<p class="has-text-align-center" style="font-size:24px"><em>GUVNL project marks ENGIE’s entry into utility‑scale storage in India, strengthening Its Role in India’s Clean Energy Future</em></p>



<p><strong>GUJARAT:</strong> ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, today announced a major milestone in its India journey with the successful award of 280 MW / 2 hrs of battery storage capacity in the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) auction. Part of the 2 GW / 4 GWh national tender, this represents one of the largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) allocations in the country to date and marks ENGIE’s formal entry into utility-scale storage in India. With this award, ENGIE’s India portfolio now reaches approximately 2.75 GW, strengthening its role as a long-term partner in enabling India’s 500 GW clean energy ambition and accelerating the shift toward firm, future-ready renewable power.</p>



<p>This project comes at a pivotal moment for India’s renewable and storage sector. As solar and wind capacity scale rapidly, the country needs large-format storage systems that can deliver clean power on demand, reduce curtailment, and enhance grid stability. ENGIE’s GUVNL BESS project will help address peak loads, enable smoother 24/7 renewable integration, and support the next phase of India’s grid modernisation.</p>



<p>Globally, ENGIE has set an ambition of deploying <strong>95 GW of renewable and storage installed capacity by 2030</strong>. <strong>The Group already operates</strong> <strong> 55 GW</strong> and has <strong>6 GW under construction</strong>, bringing deep technological expertise and operational maturity to India’s evolving storage market. <p><strong>PUNE: </strong>Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd (PVPL), a 100% subsidiary of the Italian auto giant Piaggio Group and a pioneer in small passenger and commercial vehicles in India, has announced an exclusive partnership with RiseWise Capital, a leading fintech firm specialising in custom mobility financing. Through this collaboration, Piaggio introduces a first-of-its-kind battery replacement financing programme for its electric three-wheeler (3W) customers, making EV ownership more accessible and affordable.</p>



<p>This pioneering initiative offers up to 100% financing for battery replacement after three to four years of vehicle use, covering customers across RiseWise Capital’s operational areas &#8211; <strong>Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Karnataka</strong>. It will gradually expand to other parts of India. With this partnership, Piaggio and RiseWise aim to ensure that customer fleets run smoothly while maintaining a positive turnover rate without incurring battery expenses or downtime.</p>



<p>This pioneering initiative allows Piaggio electric three-wheeler customers to replace their batteries after three to four years of vehicle use with 100% financing for the new battery. The program is designed to make EV ownership affordable and operationally seamless, addressing one of the key concerns for commercial EV operators: <b>the cost of battery replacement</b>. Customers can avail the financing through authorized Piaggio 3W dealers, with repayment structured upto 24 months at an affordable and reasonable interest rate, using the vehicle as collateral. This ensures that businesses can maintain fleet uptime, continue operations efficiently, and manage cash flow without the financial burden of an expensive battery replacement.</p>

<p>Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, residential households are eligible for central subsidies <strong>of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, and ₹18,000 per kW for the next 1 kW, with a total subsidy capped at ₹78,000 for systems above 3 kW. </strong>To further ease adoption, Tata Power Solaroof has partnered with 15 leading financial institutions, such as SBI, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, and Indian Bank, to provide accessible loan options for Residential Customers.</p>



<p>As of July 2025, Tata Power Solaroof has achieved a cumulative installed rooftop solar capacity of 775 MWp in Maharashtra catering to catering to 27,910 customers, and is targeting an additional 800 MW over the next three years. In Pune, where the company already has a robust presence with 200 MW of installed capacity, plans are underway to add a further 250 MW within the same period, reinforcing its commitment to accelerating clean energy adoption in the state.</p>

<p><strong>GURUGRAM:</strong> VinFast Auto India, the subsidiary of global electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast, has entered into a strategic agreement with BatX Energies, a leading Indian clean-tech company specializing in battery recycling, rare metal recovery, and end-of-life battery repurposing. This partnership lays the foundation for an integrated battery value chain in India, supporting the company’s commitment to sustainable electric mobility.</p>



<p>Under the agreement, BatX Energies will provide comprehensive high-voltage (HV) battery recycling, material recovery, and repurposing services for VinFast India’s factory and after-sales operations. The process will ensure the efficient recovery and reintegration of critical materials, such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel, into the battery production cycle. This approach supports resource circularity, reduces dependence on mining, and significantly lowers environmental impact.</p>



<p>The collaboration aims to drive localized solutions in line with India&#8217;s fast-evolving EV landscape. Through a joint focus on battery lifecycle management and environmental stewardship, VinFast and BatX aim to deliver scalable and sustainable solutions that benefit both people and the planet.</p>



<p>More than a technical collaboration, this partnership is a shared commitment to accelerating India’s transition to a cleaner, greener tomorrow.&nbsp;The agreement also opens avenues for future collaboration on second-life applications, urban mining, and strategic material recovery, supporting India and Vietnam’s growing leadership in circular economy solutions. BatX will also ensure traceability of the raw materials and battery recycling.</p>

<p><strong>MUMBAI: </strong>In a significant step toward advancing sustainable energy solutions, MIT-World Peace University (MIT-WPU) has launched a state-of-the-art battery fabrication and research facility focused on lithium-ion (Li-ion) and sodium-ion (Na-ion) technologies. This pioneering initiative, established for the first time by a private state university, is aligned with national missions such as <em>Atmanirbhar Bharat</em> and <em>Make in India</em>, aiming to contribute meaningfully to India’s energy independence.</p>



