, one of the 100+ surgeons who attended the workshop emphasized that said “This Live Surgery workshop on hernia was very beneficial for all General surgeons as well as Students. This is a one-of-its-kind workshop which is conducted on various different themes in General & Laparoscopic Surgery, every year in Pune”.
