An Extraordinary Journey Through Ellora’s Kailasa Temple and Caves, Set Against the Backdrop of Maharashtra Day

Photography Exhibition by Neelesh Kale Scheduled from April 28 to May 3

PUNE: Art enthusiasts will have a unique opportunity to view photographs that shed light on various facets of the Kailasa Temple—a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a globally renowned marvel of architecture—as well as the Jain and Buddhist caves located at Ellora (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar). This occasion marks the hosting of a photography exhibition featuring panoramic images captured by the Lalit Kala Akademi Award winner Neelesh Kale. Titled ‘Ellorama,’ this exhibition is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, April 28, to Sunday, May 3, at the Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery on Ghole Road. Connoisseurs will be able to experience this exhibition daily between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Please note that this exhibition is free and open to all.

The inauguration of the ‘Ellorama’ photography exhibition will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at 5:00 PM, at the hands of Dr. G.B. Deglurkar, a world-renowned iconologist and a leading expert on the Kailasa Temple, Prof. Medha Kulkarni, Member of Parliament, and Jayant B. Joshi, renowned artist. During the event, Dr. G.B. Deglurkar will interact with the audience. Additionally, as part of the exhibition’s accompanying programs, Indologist Dr. Rahul Deshpande will engage with the audience on Thursday, April 30, at 5:00 PM, delivering a talk titled ‘Exploring Ellora.’ Please note that both of these events are open and free on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.

Providing further details regarding the photography exhibition, Neelesh Kale stated, “The Kailash Temple, carved by the Rashtrakutas, dates back to the period between 756 AD and 773 AD. These 34 caves are carved within an area spanning approximately two kilometers. Among them, Cave No. 16—the Kailasa Temple—is renowned globally as the largest monolithic temple (a temple carved from a single rock) in existence. The ‘Ellorama’ exhibition features photographs that shed light on the Ellora Caves—and specifically the Kailasa Temple—from a multitude of perspectives. This exhibition comprises a curated selection of photographs chosen from a vast collection captured using the techniques of ‘photogrammetry’. Furthermore, another highlight of this exhibition will be the inclusion of a precise 3D (three-dimensional) model created from these photographs using this advanced technology.”

Kale also expressed with confidence that, with the aid of 3D Vista and Cloud Compare technologies, visitors to the exhibition would gain comprehensive information—including where to begin their exploration of the caves, exactly what to observe at each stage, the specific features and unique attributes of the structures they view, and their precise dimensions (length, width, and height). Moreover, attendees will be treated to a ‘guided journey’—or a ‘virtual tour’—of this UNESCO World Heritage site during the event.

PUNE: ‘Poonah-Revisiting Pune’ – a photography exhibition by 19-year-old Adi Chordia – opened for two days at Deccan College, Pune. The exhibition was inaugurated by Hon. C.P.
The exhibition offers a visual journey into Pune’s rich heritage through over 150 handpicked photographs, selected from 5000+ raw images clicked by Adi. It features Pune’s old temples, traditional wadas, historic markets, and colonial-era architecture – all seen from the eyes of a young photographer trying to capture what may soon be lost.

“The city is changing. These buildings won’t be around forever,” Adi said. “I just wanted to preserve them. They’re a part of who we are.”

What makes this exhibition special is that it’s not just about photos. It’s about perspective. Despite being only 19, Adi brings thoughtfulness and intent to his work, reminding viewers that heritage is everyone’s responsibility – not just for historians or governments.

With “Revisiting Pune” as its core idea, the exhibition encourages people to reconnect with the city’s past and appreciate its beauty before it fades away.

NEW DELHI: The second edition of the India Health Exhibition 2025, organised by Informa Markets in India, was inaugurated today at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, highlighting the rising demand and immense potential in this sector. The three-day event, which concludes on 13th July 2025, returns with renewed vigour and an expanded focus to drive collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across India’s healthcare and MedTech sectors. In keeping with the times, India’s health-tech sector is set for significant expansion, with hiring projected to rise by 15–20% in 2025–26, reflecting the increasing demand for innovative healthcare solutions and the integration of technology in medical services.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD, Founder CEO, AMTZ; Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Director General, Association of Healthcare Providers India; Mr. Rajiv Nath, Managing Director, Hindustan Syringes & Medical Device Ltd & Forum Coordinator, AIMED; Ms. Veena Kohli, CEO, Vanguard Diagnostics (P) Limited, Immediate Past President – ADMI; Mr. Himanshu Baid, Managing Director, Poly Medicure, and Vice President, NATHEALTH; Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets India; Mr. Gop Menon, CFO, Informa Markets IMEA; and Mr. Rahul Deshpande, Senior Group Director, Informa Markets India.

Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets in India, said, “Healthcare will always remain a national priority, and India is witnessing a decisive shift in this space. With a thriving population, a proactive government, and growing emphasis on self-care, the sector is moving toward a projected $638 billion valuation by 2030. Our medical tourism market, too, is set to reach $16.21 billion.

