For the first time, Hyderabad will witness such comprehensive emergency coverage

HYDERABAD: CARE Hospitals, one of India’s leading healthcare providers, has launched a new national campaign called “The Power of Three.” This campaign highlights CARE Hospitals’ dedication to clinical excellence, rapid response, and compassionate care, setting a new benchmark for emergency healthcare across India.

As part of this campaign, CARE Hospitals has launched 5G ambulances across all its network hospitals in Hyderabad to make emergency care faster and smarter. For the first time, Hyderabad will witness such comprehensive emergency coverage, where technology and medical expertise come together to ensure timely, life-saving interventions at every stage. These high-tech ambulances send real-time updates about the patient’s condition to the hospital, so doctors are ready even before the patient arrives. They allow smooth communication between the ambulance and hospital teams, quick sharing of vital information, and live tracking for faster response. The system also keeps patient data safe and helps improve care through smart alerts and reports, saving more lives when every minute counts.

The campaign reflects CARE Hospitals’ 28-year journey of saving lives through advanced medical care. It highlights how emergency and specialty treatments have improved over the years and promises even faster and better care for patients in critical need.

The campaign was launched by Mr. Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director, QCIL, alongside Mr. Vishal Maheshwari, Group CFO; Mr. Shalabh Dang, Group Chief Sales and Marketing Officer; Dr. Nikhil Mathur, Group Chief of Medical Services; Mr. Biju Nair, Zonal HCOO; and Dr. Kiran Kumar, Head of Emergency Medicine, along with other hospital heads & leadership of CARE. The event took place at CARE Hospitals – Banjara Hills with participation from senior doctors, hospital staff, and patients whose lives were transformed by timely emergency care.

Speaking on the significance of the campaign, Varun Khanna, Group Managing Director, QCIL, said, “This is a proud moment for CARE Hospitals and for healthcare in India. For over three decades, CARE has been synonymous with timely, quality, and compassionate care. With this emergency response commitment, we are reinforcing that legacy while setting a national standard. The ‘The Power of Three’ campaign embodies our belief that access, speed, and clinical excellence must work together to save lives. We promise every patient and family that we will be there when they need us the most.”

As part of “The Power of Three” campaign, CARE Hospitals has made three important promises to the public:

All emergency calls will be answered within three rings

An ambulance will pick up the patient within 30 minutes anywhere in Hyderabad

At designated hospitals—Banjara Hills, Hitech City, Nampally, Malakpet, Musheerabad, and Indore—an Emergency Room doctor will attend to the patient within minutes of arrival at the emergency.

The public is encouraged to save the emergency helpline number: 040-61656565

These promises reflect CARE Hospitals’ mission to redefine emergency healthcare, making it timely, accessible, and life-saving. They also help the community by giving people quick medical help when it matters most, building trust, and increasing the chances of saving lives.

The campaign also celebrates 28 years of CARE Hospitals and how emergency services have grown stronger each year. During the event, case studies and emergency response milestones that demonstrate how swift intervention has positively impacted patient outcomes. Patients and their families shared emotional stories of how they were saved by the emergency teams at CARE. Each story reinforces the narrative, “From Then to Now: Celebrating CARE’s Journey Through Lives Saved in Minutes.” These stories underscore the critical importance of the GOLDEN HOUR, the vital first hour after a medical emergency, where prompt medical care can make the difference between life and death, recovery and disability. They exemplify the lives touched, healed, and transformed through CARE Hospitals’ commitment to rapid, high-quality medical care across specialties.

The event concluded with a symbolic flag-off of newly branded 5G ambulances, marking the rollout of this campaign across all CARE Hospitals locations nationwide, ensuring the public is informed and empowered to act quickly during emergencies.

MUMBAI: Sumeet Facilities Limited India, in consortium with Grupo SSGMatrix, Spain, and previous service operator BVG India will implement the New ‘Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services’ (MEMS) 108 Ambulance Project in the state of Maharashtra. This project is set to transform emergency medical services in India with the integration of cutting-edge technology using advanced global standards. The 10-year large-scale initiative introduces a new operational model featuring state-of-the-art technology to boost service efficiency and effectiveness, bringing wide-scale reform to the healthcare sector across Maharashtra.

Currently, ambulance services across India operate primarily as Patient Transportation Services (PTS). The new project envisioned by the Government of Maharashtra aims to genuinely save lives by utilizing specialized medical equipment during the critical golden hour of a patient’s emergency. The project, under the State National Health Mission, aims to provide pre-hospital health emergency services to patients in critical and non-critical conditions, utilizing life support ambulances to stabilize and facilitate prompt mobilization to nearby hospitals. The initiative covers a wide range of health emergencies, including road accidents, critical diseases, and natural calamities, among others.

Summit Salunke, Vice Chairman of Sumeet Group Enterprises, expressed his commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure and improving the quality of life for citizens of Maharashtra through this exemplary government initiative. He conveyed pride in being associated with this venture’s far-reaching impact on patient care and improving emergency response times across urban and rural areas. He appreciates and thanks the leadership and administrators of Govt. of Maharashtra for coming up with such high specifications and bringing the EMS industry in India to par with European and North American standards.

