Suzlon’s most successful platform, S144, secured over 2.4 GW of orders in FY26, reflecting strong market demand

PUNE: In line with its continued growth momentum, Suzlon has secured a repeat order of 195 MW from Sunsure Energy, taking the total sales of its highly successful 3MW platform to nearly 9 GW. This milestone reflects strong and sustained market adoption for the Suzlon 3X platform. This order builds on the ongoing partnership between Suzlon and Sunsure, bringing the cumulative partnership to nearly 300 MW across Maharashtra and Karnataka, and is expected to grow further.

With this order, Suzlon’s orderbook in Karnataka now stands at over 2 GW, marking a key milestone in one of India’s leading wind markets. Suzlon’s current installed base in Karnataka stands at 1,500MW, contributing to 24% of Suzlon’s installed base in South India.

Suzlon will install 65 state-of-the-art S144 wind turbine generators (WTGs), each rated at a 3.0 MW capacity. It will supply wind turbines, execute the project, including erection and commissioning. Suzlon will also undertake comprehensive operations and maintenance services post-commissioning. The project is set to be executed in the Bijapur district of Karnataka. In addition, Suzlon is also executing other large commercial and industrial (C&I) projects in the state, with a total capacity of 664 MW.

Girish Tanti, Executive Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group, said, “As highlighted by Shri Narendra Modi in his recent Mann Ki Baat address, India’s growing focus on renewable energy, especially wind, is playing a critical role in building an energy-secure future. Our 3 MW platform is contributing to this vision immensely as our most successful innovation yet and a key driver for Suzlon’s growth in India. Additionally, Karnataka has emerged as our largest market by orderbook with over 2 GW orders from our existing orderbook, making it a top priority market for us alongside Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. The strong growth is driven by rising demand from the large commercial and industrial (C&I) segment, where wind is increasingly preferred for RTC solutions.”

Shashank Sharma, CEO, Sunsure Energy, said, “The next generation of clean energy infrastructure will not be the one that works when the sun shines or the wind blows – it will be defined by its ability to deliver power when India needs it the most. At Sunsure Energy, we are pioneering this next generation of renewable energy infrastructure by building reliable, round-the-clock renewable power solutions that will power and decarbonize India’s industries, emerging AI and data centre demand, electric mobility, and the broader deep electrification of the economy. As we rapidly scale our RTC portfolio, partnering with Suzlon for wind energy was a natural choice, given their proven track record of reliably executing large-scale projects. Backed by their advanced technology platform and strong lifecycle O&M capabilities, we believe this partnership will play a pivotal role in accelerating the growth of our renewable energy portfolio and shaping India’s clean energy future.”

Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, said, “We have built close to 300 MW of partnership with Sunsure Energy, driven by our consistent focus on quality, execution, and lifecycle support, which makes us a dependable partner for large and critical projects. This repeat order reflects the trust placed in our capabilities.”

Brings end-to-end advisory solutions to support India Inc. in navigating energy transition challenges

NEW DELHI: Schneider Electric, a global energy technology leader, today announced the expansion of SE Advisory Services, its flagship global consulting brand in India. The offering is aimed at helping enterprises navigate rising energy complexity, cost pressures, and decarbonisation requirements. It combines world-class strategic advisory with AI-powered software and end-to-end project implementation to support organisations through the evolving energy transition.

As one of the world’s fastest-growing energy markets, India is witnessing a sharp rise in electricity demand, projected to grow at over 6% annually, driven by rapid urbanisation, industrial expansion, and digital adoption. At the same time, India’s upgraded climate commitments as per the latest NDCs — targeting 60% non‑fossil fuel-based power capacity and a 47% reduction in emissions intensity of GDP by 2035 — are accelerating the need for smarter, more efficient, and technology-led energy management.

Deepak Sharma, MD & CEO, Zone President – Greater India, Schneider Electric, said, “India’s energy demand is growing rapidly, but the real challenge for businesses today is managing energy smarter, not just consuming more of it. As costs rise and decarbonisation becomes business-critical, organisations need integrated solutions that combine strategy, digital intelligence, and execution. SE Advisory Services is designed to help businesses make faster, more informed decisions and translate ambition into measurable outcomes.”

