PUNE: “Construction workers being an important part of the society, as well as a backbone of the real-estate sector, organizations like CREDAI Pune Metro are always committed towards the safety of these labors,” stated J P Shroff; Chairman of the Kushal Initiative of CREDAI.

Shroff was speaking at the recently launched free First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Program organized at the CREDAI Pune Metro’s Auditorium at the Nucleus Mall, Camp.

Dignitaries like Sapna Rathi; Convenor of the Labour Welfare Committee, Dr. Devendra Bhosale of the AB Clinic, Dr. D K Abhyankar; Director General, Kumar Ramachandran; Designate Director General of CREDAI Pune Metro, Urmila Julka; General Manager, Samir Parkhi; Labour Welfare Officer and others were also present on the occasion.

Dr.Bhosale explained “It is important to be aware of safety while working on the sites. At the same time, it needs to be made sure that all the necessary tools and kits are available while doing first aid.” Also, required first aid techniques on electric shock and injuries, bleeding, accidents, and steps to be considered while giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) were imparted through demonstrations.

Shroff expressed his belief that this training program was specifically designed to address the potential hazards and emergencies that staff/workers may encounter on sites. He also emphasized that such an approach would ensure that anyone equipped with these necessary skills, will be able to respond effectively in real-life situations.

“Considering the welfare of construction workers, this initiative is taken up for the first time by CREDAI. We aim to spread this training program to at least 5000 staff and workers shortly,” expressed Sapna Rathi.

CREDAI Pune Metro has encouraged all the member developers to enroll their staff for this pioneering training program as soon as possible, to create a safer and more secure working environment. Rashmi Lodha; a Labour Welfare Committee member played the anchor for the program.

Returning from Colombo, Dr. Shabab Alam said that Sri Lanka has tied up with the First Aid Council of India to make first aid universally accessible, under which all types of courses related to first aid will be conducted there under the guidance of the council.

On being honored in Sri Lanka, Dr. Shabab Alam is receiving continuous congratulations from all the people associated with the education world, as well as from his city Muzaffarnagar. He informed that the First Aid Council has largely overcome the shortage of trained medical professionals in the rural areas of India. First aid is a course that is needed everywhere because the number of hospitals in the country is less and their distance from rural areas is also more. In such a situation, if first aid is given before the patient is taken to the hospital, then the chances of saving his life increase considerably. The latest example of this is the deaths due to cardiac arrest at present. In such cases, 90 percent of patients can be saved by giving first aid. According to statistics, every year more than one crore people lose their lives in the country just because they do not get first aid on time. Whereas two million people die just because of excessive bleeding.
