Continuing ‘Chuniye Bharosa, Apno Sa’, Pankaj Tripathi urges families to prioritize health and financial security

MUMBAI: SBI General Insurance, one of India’s leading general insurance companies, has announced a new film featuring Pankaj Tripathi in continuation of its campaign ‘Chuniye Bharosa, Apno Sa’. The film highlights the growing need for health insurance in our daily lives and in these uncertain times.

India is witnessing a steady rise in lifestyle-related health concerns and medical inflation, increasing the financial burden on households during emergencies. Recent government data released through the National Statistical Office’s (NSO) 80th round health survey showed that an average hospitalisation in the country now leads to an out-of-pocket expenditure of over ₹34,000 for households, underscoring the significant financial burden medical emergencies can place on families despite growing health insurance penetration.

Featuring Pankaj Tripathi, the film is rooted in the realities of everyday life. It vividly reflects the daily hustle, long commutes, demanding workdays, and sacrifices people make to secure a better future for their families. Through an emotional and relatable narrative, the film reminds viewers that while they work tirelessly for their loved ones, they often overlook a key priority: protecting their family’s health and financial well-being and securing the future of those who matter most. The campaign reinforces the importance of choosing trusted and adequate health insurance support during uncertain times.

Speaking on this, Rathin Lahiri, Head – Marketing & CSR, SBI General Insurance, said, “Healthcare preparedness today is about more than just owning an insurance policy. For salaried individuals with family responsibilities, setting aside at least 2% of annual income towards insurance can be a prudent step to address changing health needs and rising medical costs. Through our Chuniye Bharosa, Apno Sa campaign, featuring Pankaj Tripathi as brand ambassador, we wanted to reflect the everyday efforts people make for their loved ones while encouraging a more proactive approach to protecting their family’s health and financial well-being. The campaign underscores the importance of choosing coverage that genuinely supports families during uncertain times.”

Health insurance today is evolving beyond emergency financial support to become an important pillar of long-term healthcare and financial preparedness for families. Planning through adequate health coverage can often help families navigate medical uncertainties more confidently while reducing financial strain during emergencies.

SBI General Insurance continues to offer customer-centric health insurance solutions designed to support individuals and families with comprehensive coverage and flexible benefits. Its recently launched Health Alpha plan offers customisable coverage options, cashless hospitalisation across an extensive hospital network, preventive healthcare benefits, coverage for modern treatments, and seamless claims assistance, helping customers choose protection suited to their evolving healthcare needs.

INDIA: Dr. Reddy’s and Nestlé Health Science Limited, a joint venture between Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BSE: 500124, NSE: DRREDDY, NYSE: RDY, NSEIFSC: DRREDDY; along with its subsidiaries together referred to as “Dr. Reddy’s”) and Nestlé India Limited (BSE: 500790, NSE: NESTLEIND) referred hereafter as “Nestlé India”, today announced the launch of Celevida®GLP+, a specialised scientifically designed product to support optimum nutrition intake and muscle mass maintenance for sustaining metabolic and functional health for people undergoing GLP-1/GIP therapy* for management of type 2 diabetes and obesity in India.

As GLP-1/GIP–based therapies become more widely adopted in the management of type 2 diabetes and obesity, improving access to advanced treatment options for patients, it has become increasingly important to build an integrated ecosystem beyond medication. Encompassing nutrition, clinical monitoring, and long-term patient support, this ecosystem should be an enabler for sustained and holistic outcomes for patients managing type 2 diabetes and obesity. A critical component of this approach is addressing the nutritional gaps and muscle health challenges associated with these therapies to improve overall outcomes.

M.V. Ramana, CEO, Global Generics at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited and Director, Dr. Reddy’s and Nestlé Health Science Limited, “GLP-1 therapies represent a significant advancement in diabetes and obesity management. However, a clear unmet need remains in supporting patients beyond pharmacological treatment, particularly in addressing nutrition gaps and preserving muscle health during therapy. As patients experience changes in body composition, ensuring adequate nutrient intake and maintaining lean body mass become critical to sustaining long-term outcomes. With Celevida® GLP+, we aim to address this gap through a targeted, science-backed nutritional solution that complements pharmacological therapies and supports better overall patient outcomes in their everyday journey. As part of this commitment, we remain focused on advancing integrated, patient-centric solutions that enable more sustainable and holistic management of metabolic health.”

