“Mobility is moving from software-defined to AI-defined, and we are making deliberate investments to stay ahead by reimagining the software lifecycle, improving quality and speed, and bringing AI-infused solutions to our clients. Mobilizing Change is our strategic direction for the next phase – shift from effort-led services to outcome-led solutions to increase the value we deliver and the value we capture. As OEMs push for faster time-to-market, reliability, and cost efficiency, KPIT is positioned to fortify its leadership and enable steady high-quality growth in the medium term.”

The market is shifting tectonically – new entrants, regulations, and AI-led disruption are rewriting the rules.
India proposed an Annual India–Australia Skills Meet to Drive Harmonised Standards

NEW DELHI: As part of the 3rd Australia–India Education and Skills Council (AIESC) Meeting in New Delhi, India and Australia convened a substantive bilateral dialogue to advance cooperation in skills development, workforce mobility, and the rapidly growing sports economy. The bilateral meeting was co-chaired by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship & Minister of State for Education, and Hon. Andrew Giles MP, Minister for Skills & Training, Commonwealth of Australia.

The deliberations acknowledged the strong upward trajectory in India–Australia relations and reinforced the need to translate this momentum into well-structured pathways for the movement of skilled professionals. Both sides agreed to accelerate the operationalisation of the Mutual Recognition of Qualifications (MRQ) mechanism and to co-design bridge courses that align competencies and facilitate seamless mobility. Particular emphasis was laid on preparing skilled workers for global standards in advanced construction, given Australia’s infrastructure expansion ahead of major sporting events.

A key element of the discussions revolved around the strategic opportunities emerging from India’s bid for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and Australia’s hosting of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics. The sports and physical wellness sector was collectively recognised as a sunrise industry with significant employment prospects and potential to contribute nearly 2% to India’s GDP. Australia’s global leadership in sports management, sports technology was identified as a complementary strength to India’s expanding sports manufacturing and gig-economy landscape.

Further collaboration was proposed between India’s skilling institutions — including ITIs and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) — and Australia’s TAFE network, with joint work expected in areas spanning mining, digital and IT skills, hospitality, green jobs, renewable energy, and logistics.

Shri Jayant Chaudhary also underlined India’s commitment to future-oriented skills under the Skilling for AI Readiness (SOAR) initiative, along with the importance of joint ethical frameworks and standards for digital adoption. The ministers agreed that responsible and high-quality workforce mobility must guide bilateral cooperation going forward.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Jayant Chaudhary stated, “India and Australia are natural partners in shaping the global workforce of the future. By strengthening pathways, aligning standards, and leveraging each other’s sectoral strengths, we can enable youth to access global opportunities while supporting dynamic industry needs in both our economies. I also propose that we establish an annual India-Australia Skills Meet, held alternately in India and Australia. This platform can drive harmonisation and equivalence in selected skills, deepen institutional partnerships, and keep our training ecosystems aligned with industry needs in both countries.”

“Australia is one of India’s most important partners in this space. We also explored new avenues in sports-related skilling ahead of major global events, including joint training, curriculum development, and industry partnerships,” he further added.

Hon. Andrew Giles MP remarked that Australia deeply values its partnership with India, and as our nations prepare for major sporting and economic milestones, skills cooperation will play a vital role in ensuring shared prosperity and measurable impact for our people.

The meeting witnessed participation from senior officials of MSDE, the Directorate General of Training, NCVET, NSDC, and representatives from the Australian Department of Education and its Skills and Training agencies.

The bilateral session concluded with a shared resolve to maintain high-level engagement and fast-track collaborative models that enhance training quality, strengthen global mobility, and contribute to building future-ready skill ecosystems in both countries.

MUMBAI: Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML) fortifies its position as India’s leading commercial EV manufacturer with over 300000 electric vehicles sold to date. MLMML is the first OEM in India to achieve this milestone, setting new benchmarks in sustainable transportation and innovation within the commercial EV space. These EVs have cumulatively covered more than 5 billion kilometres, saving the release of over 185 kilo metric tonne of CO₂, equivalent to the environmental impact of planting 4.3 million+ trees.

