Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd., formerly one of the two Co-Chairmen, will now be the sole Co-Chairman of FAI.

Sankarasubramanian, who is currently Co-Chairman of the FAI Board and Chairman of FAI’s Southern Region, brings over three decades of diverse experience in the fertiliser industry, particularly in the Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) sector.

Sankarasubramanian said, “FAI is committed to driving innovation and sustainability through resource efficiency and balanced nutrition, while working closely with policymakers to achieve Atmanirbharta in the fertiliser sector. We will continue to align industry goals with national agricultural priorities to foster growth, resilience, and long-term food security.”

The Fertiliser Association of India extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to Sailesh C. Mehta, earlier Chairman of FAI, for his leadership and continues to look forward to his guidance and support for the sector.

Established in 1955, FAI is a non-profit apex industry body representing the fertiliser manufacturers, distributors, importers, equipment manufacturers, research institutes, and suppliers of inputs.

Reflecting on his term, outgoing Chairman Saugata Gupta said, “Leading ASCI through a period that witnessed significant development and change has been a privilege. This year has been marked by historic milestones, including the formation of the ASCI Academy, which has become a cornerstone in promoting responsible and progressive advertising. Our commitment to training and capacity building, creating new direction via our thought leadership work, reflects a culture of responsibility from the ground up.”

ASCI has made great progress in terms of its achievements and strategic initiatives during the year, reinforcing its commitment to proactive work since the start of the ASCI Academy. The Academy’s expansion is an important aspect of ASCI’s initiatives, and it is quickly becoming an active proponent of industry training and education. Since its inception, the Academy has expanded to encompass over 75 alliances and, through its training and education, successfully impacted 33,300 new and emerging professionals, firmly anchoring ethical principles deeply within the advertising community.

ASCI has also actively engaged in research and thought leadership through collaborative projects. Notable among these were partnerships with Khaitan & Co. on a white paper on the influence of generative AI on advertising, with the UN Women-led Unstereotype Alliance and lead research agency Kantar on D&I in India, as well as with Lexplosion for an in-depth understanding of privacy and data protection.

In the past year, ASCI actively co-hosted and participated in several stakeholder and government consultations to address and discuss issues like dark patterns, green claims, and surrogate advertising.

ASCI updated and introduced new guidelines on an array of categories this year, including deceptive patterns, charitable cause marketing, and green claims ads, among others. These changes keep the ASCI Code current in the face of the changing industry dynamics and consumer expectations.

ASCI’s rigorous complaint redressal and monitoring operations this year included processing over 10,000 complaints and reviewing over 8,200 advertisements, affirming its role as a vigilant guardian of the advertising industry.

ASCI remains dedicated to advancing ethical, inclusive, and transparent advertising.

Shri Krishnakumar is an Industry veteran with diverse leadership experience across businesses and functional domains in his 36-year journey at BPCL. 

He has been at the core of BPCL’s pioneering work in revolutionizing the downstream fuel retailing industry in the country. He has led the organization’s customer-centric ventures into convenience retailing, and premium fuels and has also been the one to introduce new tech and digital initiatives in the company, a first in the Indian Oil Industry.

Shri Krishnakumar has developed and nurtured winning brands like Petro Card, SmartFleet, Speed, and In & Out, which have been significant contributors to BPCL’s differentiated customer value proposition in the marketplace, reinforcing the Pure for Sure customer promise.

Prior to his elevation to the board, as the head of BPCL’s Lubricants business, he spearheaded brand MAK’s aggressive growth in the domestic and international markets, and in the expansion of the product portfolio to cover new and emerging industrial, agricultural, and passenger and commercial vehicle segments. He also championed the expansion of the service dimension of the MAK brand – MAK Quik, for a quick oil change for 2-wheelers which has since been adopted by millions of customers. 

BPCL prides itself on a learning organization with an overarching focus on continual learning and talent development. During his stint as Head of Learning & Development and subsequently, as Executive Director (HRD), he led the conceptualization and implementation of several path-breaking initiatives to bring about a transformation in skilling and leadership development in the organization, future-proofing BPCL in the face of the emerging challenges and the paradigm shifts in the business landscape. 

He is an Electrical Engineer from NIT (erstwhile Regional Engineering College), Tiruchirapalli, and has done his Masters’s in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