Insights from senior Indian clinicians highlighted a critical and often under-recognized risk: muscle loss during GLP-1/GIP therapy. Studies indicate that 25-40% of total weight loss associated with GLP-1 and dual GLP-1/GIP therapies may be attributed to lean body mass loss (1,2). Experts noted that this risk may be amplified in Indians due to inherently lower baseline skeletal muscle mass and higher body fat mass (3), which may be further compounded by chronically low protein intake of approximately 0.6g/kg/day(4). This creates a dual vulnerability, making muscle preservation not just important, but essential for long-term metabolic health.

Clinical and expert consensus recommend increasing protein intake to 1.2–1.5 g/kg/day to help preserve muscle mass during weight loss, highlighting the need for customised nutritional support (5).

Addressing this need, Celevida® GLP+ has been scientifically designed and co-created with leading endocrinologists and diabetologists to address protein gaps and preserve muscle mass and function in individuals undergoing GLP-1/GIP therapy. It is formulated using fast-absorbing whey protein isolate (WPI), known to be gentle on the gut and suitable during periods of gastrointestinal intolerance commonly associated with GLP-1/GIP therapy. Celevida® GLP+ provides 48 g of protein per 100 g, along with 100% RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). It also provides 27 essential nutrients, including vitamins A, D, and calcium. Dr. Reddy’s and Nestlé Health Science have an established presence in specialised nutrition for people with diabetes through its Celevida® Diabetes Nutrition, designed to support comprehensive diabetes management. The formulation is clinically proven to support sustained 24-hour blood glucose control and reduce HbA1c levels (6), and is characterised by a low glycaemic index(7), making it suitable for long-term metabolic management.

Celevida® GLP+ is available in a 350 g pack across pharmacies, retail outlets, and leading e-commerce platforms.

The 20–40 age cohort drives sustained growth

NEW DELHI: India’s maternity healthcare landscape is undergoing a significant shift, with more women accessing formal, institutional care than ever before. As per data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with over 88–90% of births now occurring in institutional settings, the share of institutional deliveries has reached 97.3% in 2023–24, signalling a sustained shift towards formal, hospital-based maternal care. Government data presented in 2025 further showed that C-section deliveries accounted for over 27% of all reported births in India during 2024–25, reinforcing the growing shift towards medically intensive maternity care.

Against this backdrop, Care Health Insurance highlights a clear expansion in women’s health claims, both in scale and intensity. Women’s health insurance claims rose 37% from FY25 to FY26, with the 20–40 age group continuing to drive this growth, increasing from 25% over the same period.

At the same time, maternity-related claims are becoming more cost-intensive, with Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities continuing to account for a larger share of overall claims, contributing to 60% of all maternity claims reported to the company.

A shift in the maternal age profile is also visible. In FY26, women aged above 35 years accounted for 12% of total maternity claim volumes, which was higher compared to previous years and increasing. The cost of this age group was 18% of the overall claim amount, indicating higher cost intensity associated with later-age pregnancies.

Overall maternity claim outgo has risen by 25% over the last two years, even as claim volumes have fluctuated, indicating a shift towards higher spend per case.

While deliveries are becoming increasingly institutionalized and more efficient, the proportion of women discharged within five days for maternal care has increased from 75% in FY24 to 82% in FY26. This duration of discharge is not resulting in cost reduction; instead, the company has seen an upward trend in cost intensity for maternal treatment.

Taken together, these trends reflect a structural shift in maternal healthcare, with rising cost intensity and evolving care patterns driving higher financial exposure. The findings are further reinforced by broader public health data, which indicates that a majority of women in India are accessing formal antenatal care services, while three out of four continue to have inadequate dietary iron intake, highlighting persistent nutritional gaps and long-term health vulnerabilities beyond maternity.

Commenting on the findings, Manish Dodeja, Executive Director & Chief Business Officer, Care Health Insurance, said, “Women’s health insurance claims are no longer following a linear growth pattern; they are expanding in both scale and intensity. We are seeing a clear shift in the maternity landscape, with costs rising steadily. While care pathways are becoming more efficient, the financial exposure associated with maternal healthcare is increasing. This is not just a utilisation trend; it reflects a broader shift in how women are accessing and experiencing healthcare today. It is therefore important for individuals to periodically reassess their coverage to ensure it remains aligned with evolving needs.”

As maternal healthcare continues to formalise and utilisation rises, ensuring adequate and timely health insurance coverage remains critical to managing financial exposure and ensuring continuity of care.

PUNE: Hernia is a common yet often overlooked condition that can significantly affect quality of life if not treated in time. It occurs when an organ or tissue pushes through a weakened area in the surrounding muscle. Factors such as heavy lifting, chronic coughing, obesity, and previous surgeries can increase the risk.