Through its early focus on EVs and concerted efforts to electrify the last-mile mobility, MLMML has been continuously working with multiple partners to develop the ecosystem, thereby increasing customer adoption.

The company’s growth momentum continues to accelerate, with the last 1 Lakh EVs sold in just 12 months, underscoring the trust and preference that customers have for Mahindra’s electric vehicles. Through continuous innovation and incorporating customer feedback, MLMML launched new as well as upgraded products in the last couple of years. These include the Treo Plus sheet metal, e-Alfa Plus, Zor Grand Range Plus, and Mahindra ZEO.

For the 3 Lakh EVs landmark, MLMML has introduced the refreshed NEMO platform on iOS, Android, and Web. The NEMO platform enables drivers and fleet managers to remotely manage and monitor their vehicles. Key new features include multi-vehicle management within a single app, geo-tracking, service booking, roadside assistance (RSA), extensive charging network locations, and more. These initiatives underscore Mahindra’s mission to foster inclusive mobility and deliver unparalleled value beyond the vehicle.

Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, said, “Achieving the 3 Lakh EV milestone marks a proud moment in our journey towards sustainable mobility. It’s a reflection of the trust and confidence customers place in our EVs.
PUNE: In a notable stride for India’s electric two-wheeler market, Eveium Smart Mobility and SunEdge jointly commemorated the delivery of 150 EV scooters in Pune during a launch event held at The Orchid Hotel, Balewadi.

Wider EV Two-Wheeler Market Context

Current Market Snapshot

The electric two-wheeler (e2W) segment, including scooters and mopeds, claimed 58% of India’s EV sales in FY2025 with ~1.14 million units sold—demonstrating robust traction in urban markets. Autocar Pro

The volume growth remains strong but shows signs of maturity, registering around 21% YoY growth in FY2025—compared to the previous year’s 42%.Autocar ProETAuto.com

EV scooters alone now account for 18–20% of total scooter sales and over 6% penetration in all two-wheeler sales, up significantly from prior years. Motoshare

Market Leaders & Competitive Dynamics

Ola Electric, once the undisputed leader, has slipped to third place, with legacy automakers TVS and Bajaj Auto gaining ground—with TVS at ~21% and Bajaj jumping to a staggering 116% YoY growth. The Economic Times+1Autocar Pro

Despite challenges, Ather Energy remains a strong player—posting significant demand for its Rizta line, narrowing losses, and expanding retail footprint. Reuters

Subsidy Trends & Infrastructure Gaps

The EV ecosystem faces headwinds as central subsidies under FAME-II have been halved, dampening affordability even while aiming to shift toward a self-sustaining EV market. Adrenaline Culture of Speed

Geographic disparities persist: Karnataka experienced its first decline in e2W registration, attributed to limited fast-charging infrastructure and home-charging inconveniences. The Times of India

Strategic Implications for Eveium–SunEdge

The 10,000-scooter target positions the alliance as a challenger brand—aggressive in scaling and market presence.

Pune’s inclusion ties in with Maharashtra being a key EV demand and manufacturing hub, aligning with larger GPS mobility trends.Future Mobility Media

To sustain momentum, success hinges on pricing competitiveness, strong after-sales, and adaptability in regions facing infrastructural lags.

Emerging competition from brands like Rebel Motors, Revolt, Ampere, BGauss, and Hero Vida will intensify pressure on distribution, network, and product differentiation.

Outlook & Takeaway

While the delivery of 150 scooters marks a symbolic beginning, the real test lies in sustained adoption, tech reliability, pricing agility, and charging infrastructure expansion. With seasoned players facing margins, subsidy cutbacks, and competitive heat, the Eveium–SunEdge alliance might well emerge as a notable disruptor—if execution matches ambition.

As a senior editor in the auto and EV vertical, my lens focuses less on flash and more on strategy: this partnership stands out not just for its vision but for its potential to contribute meaningfully toward India’s EV mobility roadmap.
