The company now has 35 dealerships in Maharashtra, strengthening its presence in its largest market

PUNE: Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles marked Maharashtra Day on the road, in association with its newest dealership in Pune. Riders from the Jawa Yezdi riding community took to the streets of Pune in traditional attire for a celebratory rally, bringing together the city’s deep-rooted motorcycling culture and the colours and character of the state. Opening the city’s ninth dealership, the company takes its Maharashtra footprint to 35 outlets, strengthening its presence in its largest market.

The Maharashtra Day ride was anchored in the community. Over 150 riders from NJYOC (New Jawa Yezdi Owners Club) joined the celebratory city ride that started from the newly opened dealership to Shaniwar Wada. With Pune being one of the brand’s most vibrant centres of rider activity, the rally reflected the cultural pride instinctive to the region. The city’s long-standing love for the Jawa and Yezdi brands is being renewed by a new generation that is discovering these performance classics on its own terms. The city is home to several active Kommunitis (Jawa Yezdi riding clubs), speaking to the depth of engagement on the ground.

Anupam Thareja, Co-founder of Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, said, “Maharashtra has always been central to our journey. It is more than our largest market. The bond between rider and motorcycle runs deep in the state, shaped by culture and community. Pune, in particular, has carried forward the legacy with a new generation of riders who see our motorcycles as an extension of who they are. It is a source of pride to mark Maharashtra Day with our riders here. With the new dealership in the city, we are strengthening our presence in the state even as it continues to inspire us and shape the way we meet rider needs.”

The new dealership, Shakti Automobiles, improves access to sales and aftersales support in a city where riding is as much about identity as it is about mobility. It is a full 3S (sales, service, spares) facility, offering customers a comprehensive ownership experience, from discovery and test rides to long-term service and genuine parts support.

The Maharashtra Day celebrations and the new dealership opening reflect a simple idea the company continues to build on: Motorcycles are only as strong as the communities that ride them. Pune’s communities ride with memory, pride, and a sense of belonging that cannot be manufactured.

The dealership is backed by the company’s Customer Assurance Programme, designed to support long-term ownership with reliability and peace of mind, including:

4-year/50,000-km standard warranty

Extended warranty options up to 6 years

One year of roadside assistance

Support across 400+ sales and service touchpoints nationwide

Details of the dealership:
Name: Shakti Automobiles
Address: Showroom No 3, Navale Icon, Navale Bridge Road, Sinhagad Road, nearby HP Petrol Pump, Narhe, Pune, Maharashtra-41104

TOKYO, JAPAN: Honda has achieved a significant milestone with its cumulative global production of engine and motor powered motorcycles reaching 500 million units. This accomplishment comes 76 years after the company initiated mass production of motorcycles in 1949, starting with the Dream D-Type.

Since its foundation in 1948, Honda has developed and offered products and services that meet the needs of customers in many countries and regions, based on its belief that “the purpose of technology is to make people’s lives easier.”

Honda began mass production of motorcycles at its first overseas production facility in Belgium in 1963, and since then, has expanded its production globally by its fundamental principle of “producing locally where there is demand.” As a result, Honda achieved its 100 million-unit milestone in 1997, its 200 million-unit milestone in 2008, and its 300 million-unit milestone in 2014. In 2018, Honda’s annual production exceeded 20 million units for the first time in its history, and cumulative global production reached 400 million units in 2019. Although the annual production of motorcycles temporarily declined due to COVID-19 in 2020, demand has steadily recovered worldwide to pre-pandemic levels since then. In addition to internal combustion engine (ICE) models, Honda positioned 2024 as its “first year of global expansion” for electric-powered two-wheelers and has started launching new models, creating a wide and diverse product lineup.

Honda now offers a broad variety of models from commuters for everyday use to larger displacement models for weekend leisure as well as electric vehicles, with an annual production capacity of more than 20 million units in 23 countries and regions and 37 production entities. The company deliver products and services to customers worldwide through a network of more than 30,000 Honda dealers.

Honda will continue its efforts to further solidify its motorcycle business, by providing attractive products and services from diversified approach, realizing the “joy and freedom of mobility” for a wider range of customers, building a highly efficient business structure, and achieving carbon neutrality, including through electrification.

Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President and Representative Executive Officer, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., said, “For Honda, the motorcycle business is our founder’s business, and will continue to be the company’s core business. In the motorcycle business, we have built the trust of our customers through our many products and services, which have enabled us to achieve a cumulative production volume of 500 million units. I would like to thank our customers and all stakeholders who were involved in achieving this milestone, from development to production, sales, and service. Honda will continue to take on the challenge of expanding the joy of our customers around the world.”
