This removes the need for physical tokens and helps reduce waiting time at stations, making travel faster and more convenient. The initiative is expected to benefit over 3 lakh commuters daily across both cities.

INDIA:  A key stretch of Mumbai Metro Line 3, from Dharavi to Acharya Atre Chowk, has been inaugurated, marking steady progress in the city’s underground metro network. The project is being implemented by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL), with financial assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) program, in partnership with the Government of India.

Commenting on the occasion, TAKEUCHI Takuro, Chief Representative of JICA India, said, “The partial opening of Mumbai Metro Line 3 highlights our shared commitment to strengthening sustainable urban mobility in India. It brings us closer to realizing a more efficient, inclusive, and environmentally friendly transport network in Mumbai. By offering faster, more accessible commute options, this line will significantly improve the daily travel experience of thousands of passengers. Our cooperation with the Government of India and MMRCL has been instrumental in this achievement, and we remain committed to supporting the successful completion of the full corridor.”

Mumbai Metro Line 3, spanning approximately 34 kilometers, is the city’s first underground metro line and will connect the southern business district of Cuffe Parade to SEEPZ in north-central Mumbai. With 26 underground and 1 at-grade station, the project is expected to significantly reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and provide a safer, more comfortable commuting experience. Once fully operational, it is expected to serve about 1.5 million passengers daily, with trains running every three to four minutes. 6 stations have become operational in this phase, bringing the total number of operational stations to 16.​Travel time from the airport to Acharya Atre Chowk Station will be reduced to approximately 27 minutes. Passengers will be able to travel this section in less than half the time it would take by car.  

In addition to enhancing urban mobility, the project promotes inclusive travel through features such as women-only coaches, priority seating, and surveillance systems to enhance safety in both stations and trains. The operationalization of this section is expected to provide immediate benefits to daily commuters while contributing to broader climate goals by easing road traffic congestion and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by an estimated 261,968 tons of CO₂ equivalent annually.

The total cost of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 project is estimated at JPY 680,692 million, with JICA providing financial support of JPY 354,132 million through five tranches since 2013.

As a key initiative under JICA’s partnership with India, the Mumbai Metro Line 3 project is a step toward building a modern, connected, and climate-resilient urban future. By improving everyday access to safe, affordable, and efficient public transport, the project not only enhances quality of life for millions of commuters but also supports broader goals around reducing emissions, easing traffic congestion, and shaping sustainable cities for tomorrow.

Gathering at Ruby Hall Metro Station, they took the train to Civil Court. The 8 to 9-year-old students displayed colorful placards and chanted heartfelt slogans such as “Birds and animals are our brothers and sisters,” “Save animals, Save Earth,” and “Shoot with a camera, not with guns.”

World Animal Day marks the anniversary of St. Francis. The student rally also remembered Pune’s saint, Sadhu Vaswani, who advocated animal rights.

With unwavering enthusiasm, the children, accompanied by dedicated teachers, engaged the commuters, inviting them to pledge to go meatless for at least one day on November 25, the birthday of Sadhu Vaswani.

One student expressed the motivation behind their efforts: “We should stop killing animals for our meals and taking their skin for our dresses. We should rather take care of them, feed them, and love them. I want everyone to do the same.”

The school principal, Ruby Karna, noted the strategic decision to engage with the public in a place where people often have a moment to pause and listen while waiting for their trains and stops. “This not only helps in spreading awareness but also instills in the children the values of kindness and compassion toward all living beings. When they take the extra effort to convince others, they will themselves remember it for a longer time.” the principal added.

GURUGRAM: Air India, India’s leading global airline, has collaborated with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi International Airport (DIAL) to facilitate check-in for international travelers at two metro stations in Delhi – New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium. The Delhi Airport Check-in & Baggage Drop facility allows passengers to check in their baggage at the metro station, giving outstation travelers the option to explore the city baggage-free. Meanwhile, their baggage gets securely loaded onto the aircraft through an advanced automated infrastructure created by DMRC & DIAL.

Currently available for domestic journeys, this service will now be extended to international travelers and will remain operational at the two metro stations from 0700 hrs to 2100 hrs. The check-in can be done between 12 hours and 2 hours before flight departure for domestic itineraries and between 4 hours to 2 hours for international schedules.

“Our partnership with DMRC & DIAL stands testament to our commitment to offering passengers an enhanced and seamless travel experience. This initiative not only provides a cost-effective option for travelers coming from distant locations but also helps control congestion at the airport, leading to a better experience for all our customers. PUNE: Coming ahead as the most preferred yet affordable and the fastest-growing real-estate destination in India, Pune remains the highest selling in primary housing sales among the top 7 metro cities in the country, as per the latest Pune Housing Report released by CREDAI Pune Metro. The report was presented at the recently held Members Assistance Meeting at Ramkumar Rathi Auditorium at the CREDAI Pune Metro office at Nucleus Mall in Camp.  The meeting threw light upon Pune’s rapid growth in the real estate market in India for CY 2023.

The report was presented by Abhishek Kiran Gupta – CEO, of CRE Matrix and Rahul Ajmera – Data Analyst, released by Ashwin Trimal – Secretary, Kapil Gandhi – Convener PR, and Dr. D K Abhyankar- Director General. Punit Oswal, Abhishek Bhatewara and Kapil Trimal were the managing committee members present amongst an audience of more than 100 developer members of the CREDAI Pune Metro.

Key findings of the Pune Housing Report are –

1. Compared to the other metros in India, Pune has sold the highest number of primary/ under construction housing units, i.e. 89,347 units having a value of 57,412 crore in the CY 2023. Therefore, the Pune housing market has doubled in 5 years from 29,000 crores in 2019 to 57,412 crores in 2023.
2. The Housing Sales (in value terms) of units priced above 1Cr have multiplied 4 times in the last 5 years.
3. More than 45% of homebuyers are between the age group of 25 to 35 years, indicating that first-time new home buyers especially youngsters prefer Pune as their home.
4. The average value of a flat sold in Pune for CY 2023 was Rs 64 lakhs.
5. Despite the growth in average values, Pune remains the most affordable metro city.
6. Pune and PCMC together contribute to 20% of the total sales happening in top cities in India.
7. Pune and PCMC sold about 89,347 units in CY 2023, whereas the sales for other cities have been as follows – Thane + KDMC + Palghar – 85,000 units, Bangalore – 63,980 units, Delhi + NCR – 65,625 units, Hyderabad – 61,715 units, Mumbai City – 44,005 units and Chennai – 21,630 units.
8. PCMC & Northwest Pune contribute to 60% of the market (in value terms) where maximum growth is between 70 Lakhs to 1Cr, showing that the value of apartments has multiplied by 5 times in 5 years. The 1Cr+ value apartments have multiplied by 5 times too.