Diego Prieto Oliver, Vice-Chairman of SSG Transporte Sanitario SL, remarked, “It is inspiring to witness Maharashtra adopt such a clear and innovative mindset with this project, raising its quality standards to align with global leaders. This initiative, which redefines emergency care as a network that brings hospital-level care to the patient, represents a substantial advancement that will revolutionize the EMS industry in India.”

Built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model for the first time in India, with service providers contributing 51% of the capital expenditure and the government contributing to 49%. The MEMS-108 project is set to redefine emergency medical care by integrating advanced medical technology, data analytics, and high-tech communication systems. The program is designed to ensure faster response times across urban, rural, and tribal areas throughout the state, with 24/7 medical support through a state-of-the-art Emergency Response Center (ERC), based on NG911 standards and will be staffed with a specialized team of doctors.

Additionally, there will be a robust Information, education, and communication campaign to raise awareness about these free emergency services provided by the government. Further, this initiative will bring substantial benefits to the public by creating over 14,000 jobs in both skilled and semi-skilled categories, thereby generating significant employment opportunities. The project aims to deliver equal, international-level services to all 14 crore citizens of Maharashtra, ensuring comprehensive and equitable healthcare access. The government will benefit from increased public trust and transparency through improved service delivery, as well as reduced healthcare costs due to more efficient use of resources and enhanced capabilities in pandemic and disaster management situations in the state.

The project stands as a new benchmark in emergency medical services in India, promising not only technological advancements and operational efficiency but also a sustainable model for future public-private collaborations for quality service delivery by service providers. The New MEMS 108 Project will be rolled out across the state in five phases in the coming months.

Fleet Key Advancements and New International Standard Benchmark Upgrades:

The upgraded fleet is based on high-end body kits of ABS/PPMA material, providing the highest durability and strength. It is equipped with high-end lifesaving medical equipment. The improved standards specify the requirements based on the quality of design, performance, and KPI-based reporting structure that are key to better patient outcomes.

New Age Technology Integrations:

Technological upgrades in ambulances now include Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), tablet PCs, RFID, GPS, caller location tracking, CCTV, TRIAGE systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Vehicle Tracking and Management System (VTMS), and patient arrival intimation systems, compared to the previous reliance on basic mobile phones and coordination with the caller for directions.

Enhanced training modules will also be developed for preparatory and emergency training for all personnel.

Fleet size almost doubled to 1756 from earlier 937:

Advance Life Support (ALS) Ambulances – 255

Basic Life Support (BLS) – 1274

Neo-Natal Ambulance – 36

First Responder Bikes – 166

Seaboat Ambulance – 10

Riverboat Ambulance – 15

The total capital expenditure procurement value has increased from approximately Rs. 240 crores for 937 ambulances (ALS-233, BLS-704) in 2013 to approximately Rs. 870 crores for 1,756 ambulances in 2024, reflecting the adoption of new international specifications and a variety of fleet types. The annual operational expenditure by the government has doubled from approximately Rs.425 crore to Rs. 800 crore, in line with the expanded service scope and doubled fleet size.

In the future, the State Government also wishes to introduce forward integration initiatives like the use of Helicopters and Drones for the quickest medical assistance and a Patient Arrival Intimation System in All Hospitals across Maharashtra.

You can avail of this free service by dialing 108, ensuring prompt and efficient response to critical situations.

MUMBAI: To ensure seamless communication, connectivity, and public safety across the 95-kilometer expressway connecting Mumbai – Pune, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Ltd. (MSRDC) has entered into an exclusive agreement with Vi, a leading telecom operator, to set up emergency calling booths across the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. As part of the agreement, Vi will be providing network support to all the emergency calling booths that have been set up every two kilometers, thus enabling commuters easy access to directly connect with the state highway police control room in case of any emergency.

As part of the agreement, Vi will ensure network saliency at each of the emergency calling booths, thus extending 24×7 public safety and anytime communication for commuters. The emergency calling booths and state highway police control room will be enabled with Vi SIM to maintain uniformity and avoid any network disruption, whereas MSRDC will manage other aspects such as maintaining the equipment and responding to or addressing the queries from commuters.

Commenting on the partnership, Rohit Tandon, Cluster Business Head – Maharashtra & Goa, Vodafone Idea said “Mumbai-Pune Expressway is counted amongst the busiest highways in the state. As a leading telecom operator, we are honored to partner with MSRDC to enable ubiquitous connectivity for the public at large. Today, while most commuters have mobile phones, they might not be aware of whom to connect with or how to explain their location in times of distress. In certain emergencies, these emergency calling booths have proven to be a life-saving tool for establishing a fast and direct connection with the high patrol, especially in cases of medical situations, accidents, and vehicle breakdowns.”

Rajesh Patil, Jt. Managing Director, MSRDC Ltd. said, “We value our partnership with Vi for this important public service and look forward to a successful association with them.