SE Advisory Services is designed to provide end-to-end support from strategy to execution. It brings together a comprehensive portfolio of solutions across:

Sustainable Business & Industrial Transformation: Supporting enterprises in advancing decarbonisation, digital transformation, electrification, renewable integration, circularity, and low-carbon operations across both energy systems and industrial processes.

Risk Management & Resilience: Helping organisations navigate energy volatility, cybersecurity, climate risks, and system disruptions to reduce downtime, harden connected systems, and build operational resilience

Resource & Asset Performance: Strategically assessing resources and systems to enhance reliability, reduce waste, and unlock capacity for growth.

Intelligent Software: Providing specialized, AI-enabled software solutions built on deep advisory expertise to connect fragmented workflows and translate insights into action.

Venkat Garimella, Vice President- Sustainability, Greater India Zone, Schneider Electric, said, “What we are seeing across industries is a clear shift. Energy, automation, and digital systems are no longer separate conversations; they are deeply interconnected. As a result, transformation cannot happen in silos.

Organisations need a partner who understands this convergence and can translate it into actionable change on the ground. Our Advisory Services are designed to deliver exactly that by combining sustainability expertise with advanced energy technologies, digital innovation, and execution capabilities. We are helping customers not only identify opportunities for efficiency and decarbonisation, but also implement them at scale and realise tangible business outcomes, while strengthening resilience, future-proofing operations, and staying ahead of rapidly evolving regulatory and market expectations.”

By treating energy management as a strategic asset rather than a fixed cost, Schneider Electric is ensuring that the infrastructure of the future is as intelligent as it is powerful. Through SE Advisory Services, the company continues to evolve with the nation, transitioning from an electrification hardware provider to a global hub for energy innovation and strategic excellence. By orchestrating the journey

from the grid to the chip, Schneider Electric is empowering Indian businesses to lead the global transition toward a more resilient, sustainable, and digitized future.

The GUVNL award builds on this global foundation and positions ENGIE to deliver a new class of reliable, flexible energy solutions to India.

Amit Jain, CEO and Country Manager ENGIE India, Managing Director Renewables & Batteries India & South-East Asia, expressed, “India’s renewable story is entering a decisive phase, where scale must be matched with firmness, flexibility, and digital intelligence. Storage is the bridge that will take us there. This award strengthens ENGIE’s mission to build the next generation of hybrid and storage-backed infrastructure that can support peak demand, integrate more renewables, and deliver dependable clean power to millions. Backed by ENGIE’s global storage expertise, we are committed to shaping an energy system that is resilient, efficient, and ready for the future India is building.”

The win reinforces ENGIE’s long-term commitment to India’s clean energy future. With scalable, technology-led renewable and storage solutions, ENGIE continues to advance a resilient, low-carbon energy ecosystem that is essential to meeting India’s 2030 and 2047 climate goals.

INDIA: Hero Future Energies (HFE), the renewable energy arm of the Hero Group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Government to develop renewable energy generation projects with a total capacity of 4 GW across Ananthapuramu, Kurnool, and Kadapa districts. The projects represent a proposed investment of ₹30,000 crore, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s position as one of India’s leading renewable energy destinations.

The MoU was signed by Mr Srivatsan Iyer, Global CEO, Hero Future Energies, in the presence of Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri K. Vijayanand, IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt of AP, Dr M. Kamalakar Babu, Vice Chairman & MD, NREDCAP, Govt of AP and Sri C.M. Saikanth Varma, IAS, CEO, AP Economic Development Board and Mr Rahul Munjal, Founder & CMD, Hero Future Energies and senior officials from both sides at Visakhapatnam, on the sidelines of the AP Govt – CII Partnership Summit. Under the agreement, HFE will establish the renewable energy generation projects in two phases, creating over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs in total.

