GURGAON: Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio and MG Motor India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the EV charging infrastructure in India. The collaboration to develop charging solutions for electric vehicles (EV) and value-added services to MG’s EV customers nationwide will underpin India’s rapidly evolving EV ecosystem by helping build a robust and efficient charging infrastructure.

In terms of MoU, Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL) will set up CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships to bolster the charging network and enhance customer accessibility. The partnership will also provide a comprehensive solution encompassing supply, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of charging infrastructure. In addition, a digital platform will be launched to facilitate a seamless customer experience, covering discovery, user authentication, charging, and billing settlement through a dedicated mobile application.

Under this strategic partnership, both parties shall explore the potential of integrating public charging stations across platforms by leveraging advanced application programming interfaces (APIs) to enhance network visibility and accessibility. PUNE: In a bid to provide solutions to the futuristic needs of the automotive sector, the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has developed some futuristic solutions and has showcased the same in the ongoing Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) 2024 at Pune International Exhibition and ConventionCentre (PIECC), Moshi. The Expo is on till January 25th. The prominent features are the showcase of fast charging systems for electric heavy commercial vehicles like trucks and buses, specially made battery management systems for skilling and training purposes, and the hydrogen pavilion.

The world is looking at alternate fuels for the energy needs of vehicles and electric vehicles are steadily gaining popularity. Batteries are one of the most important parts of these e-vehicles and so is the battery management system. Considering the training needs of skilled manpower which will be required to cater to the development and service needs of electric vehicles ARAI academy has introduced a specially designed Battery Management System Trainer (BMST) which is ideally suited for the budding engineers and technocrats for understanding the overall functioning of the battery and its various parts, informed Sanjay Patil from the ARAI Academy. This BMST will have special features like monitoring Individual Cells, Temperature, Pack Level Current, CAN Communication Data, and Real-Time Display. It can be applied in Education and Training, BMS Development, Student Projects, and Hands-on Experience for Industry Professionals.

While the use of electric vehicles is growing, an effective option for fast charging of the vehicle is of paramount importance. Going forward, heavy commercial vehicles like trucks and buses will also be electric ones. Thus, to cater to the need for charging these big vehicles, ARAI is in the advanced stages of developing the Overhead Automated Charging Device (OHACD). These charges of about 600KW capacity would charge the vehicle from 0 to 80% in just 25 minutes. The time taken by the current 100KW charger to charge the passenger car is about 3 – 4 hours. The OHACD technology will be introduced to the market in the next one to one and a half years, stated Abhijit Mulay, Deputy Director of ARAI.

S. S. Thipse, Senior Deputy Director of ARAI said that Hydrogen is a clean fuel and is the fuel of the future. So, ARAI has showcased the latest technology in hydrogen vehicles through a specially dedicated pavilion at the SIAT 2024 Expo. The latest in hydrogen fuel technology is displayed at this pavilion including the H2 Fuel Cell Bus, H2 IC Engine, H2 Type4 Cylinder, H2 Fuel Kit, and H2 ICE Truck. ARAI is developing the testing and certification model for hydrogen-powered vehicles and their components. It is also in the advanced stages of developing a hydrogen-powered engine which will be BSVI-compliant.

The alliance aims to set up a safe, robust, and consumer-friendly EV charging infrastructure with the implementation of global protocol and standards. This will enable a common/universal EV charging network, which can be used by both 2W and 3W users in B2C and B2B domains. It is also advocating minimal change in vehicles to enable cost-effective and flexible charging touchpoints.

In a bid to firm up its efforts towards meeting its core objectives, BCA and CHAdeMO Association are delighted to join hands to promote interoperable charging infrastructure in India. The specifications for building interoperable charging infrastructure will be adopted based on the IS/IEC standards. The Alliance now intends to implement IS17017-25 (adopted from IEC 61851-25) EVSE standard and IS17017-2-6 (IEC 62196-6) vehicle inlet and connector standard published by the Bureau of Indian Standard. Having adopted global IEC standards, BCA intends the vehicles to remain market (domestic and/or international) agnostic.

Speaking on this collaboration, Tomomi Hakomori, Public Affairs Director at CHAdeMO Association, said, “We are pleased to be able to collaborate with BCA and to contribute to improving the charging infrastructure in India, and are really looking forward to the flourishing future of e-mobility in India.” “CHAdeMO” is both the name of the DC charging technology and of the organization tasked to develop the technology. PUNE: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ and a Fortune Global 500 Company, today announced the launch of EV Fast-Charging stations on six highways in Western India. These six highways are –

Pune-Ahmednagar-Aurangabad – 240 KMs

Pune-Solapur (4 ROs), 250 KMs

Pune- Nashik (4 ROs), 200 KMs

Pune-Kolhapur (3 RO s), 225 KMs

Mumbai- Nashik (3 RO s) 200KMs and

Nashik- Shirdi (3 RO s), ​90 KMs

The EV fast chargers at BPCL Fuel Stations recharge EVs in just about 30 minutes giving a driving range of upto 125 kilometers, therefore the distance between the two such facilities at highways has been kept within 100 kilometers.

So far, BPCL has converted ​6 highways into electric corridors, and going forward, by March 2023, 200 highways will be covered with Electric Vehicle Fast Chargers under the brand eDrive which carries the tagline Clean. Fast. Easy, to support and accelerate the EV growth in the country.

These Fast EV Charging Corridors were inaugurated by Shri P.S. Ravi, Executive Director (Retail) in presence of S. Abbas Akhtar, CGM (Brand & PR), Subhankar Sen, CGM (RETAIL INITIATIVES & BRAND), RETAIL HQ, Akshay Wadhwa, HEAD (RETAIL), WEST.

The fast chargers follow the CCS-2 protocol and are a part of BPCL’s initiative to address the range anxiety of electric vehicle owners.

Speaking at the launch, Shri. P.S. Ravi, Executive Director I/c (Retail), BPCL said “We at BPCL are constantly striving to align ourselves with the nation’s vision to enhance the clean mode of mobility and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. We are steadily moving towards converting 7000 of our conventional Retail Outlets into Energy Stations which is part of a comprehensive decarbonization strategy to support and prioritize sustainable initiatives. We are setting up fast-charging highway corridors to eliminate the range, discovery, and time anxiety of EV customers traveling on highways. 400 such corridors by next year will cover almost every part of the country.”

All EV customers will be able to use the EV fast charging stations via a pay-per-use online service. The fast chargers can be self-operated without any manual assistance through support staff will be at hand when needed.

Bharat Petroleum Fuel Stations offer the consumers added convenience of clean and hygienic washrooms, cash withdrawals, safe and secure parking while charging, free digital air facility, 24-hour operations, and much more. Select fuel stations also offer Nitrogen filling facilities. BPCL has digitized the entire EV charger locator, charger operations, and transaction process through the HelloBPCL app for an online hassle-free and transparent user experience.

Several of Bharat Petroleum’s highway fuel stations also offer hygienic food through its strategic alliances with leading brands such as McDonald’s, A2B, Cube Stop, Café Coffee Day, and other local outlets.
