HYDERABAD: Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hill,s proudly announces a historic medical milestone – Dr. Rooma Sinha, Senior Consultant in Gynaecology and Robotic Surgery, has successfully performed over 1,000 robotic surgeries for benign Gynaecological conditions, making her India’s highest-volume single surgeon in this field.

Specializing in the treatment of complex fibroids and advanced endometriosis, Dr. Sinha has become a globally recognized name in robotic-assisted gynaecology. This achievement represents not only a personal surgical feat but also a transformative leap in minimally invasive, fertility-preserving care for women in India.

“This achievement underscores Apollo’s position as the premier destination for robotic surgery in India,” said Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group. “Dr. Rooma Sinha’s journey exemplifies how technology and empathy can converge to transform women’s health.”

“Apollo Jubilee Hills continues to raise the bar in adopting path-breaking technologies. Dr. Sinha’s achievement is not only a triumph of skill but also of vision. She is helping make robotic gynaecology mainstream in India,” said Tejesvi Rao, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Telangana Region.

On this occasion, Dr. Rooma Sinha stated: “In India, fibroids affect an estimated 25–50% of reproductive-age women, while up to 10% suffer from endometriosis—conditions that often lead to infertility, chronic pelvic pain, and repeated surgeries. Traditional open surgeries pose significant risks, including longer recovery times and reduced fertility outcomes.”

“Recognizing the urgent need for safer, precision-based, and fertility-preserving solutions, I adopted and advanced robotic surgery to revolutionize gynaecologic care. My mission is simple: No woman should undergo open surgery when a safer, minimally invasive option exists. This milestone isn’t just mine—it belongs to every patient who trusted me, every student I’ve taught, and every woman we’ve helped to heal with dignity, improving their quality of life.”

She said Robotic surgery offers particular benefits in cases of advanced endometriosis, large or multiple fibroids, previous multiple surgeries, and obesity situations where traditional surgery carries higher risks. It is also increasingly used in treating uterine cancers, where robotic techniques enable greater precision and safety.

Over 600 gynecologists from across India attended the event, along with an impressive lineup of 18 international and 250 Indian faculty, making it a melting pot of expertise, innovation, and collaboration.

The conference was honored to host the President of the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopy, along with leading experts from Italy, France, Europe, America, and Turkey, who shared insights into the latest advancements in minimally invasive gynecological surgery. Themed “Innovate, Operate, Elevate,” the sessions covered the latest advancements in laparoscopic surgery, endometriosis management, and reproductive healthcare.

At the heart of this extraordinary event was Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar, Organizing Chairperson, President of FOGSI, and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, IVF & Endoscopy Centre at Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune. A visionary leader and a driving force in the field of gynecological endoscopy, Dr. Tandulwadkar’s commitment to excellence and education has transformed the way surgeons approach minimally invasive procedures.