As part of the MoU, HFE will leverage its expertise in renewable energy technology, design, and implementation to set up the projects in a time-bound manner. Hon’ble CM of Andhra Pradesh assured HFE Chairman that NREDCAP and APEDB will facilitate necessary assistance to enable project development, including coordination with relevant departments of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Union Government of India for required approvals and support. In response, HFE Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Rahul Munjal, informed the Hon’ble Chief Minister that HFE will invest an additional INR 15000 crore in renewable energy projects in the state, taking the total value of the current proposed investments to INR 30,000 crores.

Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Munjal, Founder and CMD, Hero Future Energies, said, “This partnership marks more than an investment—it’s a step towards redefining how States and private enterprise can jointly drive India’s clean energy transition. Andhra Pradesh’s proactive policy environment and strong infrastructure make it a top priority investment destination.”

Srivatsan Iyer, Global CEO, Hero Future Energies, said, “The proposed projects are proving ground for complex renewable ecosystems that combine scale, innovation, and impact. Through this MoU, we are adding 4 GW of green capacity and also setting in motion a model of sustainable industrial growth that generates long-term employment, attracts ancillary industries, and strengthens the AP’s role in India’s decarbonisation journey.”

The MoU will remain valid for a period of 12 months from the date of signing and aims to enable swift project commencement and investment facilitation in the renewable energy sector of Andhra Pradesh.

More than 1,200 senior executives from major companies spanning a variety of industries across 20 countries were surveyed for KPMG’s report, AI’s dual promise: Enabling positive climate outcomes and powering the energy transition. The research was conducted to better understand how AI is currently being used to drive sustainability and where business leaders believe action is needed to accelerate and unlock its full potential.

While AI was debated on the sidelines of COP29 this year, it’s set to be among the most discussed themes as the world’s decision makers attempt to balance the potential impact of energy consumption with the technology’s potential to transform clean energy.

Forecasts vary significantly, but some campaigners have called for a moratorium on new AI data center builds, warning they could significantly increase global emissions by 2030, slowing or even reversing current progress on climate change. The challenge for political and business leaders is understanding AI’s increasing need for energy resources while balancing this with the huge potential the technology has to rapidly speed up progress on clean energy and decarbonization.

KPMG’s survey provides some of the clearest evidence yet that senior executives now understand and are embracing AI as a potential force for good. Ninety-seven percent of respondents said they believe AI is a net positive for accelerating progress towards net zero goals.

The execution gap: why energy’s progress is uneven

Despite strong confidence in AI’s potential, KPMG’s findings highlight that progress remains uneven due to barriers in infrastructure, policy, and financing. One-third of executives (33 percent) identify grid limitations as a major risk, with permitting and construction delays threatening to meet only half of the new AI-driven energy demand by 2030. Policy is also lagging behind innovation: 75 percent of leaders say policymakers are too slow to embrace AI’s climate benefits, creating uncertainty and delaying investment. Financing is another challenge, with 37 percent of energy producers and 33 percent of energy consumers citing high costs and lack of funding as the main obstacles to expanding clean energy.

While 96 percent of executives believe renewables can meet future AI demand, only 13 percent are willing to make clean power use non-negotiable if it slows deployment or raises costs. As a result, data center expansion is likely to continue globally even without guaranteed access to clean power. Companies that overcome these hurdles by 2027 will secure a lasting competitive advantage.

Turning AI ambition into climate action

KPMG’s survey reveals a clear commitment to both AI and the climate challenge from energy business leaders. With COP30 now underway in Belem, much of the conversation will focus on 2030 and the rapidly approaching deadline for net-zero goals. The summit is a pivotal moment for embracing and exploiting AI to help meet the challenge.

Mike Hayes, Global Head of Renewable Energy, KPMG International and Partner, Climate Change and Decarbonization Leader, KPMG in Ireland, said:

“The research is clear. AI isn’t just supporting the energy transition, it’s accelerating it. The survey shows that most executives now view AI as essential for achieving net zero. There is real momentum and optimism here on the ground in Belem, with business and political leaders at COP30 ready to move from ambition to action. While AI’s energy use is unquestionably a major challenge for the world, the potentially transformative power of AI for climate action is profound. If we align policy, innovation, and investment with the pace of AI’s growth, this technology can become our strongest ally in building a cleaner, smarter energy future for all. The challenge isn’t to slow AI down, but to steer it wisely.”

