Our Health ATM concept is designed to bridge this critical gap—bringing over 65 rapid diagnostic tests to the doorsteps of rural citizens,” he said.

These AI-enabled Health ATMs can perform a wide array of health checks—from routine vitals and blood pressure to advanced screenings for diabetes, cardiac conditions, hemoglobin levels, and infectious diseases like dengue, malaria, COVID-19, and HIV. Reports are generated instantly, ensuring timely medical consultation through telemedicine, even in remote regions.

Manashrri Agarwal, Co-founder & Managing Director of Clinics on Cloud, stated, “Our goal is to make preventive healthcare accessible, affordable, and accurate for every Indian, regardless of location. These Health ATMs have an accuracy rate of over 95% and operate at a fraction of the cost of traditional labs.”

In a unique collaboration with distribution partner DynaBlaze, Clinics on Cloud has engineered the Health ATMs to function without the need for electricity or internet, making them perfectly suited for deployment in electricity-deficient rural zones. The machines are available through EMI and rental options, also creating local employment opportunities by training health operators in villages.

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Deputy Governor Shri T. Rabi Sankar today announced the launch of product offerings aimed at transforming the ATM infrastructure in the country. Unveiled in association with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024, the initiatives include UPI Interoperable Cash Deposit (UPI-ICD) and banks showcasing Digital Banking Units (DBUs).

The introduction of UPI ICD allows customers to deposit cash at ATMs operated by banks and white-label ATM operators (WLAOs) using UPI to their bank account or any other bank account without the need for a physical card. These ATMs are cash recycler machines that are used for both cash deposits and withdrawals. Leveraging their mobile numbers linked to UPI, virtual payment addresses (VPA), and account IFSCs, customers can now make cash deposits, making the process more seamless, inclusive, and accessible. Consumers will be able to access these features as the banks gradually roll them out.

ATMs with open architecture can host bank apps positioning them as DBUs offering cash deposits, withdrawals, and other banking services such as opening bank accounts, applying for credit cards, initiating fixed deposits, applying for safe deposit lockers, etc.

Additionally, today at the GFF 2024, Shri Vivek Deep, Executive Director, RBI announced the rebranding of the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) to Bharat Connect. This is an important step to refresh and strengthen the BBPS brand. Bharat Connect embodies NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited’s (NBBL’s) values and vision for stakeholders and customers, going beyond a bill payment system to create an ecosystem that connects individuals and businesses, through an integrated platform.

The launches took place in the presence of Shri Ajay Kumar Choudhary, Non-Executive Chairman and Independent Director, NPCI.

The Health ATM is a touch-screen kiosk designed by Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) to manage health-related information. It operates as a cloud-based clinic that offers automated health screening and immediate diagnostic reports, allowing individuals to access their health records online.

This project aims to provide community-level screening for anemia, diabetes, and hypertension, as well as telemedicine services to rural residents. Currently Rotary has funded the program for about 30,000 people to get checked for two parameters sugar and haemoglobin. A common person has to stand on the application enter his or her mobile number and do the tests. A technician will be available currently to assist the people. The program will be extended to the Community Health Research Unit in Manchar in about a month. This project will be useful in rural areas where accessibility to diagnostics and healthcare professionals is still a challenge.
