Support for creating 5 university townships near industrial corridors, viability gap funding for establishing girl’s hostel in every district to increase the percentage of girls in higher education, and the formation of a new high-power committee to align education with job market demands and to assess the impact of AI are some of the announcements that can impact the education sector in the coming years.

Some other significant announcements for the education sector include the formation of the much-needed Education-to-Employment and Entrepreneurship Committee. The budget also supports training 1 lakh allied health professionals over five years, focusing on various areas, including important yet neglected segments like applied psychology and behavioral health. Happy to see some attention for education and skill development.

SBUP University Pioneers the Integration of AI in Liberal Arts Education

PUNE: The new age artificial intelligence (AI) is likely to impact our lives significantly. Every sector will have some effect of AI, and the branch of Humanities and Social Sciences will be no different. Thus, in a bid to make students ready for the competitive world filled with this futuristic technology, the city-based School of Liberal Arts at Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP) has proactively decided to introduce special educational modules about AI in the Liberal Arts Education.

Dr. Preeti Joshi, Principal, School of Liberal Arts, SBUP said, “Most of the students of Liberal Arts go for the career at creative fields like films, theater, media, content creation, advertising, creative writing, PR, politics, art and event management where AI tools will play a major role in the coming days. So, to make them ready for this future situation in their lives, we will introduce them to AI through specially designed educational modules spread across the Bachelor’s Program in Liberal Arts.”

“The focus will be on making them understand the basics of AI and, most importantly, the ethical use of AI in their educational and work life. This will be done with the help of some in-house faculty members and through special sessions and workshops of external experts from the field of AI. We would be introducing AI for the students of BA Liberal Arts from the upcoming academic year, starting from July 2025”, Dr. Joshi added.

SBUP To Start BA (Liberal Arts) From This Academic Year

PUNE: Sri Balaji University, Pune known for top-class higher education in management, law, and computer science is all set to start the sought-after BA (Liberal Arts) and BA (Hons) Psychology programs this academic year.

While sharing the highlights of the BA (Liberal Arts) program, Dr Preeti Joshi, a renowned expert from the field of Liberal Arts and the Principal of SBUP’s School of Liberal Arts, School of Humanities & Social Sciences said, “Our BA (Liberal Arts) program is designed as per the NEP 20202 guidelines and elements of IKS (Indian Knowledge System) are integrated in the curriculum. The focus is more on skilled-based and experiential learning with a good amount of emphasis on research.“

“The BA (Liberal Arts) program will offer a flexible course combination with a multidisciplinary approach with major, minor, and open elective basket. The approach would be interdisciplinary with more importance given to developing problem-solving skills. Apart from the classroom teaching, the well-experienced and expert faculty members will also be providing out-of-the-classroom learning opportunities. Regular interaction with industry experts to provide good industry exposure would be some of the key features of the programs“, Dr Joshi added.

The eligibility criteria to apply for BA (Liberal Arts) and BA (Hons) Psychology is a minimum of 50% marks in HSC or 12th standard and personal interview. Both of these are 4 years programs with exit options.