Anish De, Global Head of Energy, Natural Resources, and Chemicals at KPMG International, said,

“AI’s energy demand is undeniable, and it’s reshaping how we think about power systems and infrastructure. Balancing this demand with sustainability is a real challenge, but business leaders see opportunity as well: most believe renewable energy can meet AI’s growing needs, accelerating the shift to cleaner, smarter grids and enabling sustainability at scale. The key question is whether our energy infrastructure can evolve fast enough to keep pace with AI’s expansion.”

Anna Scally, Head of Technology, Media, and Telecommunications, KPMG EMA; Partner, KPMG in Ireland, said,

“Technology is at the heart of the climate conversation, and AI has emerged as one of the most transformative forces we’ve seen. With just five years until many organizations aim to hit net-zero targets, business leaders are clear: AI isn’t a barrier — it’s a catalyst. But let’s be clear, yes, AI’s energy demands are significant, and that’s a real challenge, but leaders are betting on AI to drive climate progress by improving forecasting and powering smarter infrastructure planning.”

New Saudi-based company, Nextracker Arabia, will manufacture and supply advanced solar tracking systems and technology to major utility-scale projects in the Kingdom and across the MENA region

MUMBAI: Abunayyan Holding and Nextracker (Nasdaq: NXT) have signed an agreement to form Nextracker Arabia, a new joint venture that will help accelerate solar adoption across the Kingdom and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Headquartered in Riyadh, Nextracker Arabia will combine Abunayyan’s 75 years of leadership in water and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region with U.S.-based Nextracker’s global market share leadership in solar power plant technologies, advanced solar trackers, and yield management and control systems.

Nextracker Arabia will build on the unique experience and expertise in clean energy and solar innovation that these two organizations bring to the new joint venture. This combination will best enable the new entity to advance Saudi Arabia’s clean energy transition while helping achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy and strengthen local industrial capacity.

The joint venture includes sales, engineering, and operations, and will assume ownership of Nextracker’s existing manufacturing facility in the Kingdom. This initial plant will play a key role in the production and distribution of Nextracker’s integrated solar power plant technologies for major utility-scale and distributed generation projects in Saudi Arabia and across the MENA region. These technologies will include Nextracker’s advanced solar trackers, mechanical infrastructure, and yield management and control systems.

Turki Al-Amri, Abunayyan Holding CEO, said, “Nextracker has a proven track record of the highest performing solar power systems. Nextracker Arabia will represent a powerful new platform built on shared values of sustainability and responsibility as well as a commitment to maximizing the potential of solar energy to lead MENA’s clean energy future. Together, we can deliver highly efficient, cost-effective clean energy at scale to help drive long-term social and economic growth in Saudi Arabia and across the region.”

Dan Shugar, Nextracker founder and CEO, said, “With Abunayyan Holding, we have a partner that is uniquely experienced in and deeply aligned with the region’s energy transition needs. With this new joint venture and initial manufacturing facility, we will build a strong local supply chain that brings production closer to our customers, enhances self-reliance, and delivers the high performance and reliability that our customers value. We are proud to invest in the Kingdom’s clean energy future and Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the energy transition across the MENA region.”

By localizing the sales, engineering, manufacturing, and distribution of its products in Saudi Arabia, Nextracker Arabia can most effectively contribute to increasing the important role solar energy will play in helping to achieve national and regional energy transition objectives. Saudi Arabia has a goal of deploying 130 gigawatts of clean energy by 2030, with solar playing a critical role in achieving this objective.

The MENA region is emerging as a global solar energy leader. With increasing cost competitiveness and government-backed clean energy strategies, the region is accelerating its renewable energy transition. According to the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) 2025 Solar Outlook Report, MENA’s solar capacity could exceed 180 GW by 2030. In 2024 alone, installed capacity reached 24 GWac, up 25% from the previous year, and is expected to surpass 30 GW by year-end.

