The Foundation will increase investment in India by ~25% and grow its India headcount by ~10% in 2026, strengthening state- and city-level execution to accelerate job creation, while continuing all programs nationwide.

NEW DELHI: Wadhwani Foundation, a global not-for-profit focused on job creation through entrepreneurship, skilling, innovation, and government digital transformation, is entering the next phase of its growth in India by strengthening execution across 15 priority city ecosystems in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The focus is on scaling outcomes through stronger execution, ensuring that national platforms translate into local impact. Scaling outcomes means more local jobs and more local people placed into jobs. This approach enables faster execution, clearer accountability, and closer alignment between local employers, skilling institutions, and job outcomes.

This phase builds on a solid execution base established in 2025. During the year, the Foundation invested ₹300 crore in India, supported 7,000 businesses, engaged 1.2 lakh entrepreneurship students, and made 2.5 lakh youth job-ready through employability-linked skilling. In addition to this, it also launched an AI-enabled My Career Advisor platform with the Ministry of Education, offering free, personalised career guidance to youth across 1,500+ career options.

Under innovation, the Foundation strengthened the Wadhwani Innovation Network, enabling 10 Innovation Translation Centres, including two Super Hubs at IIT Kanpur (Wadhwani AI and Intelligent Systems Hub) and IIT Bombay (Wadhwani Health and Bio Hub). Together, these hubs support 50+ translation centres across the innovation ecosystem. Overall, 100 research projects were advanced toward product and startup pathways.

AI projects were delivered for six central ministries; ASHA (Anna Sahayata Holistic AI Solution) was launched to enable feedback from Public Distribution System (PDS) beneficiaries; and 30+ AI solutions were deployed across healthcare, agriculture, and education.

Building on this momentum, the Foundation will increase India investment by ~25% in 2026 and grow its India team by ~10%, expanding state- and city-level execution teams and deepening partnerships with governments, institutions, employers, and local ecosystems. Operating through a dual model for maximum impact, the Foundation’s national platforms will continue to provide scale and consistency, while state and city teams will drive delivery, coordination, and accountability on the ground. This includes limited role realignments to support state-level execution. All programs continue to be offered at zero cost to partners and beneficiaries.

Dr. Ajay Kela, CEO & Board member, Wadhwani Foundation, said: “Our mission is to create jobs and improve livelihoods at scale. Building on strong momentum in 2025, we are increasing investment and expanding our India team in 2026 to strengthen execution across states and cities. This will accelerate outcomes, creating more jobs locally and placing more job-ready people into them, as we progress toward our 2030 goals.”

With a sharp focus on moving closer to local ecosystems where impact is created and sustained, the Wadhwani Foundation continues its commitment to all programs across entrepreneurship, skilling, SMB growth, innovation, and government digital transformation.

MUMBAI: On World Diabetes Day, Hinduja Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the 110-year-old Hinduja Group, announces that it has transformed the lives of 1,000+ underprivileged children across Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai through its Type 1 Diabetes Initiative (T1DI), a unique model that provides comprehensive medical, nutritional, and emotional care to the children free of cost.

Launched in April 2019, the Foundation set out to help underprivileged children with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) lead healthy, fulfilling lives. In just six years, the initiative has significantly reduced hospitalisations and improved average HbA1c levels from 10.4% to 7.8%, among enrolled children. It has also strengthened families’ financial well-being and encouraged students to excel in state-level sports like archery and chess.

India currently ranks highest globally in the number of children living with T1D, with cases rising at nearly 6.7% annually, underscoring the urgent need for equitable, lifelong diabetes care.

“Type 1 Diabetes is not just a medical condition, it’s a lifelong journey of courage, discipline, and hope,” said Raman Kalyanakrishnan, CEO, Hinduja Foundation. “Through T1DI, we stand with every child and their family, helping them manage, adapt, and thrive through compassionate, community-based care.”