<p>The facility is designed for end-to-end battery development, featuring comprehensive in-house capabilities ranging from active material synthesis to coin cell fabrication and electrochemical performance evaluation. The MIT-WPU research team is actively engaged in the development of advanced electrode materials to enhance key battery performance parameters, including energy density, cycling stability, and operational safety. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to develop next-generation solid-state electrolytes (SSEs), focusing on materials with high ionic conductivity and thermal stability. These SSEs offer safer and more efficient alternatives to conventional liquid electrolytes, marking a significant leap in energy storage technology.</p>



<p>Innovative approaches such as the use of glass-polymer composite electrolytes and the development of paper-based batteries are also being explored. Additionally, the facility has initiated work on the synthesis of high-purity solvents and electrolytes for Li-ion batteries, an important step toward supporting Indian battery manufacturers with high-quality raw materials.</p>



<p>Equipped with the latest tools and instrumentation, the facility supports both academic research and collaborative projects with industry and research institutions, helping translate cutting-edge ideas into scalable, real-world solutions. Soon, the facility will also be equipped to manufacture cylindrical and prismatic cells, expanding its capabilities for a wider range of battery applications.</p>



<p><strong>Prof. Dr. Bharat Kale, Director, Centre of Excellence in Materials Science at MIT-WPU and former Director of C-MET, MeitY, Govt. of India, MIT-WPU, said:</strong> <em>“The launch of this state-of-the-art battery fabrication and research facility marks a major milestone in MIT-WPU’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy technologies. As the first such initiative by a private state university in India, it aligns with national missions like Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, aiming to strengthen India’s energy independence. With end-to-end capabilities—from material synthesis to cell fabrication and electrochemical evaluation—we’re developing advanced electrode materials and solid-state electrolytes for safer, more efficient lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries,</em> and lithium-sulfur as well.  The group is also working on paper batteries in collaboration with MID Sweden.<em> This facility not only fosters academic and industry collaboration but also serves as a vital platform for training future talent. With greater support from national funding agencies like ANRF and others, private institutions like ours can significantly contribute to India’s clean energy future.”</em></p>



<p>Beyond research and innovation, the facility is committed to nurturing future talent. It serves as a dynamic platform to train engineering and science students and offers exciting opportunities for Ph.D. scholars and researchers to pursue advanced work in battery technologies.</p>

<p><strong>CHAKAN:</strong> Hindalco Industries Ltd., the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group and one of the world’s largest aluminium companies, today announced the successful delivery of 10,000 aluminium battery enclosures for automotive major Mahindra’s state-of-the-art e-SUVs – BE 6 and XEV 9e, marking a significant development in India’s clean mobility journey. The company also unveiled its state-of-the-art dedicated EV component manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune—India’s premier automotive manufacturing hub. This marks a significant milestone in India’s clean mobility journey, with the two companies joining forces to accelerate the electrification of India’s automotive industry.</p>



<p>The facility, built with a capital investment of ₹ 500 crores and spread across 5 acres within an industrial park, represents Hindalco’s foray into EV component manufacturing and is designed to cater to the growing demand for lightweight, crash-resistant battery solutions. The facility is designed to meet the rising demand for lightweight, crash-resistant battery enclosures in the country, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility. It currently can produce 80,000 enclosures annually, with plans to scale up to 160,000 units. As of today, over 3,000 Mahindra EVs using these aluminium battery packs are already on Indian roads.</p>

<p>The battery enclosure co-developed with Mahindra offers up to 40% weight reduction over traditional steel designs, enabling 8–10% improvement in the vehicle’s driving range, enhanced crash safety, and significantly improved thermal management for battery cooling. Additionally, these enclosures also use low-carbon aluminium, underscoring Hindalco’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.</p>



<p>The Chakan facility is expected to generate up to 1,000 jobs and aligns strongly with the government’s ‘Make in India’ vision to reduce dependence on imports. Another key highlight of the plant is its gender-diverse workforce, with nearly 100% women machine operators, a rarity in the manufacturing sector, demonstrating Hindalco’s strong commitment to inclusivity.</p>



<p>With this milestone, Hindalco plans to scale similar capabilities for other Indian and global OEMs, expanding its aluminium offerings to include structural and crash-relevant parts for both EVs and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.</p>



<p>As India’s EV value chain matures, the demand for battery-grade aluminium and associated components is expected to surge,&nbsp;driven by the rapid growth of giga-factories and localised cell manufacturing. Hindalco’s investment in future-focused capabilities is a strategic move to stay ahead of this curve.</p>

<p><strong>PUNE:</strong> Replus, a pioneering battery manufacturing company and part of the LNJ Bhilwara Group has unveiled its plan to expand its current 1GWh production facility to 6GWh within the next year. This major expansion will incorporate next-generation battery technologies to serve the rapidly growing Indian market for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Energy Storage System (ESS) segments.</p>



<p>The upgraded Replus 6GWh facility will be designed to deliver:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><strong>High-Speed</strong></span><strong> Automation Manufacturing Process</strong>: Leverage automation, AI, and data-driven manufacturing, integrating real-time monitoring, machine vision, robotic systems, automated material handling, and laser welding to enhance efficiency, accelerate production, and embrace sustainability by minimizing carbon footprint.</li>



<li><strong>Adoption of Advanced Cell Chemistry</strong>: To meet the evolving needs of the market, the plant will adopt a cell chemistry &amp; technology-agnostic approach with the capability of handling high energy density cells, blade cells, future cell chemistry cells, including Na-ion, LMFP, LTO, etc.</li>



<li><strong>Next-Gen Products</strong>: The products rolling out from the plant will cater to a variety of electric vehicles, including EV passenger vehicles, EV buses, EV trucks, and grid-scale renewable plants with Advanced Battery Packs &amp; Liquid Cooled BESS Container Solutions.</li>