Nextracker has a strong legacy of reliable performance in Saudi Arabia, starting with KSA’s first utility-scale installation, the 405 MW Sakaka Solar Park, where the company’s system has demonstrated exemplary reliability. Partnering with developers in the Middle East and Africa, Nextracker has delivered more than 6 GW of solar projects across the region, including more than 3 GW in Saudi Arabia. Landmark projects with Nextracker systems include 1.17 GW of the Al Kahfah project, the 449 MW Tabarjal project, and 904 MW of the Sudair project.

Turki Al-Amri, Abunayyan Holding’s chief executive officer, is expected to serve as both chairman of the board and chief executive officer for the new joint venture. Rajeev Kashyap, senior vice president and general manager for Nextracker Middle East, India, and Africa (MEIA), is expected to serve as chief operating officer for Nextracker Arabia.

Nextracker Arabia anticipates launching its business during the first calendar quarter of 2026, following the formation of Saudi legal entities and satisfaction of other closing conditions contained in the joint venture agreement.

MUMBAI: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has signed a pact with Engineers India Limited (EIL) to develop a Coal-to-Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) facility. In a significant step towards managing ‘peak hour power generation that will lead to improved grid stability, NTPC is actively looking towards Coal Gasification and Synthetic Natural Gas production.

The proposed facility will utilize high ash Indian coal from NTPC’s captive mines, converting it into SNG – a cleaner fuel alternative for NTPC’s gas-based power stations as well as in-situ power generation. This initiative aligns with the national vision for cleaner coal technologies and energy diversification.

Coal gasification is emerging as a key enabler for the sustainable utilization of domestic coal reserves, reducing dependency on imported fuels and lowering emissions.

Further, NETRA – which is the R&D wing of NTPC – is actively leading the initiative under its broader vision of “Greening the Coal” and advancing carbon capture and utilization technologies. The collaboration with EIL thus marks a significant milestone in developing integrated, indigenous solutions for clean energy and reinforces NTPC’s commitment to innovation-driven sustainability.

NTPC Ltd. is contributing one-fourth of India’s power requirements and has an installed capacity of 84 GW, with an additional capacity of 30.90 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity. The company is committed to achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, strengthening India’s Net Zero goals.

With a diverse portfolio of thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants, NTPC is dedicated to delivering reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity to the nation. The company is committed to adopting best practices, fostering innovation, and embracing clean energy technologies for a greener future.

Along with power generation, NTPC has ventured into various new business areas, including e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions. It has also participated in the bidding for the power distribution of Union Territories.

This milestone redefines how India connects, monitors, and manages its critical infrastructure

INDIA: Vi Business, the enterprise arm of Vi (Vodafone Idea Limited), a leading telecom and IoT solutions provider, is set to drive significant developments in India’s energy landscape. The enterprise arm today announced its plans to enable 12 million smart meters, nationwide, within the next three years. This brings Vi Business to the forefront of India’s smart utility transformation, furthering the development of a robust, adaptable, and environmentally responsible energy infrastructure.

In alignment with the India Smart Grid Mission, this extensive deployment will foster innovation in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and IoT solutions, aiming to develop a digitally empowered energy ecosystem, enabling advanced and prepaid electricity meters. This will allow Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) to decrease Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses and provide consumers with immediate insights into their energy consumption.

Central to this initiative is the Vi Business IoT Smart Central platform, which provides comprehensive visibility and control across millions of connected meters. Drawing on over five years of experience managing smart meters in India, Vi Business has showcased its expertise in the field of AMI by building scalable and resilient solutions for the evolving energy landscape.

Vi Business has developed structured methodologies for the pre- and post-onboarding of smart meters, ensuring seamless integration and rapid scalability across geographies. Employing telco-grade protocols, Vi Business guarantees comprehensive data protection for utilities and consumers. Additionally, the company operates a cutting-edge IoT Lab for rigorous pre-deployment testing and certification, enabling faster and more reliable AMI rollouts.

Commenting on the development, Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vi said, “We are pioneers in the smart meter energy ecosystem, first to deploy smart meters in 2018 and first to launch innovations like the IoT lab. We continue this commitment to deploy 12 million smart meters to reduce energy losses, improve efficiency, and enhance consumer experience across India.”