The India Health Exhibition, built on the strong legacy of WHX Dubai, brings together policy, innovation, and enterprise, with India at the centre. This year, our dual-track conferences, including the Global MedTech Connect, aim to spark deeper engagement and forward-looking discussions. And with the launch of the India HealthNext Awards, we are reinforcing our long-term commitment to recognising excellence across the healthcare value chain.”

In a key announcement, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD, Founder and CEO of AMTZ, announced the launch of the world’s first dedicated Medical Technology University at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam. This pioneering institution will offer advanced degrees such as M.Tech, MBA, and Ph.D. in medical technology, aiming to transform the industry’s skill-building ecosystem. The university will serve as a global centre for innovation, research, and high-quality manufacturing expertise. By fostering strong collaboration between industry, academia, and regulators, this initiative is set to strengthen India’s self-reliance, boost exports, and establish the country as a leading destination for advanced medical device manufacturing.

The 2025 edition of the show brought together over 300 leading brands representing the full spectrum of healthcare, including medical equipment and devices, diagnostics, orthopaedics, IT systems, infrastructure, and wellness solutions. This edition is expected to exceed the participation of more than 8,000 professionals, including biomedical engineers, radiologists, pathologists, hospital procurement heads, clinicians, R&D professionals, and medical technology regulators. With 95% domestic and 5% international representation, India Health 2025 also saw participation from countries such as Italy, the UAE, and Ethiopia. With a strong focus on the Startup India mission, this year featured a dedicated Startup and Medical Laboratory Pavilion along with a B2B Matchmaking App designed to streamline buyer-seller engagement.

The opening day of India Health 2025 featured two robust and parallel knowledge forums: Global MedTech Connect (July 11 & 12) and the healthcare knowledge conference – Healthcare 360° (July 11, 12, & 13).

Under the theme “Transforming MedTech: Pioneering Innovation and Global Compliance,” Global MedTech Connect brought together industry experts to explore themes such as regulatory reform, quality compliance, artificial intelligence in MedTech, cybersecurity, and sustainability. The sessions also included discussions on navigating geopolitical storms, the role of QMS for MedTech organizations in India: ISO 13485 and Indian MDR alignment, the role of BIS in the MedTech quality ecosystem, cultivating a culture of excellence in medical device manufacturing, sourcing quality raw materials for manufacturers, streamlining labelling compliance in India: a unified approach, strengthening India’s medical device regulatory system through IMDRF membership, and medical device cybersecurity: a checklist or a culture?

Simultaneously, the healthcare knowledge conference under the Healthcare 360° theme—integrating technology, tradition, and transformation—delivered keynote panels and presentations that focused on public health integration, local manufacturing, diagnostics, and hospital innovation. Topics included government initiatives such as pushing digital diagnostics, bridging government & diagnostics, running paperless hospitals using smart technology for better care, driving procurement access and transparency through GeM, making India an export capital of medical devices, and where human touch meets high tech.

The speaker lineup featured thought leaders from leading companies such as Fortis, Transasia Bio-Medicals, BPL Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd, GE Healthcare, Medicover Hospitals, Danaher Corporation, Apex Hospitals, BIORx Venture Advisors, MTaI, and Sarvodaya Hospitals.

A special white paper was also launched today by Praxis Global Alliance in collaboration with Informa Markets in India, providing insights into the increasing popularity of single-speciality hospitals as a model to solve inherent challenges in the sector.

The India Health Exhibition 2025 is supported by industry bodies such as AIMED, ADMI, AHPI, EPCMD, and MTAI, ensuring it remains aligned with both sectoral priorities and the country’s broader goals under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital Health Mission’ agendas.

PUNE: ‘Thread Stories’, a collection of interconnected experiences presented by artist Alka Rode, will take place from 18th to 22nd December 2024 at Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery on Ghole Road. The exhibition is organized by IGA Galleria. Entry to the exhibition is free and open to all from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

The formal inauguration of the exhibition will be on 17th December 2024 at 5:00 PM in the presence of Pauravi Mahajan – Associate Architect at Metaphors, Poonam Mehta – Co-Founder, AMPM Designs & Sonali Thosar – principal architect at Architectonics Design Consultancy.

‘Thread Stories’ can be interpreted as a collection of interconnected experiences, much like threads woven together to form a cohesive tapestry. Each ‘thread’ represents a different story or perspective, and together they create a rich, multifaceted narrative. This concept emphasizes the idea that individual stories, when combined, can provide a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of a theme or subject.

The ‘Thread Stories’ exhibition will also provide a firsthand experience of working with the artist. Alka Rode will be available from 18th-20th December from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the gallery for interaction. Additionally, there will be a special session with artists who also work with fabric on 21st December from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, in which Artist Manasa Dhulipalla and Artist Aparajita Mahajan along with Artist Alka Rode will be in conversation with Sculptor and Art Consultant Indranil Garai.