The Type 1 Diabetes India (T1DI) initiative, launched with P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation & Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, and KEM Hospital, Pune, extends comprehensive support to children from low-income families through free insulin, diagnostics, counselling, and peer-learning platforms that integrate access, awareness, and empathy-driven care.

What began as a medical intervention soon evolved into a story of transformation, with over 40 children further empowered through insulin pumps, including 20 advanced automated insulin delivery systems, giving them the freedom to live fuller, healthier lives. In Pune, the Foundation and KEM Hospital have created ClubOne, a vibrant peer-support platform that nurtures resilience, confidence, and hope among young patients.

The programme’s measurable impact includes:

Significant reduction in hospitalisations among enrolled children

Improvement in average HbA1c levels from 10.4% at the first visit to 7.8% by the 14th visit among enrolled children

Increased school attendance and renewed participation in extracurricular activities

Enhanced nutrition and growth outcomes, supported by regular dietary monitoring

The Foundation further contributes to global diabetes research through its collaboration with Harvard University’s Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology (CDIC), with findings presented at international forums in Bangkok and Vienna in 2025.

Building on this impact, the Foundation is exploring partnerships to make diabetes management more affordable, accessible, and digitally enabled across the country.

The laureates of the Infosys Prize 2025 were selected by an international panel of jurors comprising renowned scholars and experts. Since its inception, the ISF has recognized groundbreaking research and scholarship that have influenced various aspects of human life. From 2024, the prize has shifted focus to honor researchers under the age of 40, emphasizing the need for early recognition of exceptional talent. This encouragement of early-career researchers will serve as an inspiration for the next generation of scholars and innovators.

The winners of the Infosys Prize 2025 were announced by the trustees of ISF — Mr. K. Dinesh (President, Board of Trustees), Mr. Narayana Murthy, Mr. Srinath Batni, Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan, Dr. Pratima Murthy, and Mr. S. D. Shibulal. The other trustees of ISF — Mr. Mohandas Pai, Mr. Nandan Nilekani, and Mr. Salil Parekh — extended their congratulations to this year’s recipients.

The Infosys Prize remains the largest award in India that acknowledges excellence in science and research. In addition, laureates of the Infosys Prize have gone on to receive several prestigious international awards, including the Nobel Prize (Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo), the Fields medal (Manjul Bhargava and Akshay Venkatesh), the Dan David Prize (Sanjay Subrahmanyam), the MacArthur ‘genius’ Grant and British Academy Book Prize (Sunil Amrith), the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics (Ashoke Sen), and the Marconi Prize (Hari Balakrishnan). Several laureates have been elected fellows of the Royal Society, among them Gagandeep Kang, who became the first Indian woman to be elected Fellow of the Royal Society.

K. Dinesh, President – Board of Trustees, Infosys Science Foundation, said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the Infosys Prize 2025, whose achievements reflect the vital connection between research, science, and society, inspiring the next generation of innovators. The Infosys Prize continues to embody our belief that research and science are cornerstones of human progress. It reflects the Foundation’s enduring commitment to nurturing a culture that drives innovation and broadens understanding across disciplines.”

Shekhar Bajaj, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, addressing the occasion, said, “Every year, the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation Awards shine a light on extraordinary individuals whose selfless work brings Gandhian values to life in today’s world. This year’s recipients have not only transformed communities but also inspired a deeper commitment to compassion and constructive action. As we celebrate their achievements, we also take a moment to remember Late Shri Madhur Bajaj, whose quiet leadership and deep belief in the Foundation’s purpose remain an integral part of its journey forward. May these stories encourage many more to walk the path of service and social change.”

Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, Chairman of the Council of Advisers, stated, “Our awardees are our modern-day satyagrahis — warriors of conscience who fight with compassion, not confrontation. Each of them has proved that one determined heart can bring light where there was darkness, hope where there was despair. The awardees we honour today are living embodiments of Gandhian resilience, truth, and non-violence. Their work transcends boundaries and generations, proving that the principles of Shri Jamnalalji and Gandhiji remain timeless and transformative. Their dedication not only uplifts communities but also reaffirms our belief in the power of ethical leadership and unity in action.”