According to the World Health Organization, untreated surgical conditions, including hernia, contribute notably to the global disease burden. Data from the National Center for Biotechnology Information indicates that inguinal hernia affects nearly 27% of men and around 3% of women during their lifetime. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also highlights the importance of early diagnosis and timely surgical care to prevent complications.

Hernia often begins as a small, painless bulge in the groin, abdomen, or near a previous surgical site, leading many individuals to ignore it. However, early signs may include a dragging sensation, mild discomfort, pressure after prolonged standing, and abdominal heaviness or bloating. Recognizing these symptoms early and seeking medical advice is crucial.

Diagnosis is typically straightforward through physical examination, with imaging used in select cases. Early detection allows for simpler and more effective treatment.

“In my practice, I have treated many patients who initially noticed only a small swelling. It is important to understand how this condition can progress if left untreated. With timely intervention, patients are often reassured by how straightforward the procedure is and how quickly symptoms such as swelling and discomfort improve after repair,” said Dr Parmeshwar Bhambrule, Senior Consultant, Healing Hands Hospital.

Advancements in hernia therapy have made treatment safer and more efficient. Minimally invasive techniques involve smaller incisions, resulting in less pain, a quicker recovery, and a shorter hospital stay. The use of surgical mesh to further strengthen the affected area further reduces the risk of recurrence, enabling patients to resume daily activities comfortably.

Delaying treatment can lead to complications such as incarceration, where tissue becomes trapped, or strangulation, a serious condition requiring emergency care.

“I always advise my patients that hernia treatment is not just about correcting a visible bulge but also about preventing complications and improving overall quality of life. Many patients experience better mobility, improved sleep, and a quicker return to normal routines following timely treatment,” said Dr Vinayak Kshirsagar, DY Patil Hospital, Pune.

Maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding excessive strain, and addressing a persistent cough can help reduce risk. Increased awareness, early diagnosis, and timely intervention remain key to effective hernia management and long-term well-being.

Aster Whitefield Hospital Launches Karnataka’s First Dedicated Liver ICU: Pivotal shift in Liver-specific critical care in the Region

BENGALURU: Taking a major initiative towards expert liver care, Aster Whitefield Hospital has declared the launch of the first dedicated Liver Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Karnataka. This is a state-of-the-art facility designed only for liver failure patients, those having biliary problems, and liver transplant cases. The ICU, named SHIELD (Specialized Hepatic Intensive & Emergency Liver Division), is a state-of-the-art facility designed solely for patients with liver failure, biliary problems, and liver transplant cases. Setting the Liver-specific ICU as a real rescue for patients in critical condition, it is a confluence of renowned doctors, modern facilities, and continuous patient monitoring to provide highly specialised, multi-disciplinary care aimed at improving patient outcomes. Through this, Aster has once again shown its desire to promote islands of excellence aimed at quaternary single-organ care pathways for better results for patients with complicated liver diseases. The programme was honoured by the presence of Dr. C. N. Manjunath, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), as the Chief Guest.

Speaking ahead of the inauguration, Dr. C. N. Manjunath said, “Liver problems are turning out to be a sneaky but major health issue in India, and usually, it’s at a very severe stage when the patients are found. A liver ICU dedicated to liver care opening at Aster Whitefield Hospital is a very appropriate and great step that will enable our healthcare system to be more efficient and quicker in handling very difficult liver cases. Apart from better survival chances, specialized facilities equip the patient care to be comprehensive and in collaboration with various medical disciplines.”

Adding to this, Dr. H R S Girn, Senior Consultant – HPB and Liver Transplant surgeon, Aster Whitefield Hospital, said: “The establishment of a specialty Liver ICU represents an innovative approach in the establishment of a single point care facility for liver sick patients requiring what we call the Liver Arc services (Hepatology, ICU, Surgery, Transplantation, Luminal and radiological interventions) under one roof. A person with decompensated cirrhosis or liver failure experiences rapid changes within a short period of time. Thus, in this case, having a speciality dedicated ICU implies that all actions can be taken efficiently and effectively for the patients and their families. In turn, this provides a seamless referral and healthcare delivery pathway aimed at holistic liver care, liver-specific training for budding future specialists, and brings liver care at par with other resource-intensive single-organ dedicated ICUs like the Cardiac or Neuro ICUs, which have traditionally been the norm. With busy lives, nuclear families, and increasing liver disease burden in the country, single organ-specific facilities under trusted brands like Aster are the need of the hour as a single point of contact resource for the patients suffering from life-threatening conditions.”