Minal Bajaj, Trustee & Hon. Director, Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation, stated, “Mahatma Gandhi had said about Shri Jamnalal Bajaj, who was adopted as his 5th son, that ‘he did not earn a single rupee through unethical means and whatever he earned, he spent it all for the good of the people.” Rather than an owner, he remained a trustee of his wealth. If one goes through the life of Shri Jamnalal Bajaj, one will recognize the tremendous influence that he had on Gandhiji. Jamanlal ji inspired his whole family to imbibe the Gandhian way of life. Our Awards purely serve these ideals. The Foundation leaves no stone unturned to reach the furthest corners of our country and the globe to identify the hidden gems, and they range from those who have transformed the lives of a small community to those who have dared to change the course of history of a nation. Our mission remains steadfast—to celebrate individuals and their selfless dedication.”

The Man behind the Awards – Jamnalal Bajaj was among the stalwarts who gave of himself completely – mind, body, and soul to India’s freedom movement. He overreached himself in making words into deeds and in implementing the Constructive Programme of Mahatma Gandhi, be it Khadi, Dalit-welfare, women’s emancipation, ethics in business, or preservation of cattle wealth through Goseva. So much so that Mahatma Gandhi adopted him as his fifth son and was the alter ego of the Mahatma in the Gandhian Constructive Movement. His second son, Ramkrishna Bajaj, carried this legacy through his ethical leadership in business and philanthropy and set up the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation to fulfil his father’s ideals.

About The Jamnalal Bajaj Awards – To promote and propagate Jamnalal Bajaj’s philanthropic vision as well as Gandhian ideology of rural development, the Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation instituted four Awards, which have come to be regarded as the most coveted in respective fields.

The Transformative Journey of Dantewada through the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation and Mann Deshi Foundation

CHHATTISGARH: In the remote corners of Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, where shadows of a dark past and volatile present loom over the villagers, Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF) and the Mann Deshi Foundation are ushering in a new dawn. Coordinated efforts, with support from the district administration, are helping shape a sports-empowered future for children, one maidan at a time.

Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF), committed to empowering children through sports, in partnership with the Mann Deshi Foundation, has introduced the Maidan Cup Competition, to give underprivileged children a platform to perform. For this competition, a total of 50 playgrounds across 50 participating villages across the Dantewada district are being carved out of barren lands. Already in action, the initiative is coming to fruition with active support from the District Collectors Mayank Chaturvedi, Kunal Dudawat, and the villagers.

For villagers long affected by naxalism, their children getting some scope and exposure for development through sports is a promising start in their overall stride towards a better future. Over 10,000 children are going to benefit from this initiative, with a projected 40% participation from girls, signalling a paradigm shift in girl child empowerment and gender equality. The broader impact of the Maidan Cup is aimed at reducing the crime rates in conflict zones by around 20% through sports programmes. With zeal and a unified spirit from all involved, including the villagers, a grassroots revolution is about to take shape in the conflict-ridden corners of Dantewada.

Through the Maidan Cup initiative, 50 villages in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, are transforming open areas into lively playgrounds—secure places where more than 10,000 children can play, develop, and aspire without boundaries. This effort goes beyond merely constructing playgrounds. It’s about creating a future brimming with hope and possibilities, particularly for girls, who are increasingly taking to the field in unprecedented numbers.

Objectives of the Maidan Cup initiative:

10,000 children will benefit directly.

50 playgrounds are being created in 2 months

20% potential drop in crime rates

40% rise in girls’ participation in sports

PUNE: The Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Foundation (PPCF) on Saturday organized ‘Utkarsh Sammelam’ at MES Auditorium, Kothrud. The program was organized to take a review fellowship initiative started by PPCF to support student education. Chief Guest Dr.Sanjay Runwal, Management Expert and Business Strategist, Mr.Pramod Chaudhari Chairman of Praj Industries, and Mrs.Parimal Chaudhari, Managing Trustee of Praj Foundation were present on the occasion. The website of the Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Foundation was unveiled at the hands of Mr.Pramod Chaudhari.

Around 15 students from high schools, junior colleges, and vocational courses who have excelled in their education during this ongoing fellowship were felicitated on the occasion. The efforts of nine institutes that have helped identify needy students were also felicitated on the occasion.

Advocating the concept of ‘DGL’ ( doing good in life ) Chief Guest Dr.Sanjay Runwal said that the work of PCCF will inspire people to do good for society. Doing something good does not only mean helping with money but with experience, expertise, exposure, education, and excellence. We all have these in some of the other forms and therefore we all can do something for our society and our nation. He added that today’s world presents a lot of opportunities for youngsters and nobody can stop them from dreaming big.

Mrs.Parimal Chaudhari said that education is the first step to success in our lives. Education presents everybody with equitable opportunities. This opportunity should be available to all and we should all work towards this.

The fellowship program is in its fourth year and has been started by PCCF to support students who are passionate about education but could not qualify for traditional scholarships. While highly meritorious students receive standard scholarships, the PPCF Fellowship provides financial support to students who have the capacity and intent for further education and have scored 50% or more in their last examination. The aim is to enable them to become self-reliant at the earliest and start contributing to their family’s financial well-being.

Since 2021, PPCF has been granting Fellowships to students from schools, colleges, and vocational training institutes, within around a 100-kilometer radius of Pune. Eligible students undergo a selection process based on predefined criteria. In addition, a home visit is conducted to assess and verify the student’s family and financial background. PPCF covers the entire educational cost for selected students which allows them to focus on their studies without being worried about finances.

The review of the program at the Utkarsh Sammelan revealed that 2593 students from 125 institutes have benefited, of which approximately 60% of students are female. 728 students received the Fellowship for vocational training, and 111 have completed their course are employed, and have started supporting their families. Their achievement is a testament to the PPCF’s impactful work.

Akkineni Nagarjuna states, “I am delighted that the Film Heritage Foundation is celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of my father with a festival of his landmark films across the country. He was rightly called Natasamrat for his amazing ability to play a range of roles from a saint to an alcoholic to a romantic hero in a way that has stayed in people’s hearts and minds for decades. His performance in Devadasu has been acknowledged as one of the best across all versions of the film over the years and his films like Premabhishekam, Doctor Chakravarthi and Sudigundalu are loved even today. He was a pioneer who established Annapurna Studios, laying the first foundation for the Telugu film industry in our state. We are very proud of his legacy and through this festival audiences across the country will remember an icon not just of Telugu cinema but of Indian cinema. We would like to preserve this legacy so that people will remember him for another hundred years. The entire Akkineni family would like to thank the NFDC-NFAI and PVR-Inox for partnering with us to make this festival possible.”

Prithul Kumar, Joint Secretary (Films) and Managing Director, NFDC-National Film Archive Of India states, “NFDC-NFAI is deeply honoured to collaborate in commemorating the birth centenary of Shri. Akkineni Nageswara Rao, by presenting seven timeless classics, restored in 4K from prints and negatives held in the archive’s collection. This event is not just a tribute to a legendary actor but also a testament to our commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Indian cinema. By bringing these masterpieces back to the big screen, we hope to evoke a deep sense of pride and nostalgia, allowing audiences to reconnect with the golden era of our film history. Our sincere thanks go to PVR-INOX for providing the platform to share these films with the nation, to Annapurna Studios and Film Heritage Foundation for their curation and planning, and to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for funding this endeavour under the National Film Heritage Mission.”

Each film in the showcase highlights ANR’s remarkable versatility and celebrates the rich legacy of Telugu cinema. Through this festival, PVR INOX and the Film Heritage Foundation aim to rekindle admiration for ANR’s work while introducing his timeless classics to a new generation of audiences.