Srikant Subudhi, Chief Operating Officer, Aster Whitefield Hospital, added: “At Aster Whitefield Hospital, the core of our efforts is the creation of highly sophisticated, patient-oriented healthcare ecosystems that can effectively meet the various clinical needs of today and tomorrow. The launching of Karnataka’s first dedicated Liver ICU is a powerful indication of how we are always ready to put our money into the specialised infrastructure which is capable of dealing with the increasing complexity of liver-related diseases. Not only does this facility leverage state-of-the-art technology and a wide range of medical experts, but it also ensures continuous monitoring for better clinical results and provides easier access to specialised and high-quality treatment.“

The Liver ICU will be a collaborative endeavor by a team of highly skilled and proficient physicians, including liver transplantation surgeons, hepatologists, and gastroenterologists, as well as critical care specialists. This dedicated unit will try to fill a major void in the liver care infrastructure of Karnataka, and it will be a one-stop solution for patients to get timely, cutting-edge, and life-saving treatment.

nSEPIA Beta opens its first phase of market testing

The platform combines emotion measurement, personalised intervention, and outcome validation within one system

PUNE: Nihilent has announced the launch of nSEPIA Beta, marking the first market testing phase of the world’s first emotion wellness platform designed to help users measure their emotional state objectively and improve it through personalised interventions within minutes. The beta is now available for market testing.

The opening of nSEPIA’s private beta was marked with a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony by Kiran Deshpande, Executive Council Member, SemiX IIT Bombay, and Board Member, 14Trees Foundation, signifying the beginning of a transformative journey in emotional wellness. The evening also brought together the first “Founding Circle”, a select group of early participants who will actively engage with the platform and contribute to shaping its evolution.

Built as a closed-loop system and grounded in a clear belief that emotional wellness should be accessible, understood, and available on demand, nSEPIA has been developed to bring structure and measurability to emotional wellness. The platform first detects a user’s emotional state through a quick scan, then recommends interventions aligned to that state, and finally enables the user to validate change through a rescan. In doing so, it moves emotional wellness away from assumption and subjective interpretation toward clearer understanding and measurable response.

At a time when stress, anxiety, burnout, worry, and emotional strain are becoming a growing part of everyday life, nSEPIA addresses a gap that has remained largely unresolved. While physical health can be assessed through established indicators, emotional health has continued to rely on self-report, expression, or broad wellness content. nSEPIA has been built to change that by enabling users to understand, track, and improve their emotional state clearly and consistently.

The platform begins with a 30second scan that captures emotional state in real time. Powered by Emoscape, a clinically validated emotion AI engine that objectively extracts emotional signatures independent of expression, language, and culture, the scan is intended to give users a more objective understanding of how they actually feel. Following this, users are presented with a visual representation of their emotional state in the form of an emotion orb and observation-based guidance that explains the state in simple language.

At its core is the Emoscape engine. An AI-led system that scans the face for subtle, involuntary signals to map emotional state in real time, independent of expression or language. The goal is simple: to help people understand what they truly feel, and work with it more effectively.

Based on the emotional state detected, nSEPIA offers exclusive, science-backed emotion interventions including music, breathwork, yoga, and meditation. These are not generic wellness options, but experiences aligned to the user’s current emotional state. The platform also includes an emotion scale, progress tracking, and a rescan option that allows users to observe whether their emotional state has shifted after an intervention.

This combination of emotional clarity, personalised action, and measurable proof defines nSEPIA’s value and sets it apart from existing offerings in the wellness space. Rather than functioning as a meditation app or a therapy alternative, nSEPIA introduces a new category that combines emotion measurement, personalised intervention, and outcome validation within one system.

The beta launch will allow Nihilent to test nSEPIA in the market, understand how users engage with the platform, and gather feedback that will help shape the next stage of its development. The beta phase is expected to offer early insight into user behaviour, intervention preferences, and the role such a platform can play in everyday emotional wellbeing.

Speaking on the launch, L. C. Singh, Founder and Executive Chairman, Nihilent, said, “Technology has measured almost everything around us, but very little within us. nSEPIA is a step toward changing that. nSEPIA Beta represents an important step in bringing a new way of looking at emotional wellness into the market. While emotional health affects everyday life in profound ways, it has largely remained outside the reach of structured measurement and response. nSEPIA has been built to address that gap. It gives users a way to understand their emotional state more clearly, act on it through relevant interventions, and track change over time. With the beta now available for market testing, we look forward to seeing how this platform begins to shape real-world use.

With the launch of nSEPIA Beta, Nihilent takes an important step in opening early market access to a platform built around clarity, response, and measurable progress, while introducing a new approach to emotional wellness.