The Akkineni Nageswara Rao Film Festival will be hosted across 31 cities, including major hubs like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Gurugram, Ahmedabad and many more, allowing fans nationwide to join in the celebration of this cinematic legend.

MUMBAI: NABARD commemorated its 43rd Foundation Day with a grand celebration at its Headquarters in Mumbai. The occasion was honored by eminent guests, stakeholders, and well-wishers who have played a critical role in NABARD’s developmental journey.

The highlight of the celebration was a Panel Discussion on “Climate Risk Management and Banking.” The panel featured esteemed experts including Dr. Trupti Mishra, Professor at IIT Bombay, Shri Santosh Kumar Singh, MD of Intellecap, and Dr. Sat Singh Tomer, CEO of Satyukt (Start-up). The discussion was adeptly moderated by Shri Vivek Adhia from BCG. In addition, several significant publications were released, and a short film was launched to mark the occasion.

Laying out a brief timeline of the organization, NABARD Chairman Shri Shaji K. V. discussed NABARD’s journey over the past 4 decades. He said, “Over the past four decades, NABARD has been a cornerstone of rural development in India. From pioneering the SHG-Bank Linkage Program to supporting JLGs and FPOs, our initiatives have empowered millions of rural households and farmers. Our interventions have fostered financial inclusion, enhanced productivity, and driven sustainable development. Embracing digital transformation, we are helping GOI in computerizing 65,000 PACS and integrated Core Banking Solutions in numerous rural cooperative banks. As we continue to innovate and adapt, our mission remains the same: to uplift the rural economy, ensuring prosperity and resilience for all rural communities.”

Mr G.S. Rawat, DMD of NABARD, emphasized on the need to address the issues related to the agri and rural sectors of the country. “Despite the geographical and infrastructural limitations, our country is among the top 5 producers of agri-commodity in the world. There is still a credit gap in the northeastern regions of the country that needs to be addressed. NABARD is dedicated to working towards finding solutions to the challenges and bridging the gap by leveraging technology. We need innovations to ensure the credit flow to small farmers from remote areas of the country. Innovation will be a catalyst in enhancing the efficiency of the existing agri value chain”

Highlighting NABARD’s key role in the development and prosperity of rural India, Dr. A.K. Sood, DMD of NABARD, said, “Nothing delivers results like success, and we have consistently increased our credit flow to agriculture, delivering impactful results and touching the lives of millions of farmers over two-and-a-half decades. We are also embracing technology to explore new frontiers in financial inclusion, leveraging fintech for underserved rural India. Our challenges now are new—climate change, water scarcity, and an unceasing spiral of indebtedness among farmers. But shoulder-to-shoulder with all stakeholders, we will continue to strive to build a more inclusive and resilient rural India.“

Concluding the event, Shri Shaji K.V. reiterated the pivotal NABARD has to play in realizing the dream of ‘Vikasit Bharat’ by 2047. “We are also looking forward to strengthening the other sectors like fisheries and we believe that our initiatives will help in the growth of rural GDP to support the growth of our country. NABARD has an important role to play in strengthening the foundation of the vision of ‘Vikasit Bharat’ by 2047”.

The 43rd Foundation Day celebration of NABARD was a resounding success, reflecting its enduring legacy and future aspirations.

Over the past 25 years of its operations in India, ADP has made significant contributions to various causes, including the installation of 83 CCTV cameras for community safety in Hyderabad, the establishment of an ICU ward at Nilofer Children’s Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, and donation to the PM COVID Relief Fund. Most recently, ADP concluded its May Month of Caring 2024, which involved numerous charitable activities through associate donations and volunteer efforts across its Hyderabad and Pune offices. In addition to several initiatives for children, women and youth empowerment, and community health and sustainability, this amplifies ADP India’s larger CSR strategy that looks at the company’s behavior towards a wave of corporate citizenship and social development.