L-Carnitine is a nutrient essential for energy production through the transport of long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria for β-oxidation, making it valuable for wellness routines focused on fat utilization. Found in foods like red meat, dairy, and avocados, the body also synthesizes it from lysine and methionine, though supplementation addresses the insufficient supply of L–carnitine through diet. Scientific evidence establishes its role in facilitating fatty acid breakdown, which may aid in reducing stored body fat alongside diet and exercise, with green tea providing complementary support by blocking malonyl-CoA.

Studies, including those referenced in wellness research, show L-Carnitine can contribute to burning fat, aid weight management, and improve endurance when combined with a balanced diet and standard physical activity.

In India, where urban consumers seek simple weight management solutions, Tetley Green Tea, one of Tata Consumer Products’ trusted brands, has pioneered its use in Tetley Green Tea Slim Care. This breakthrough variant infuses premium green tea with added L-Carnitine, which, when combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity, assists in reducing body fat alongside a refreshing taste. It is not your regular green tea; it is purposeful wellness in every sip.

By Deepali Maheshwari, MASLP (Senior Speech and Language therapist, walnut clinic)

Imagine a garden where some seeds sprout overnight, while others remain beneath the soil, waiting for the right conditions to bloom. In child development, we often hear the phrase “wait and watch,” but for a child facing neurodivergent challenges, waiting can mean missing the most critical growth window. Early Intervention is that “right condition”, it is the specialized sunlight and soil that allows a child to flourish. At Walnut Child Development Clinic, we don’t just wait for milestones; we create the neurological pathways that make them possible. Whether it is a child with Autism finding their first words or a toddler with ADHD learning to navigate a sensory-heavy world, our mission is to turn “I can’t” into “I did.”

The Science of “Now”
The human brain undergoes its most rapid period of development between birth and age 5. During this window, neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new neural connections, is at its peak. Early Intervention is not just about “catching up”; it is about clinical precision. By addressing concerns like primitive reflex integration, communication, social pragmatics, sensory processing, and motor planning early on, we can literally reshape a child’s developmental trajectory.

At Walnut Clinic, our approach moves beyond traditional therapy. We look at the “whole child.” For instance, a child struggling with attention in school might actually be dealing with underlying postural insecurities or unintegrated reflexes. By addressing the root physiological cause, we unlock their ability to learn and engage.

A Holistic Ecosystem of Care
True transformation requires more than a single perspective, which is why Walnut Clinic operates as a multidisciplinary sanctuary. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Chanchal Agrawal and Mrs. Deepali Maheshwari, our team works in a seamless loop of communication. We understand that a child isn’t a collection of isolated symptoms; they are a complex, blooming individual. To support this, we offer a comprehensive range of evidence-based treatments:

Occupational Therapy: Improving sensory processing, fine motor skills, and independence in daily activities.

Speech and Language Therapy: Bridging communication gaps for both verbal and non-verbal children.

Pediatric Physiotherapy: Enhancing functional strength, posture, and gross motor milestones.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Behavioral Support: Utilizing structured strategies to manage social transitions and school-based behaviors.

Special Education: Tailoring learning techniques to meet the unique cognitive needs of every learner.

Group therapy: To enhance child social development ( Pragmatics)

A 360-Degree Support System for Families
We firmly believe that a child’s progress shouldn’t be confined to a 45-minute therapy session. This is why Walnut Clinic is a pioneer in building a supportive ecosystem that extends far beyond the therapy room. We don’t just treat children; we empower entire families through our dedicated community initiatives.
We also host free parental support groups that serve as a safe space for families to connect, share experiences, and learn strategies for navigating challenges.
Furthermore, we believe that the right tools make all the difference in home-based progress. The Walnut Store offers a curated selection of therapeutic toys, sensory tools, and educational aids specifically chosen by our experts to complement your child’s clinical goals. This ensures that the progress made at our clinic continues seamlessly within the comfort of your home.

Conclusion: Empowering the Journey Ahead
The true measure of early intervention is not found in a single session, but in the long-term confidence a child carries into the world. It is about ensuring that every child, regardless of their starting point, has the tools to navigate life with independence and joy. At Walnut Child Development Clinic, we see our role as more than just therapists; we are partners in your child’s growth. By bridging the gap between clinical expertise and a supportive community through our workshops, store, and support groups, we strive to make the developmental journey one of hope and celebration rather than stress. Your child’s potential is a story waiting to be written, and we are here to provide the support needed to make every chapter a success.
