MUMBAI: A new eco-tourism destination has taken shape near Dudhwa National Park. The tourism infrastructure is being developed and maintained at Chandan Chowki in Lakhimpur Kheri district through a partnership between BVG India and the Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board (UPETDB).

As part of this initiative, BVG India is developing the ‘BVG India Resort’, scheduled to be fully operational by March 2026. Spread across five acres, the eco-friendly resort anchors the Chandan Chowki eco-tourism project and is envisioned as a nature-led retreat centred on wellness and local culture.

Developed with an emphasis on low-impact and environmentally sensitive design, ‘BVG India Resort’ blends into its forest surroundings while offering modern hospitality amenities. The resort features multiple accommodation options, supported by recreational facilities, food and beverage services, and spaces for small conferences and social gatherings, catering to leisure travellers, wildlife enthusiasts, families, and corporate groups.

Under the partnership, BVG India is responsible for planning, designing, developing, financing, and operating the accommodation and wellness centre, i.e., BVG India Resort. This includes operation and maintenance of accommodation, facilities, and allied services, procuring all necessary approvals and permissions to ensure compliance, and marketing and promotional activity planning. The focus of the project is to promote a fresh experience to tourists at a location that would offer a wholesome package comprising wellness and wildlife.

Commenting on the development, Hanmantrao Gaikwad, Chairman, BVG India, said, “BVG India Resort is an expression of our belief that tourism must respect nature and create opportunities for local communities. Through this project near Dudhwa, we have sought to create a destination that allows visitors to experience the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness, while preserving what makes it unique. This is a long-term commitment to responsible and sustainable tourism in Uttar Pradesh.”

Community engagement is also one of the key elements of the development. The destination includes a dedicated space for Tharu tribal handicrafts, enabling local artisans—particularly women—to showcase traditional skills and benefit directly from tourism activity. Organic horticulture areas within the resort further enhance the visitor experience by offering insight into rural life and sustainable practices.

Dudhwa National Park, located in Uttar Pradesh’s Terai region along the Indo-Nepal border, is internationally recognised for its biodiversity. It is one of the few protected areas in India where Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinoceroses coexist in the wild, along with endangered swamp deer and a wide variety of bird species. The park is part of Project Tiger, making the region a significant destination for wildlife conservation and eco-tourism.

With the development of ‘BVG India Resort’ at Chandan Chowki, Uttar Pradesh continues to strengthen its eco-tourism offerings, demonstrating how conservation, community participation, and quality tourism infrastructure can come together in sensitive natural landscapes.

Roads constructed with lignin bio-bitumen blended at up to 15%, can achieve a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to conventional fossil-based bitumen

PUNE: Praj Industries, India’s leading industrial biotech company has announced the inauguration of the country’s first sustainable road made using lignin-based biobitumen. Inaugurated by the Hon. Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, this road is at the Nagpur-Mansar Bypass project, NH 44. This eco-friendly technology can partially replace fossil-derived bitumen and is being used to create the country’s first national highway.

Praj’s proprietary technology refines crude lignin into Lignin Bio-Bitumen and has the potential to replace fossil-based bitumen and offer sustainable solutions to the road infrastructure industry. This green construction material, with a blending capacity of up to 15%, offers significant benefits, including a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to fossil-based bitumen. India would require ~15 lakh tons of bio-bitumen to achieve 15% blending with conventional bitumen. Through this investment, India can save ₹4000-4,500 crore on foreign exchange, marking a transformative step toward sustainable and eco-friendly road infrastructure.

Commenting on this development, Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Hon. Minister of Road Transport and Highways, congratulated Praj on the successful development of this technology saying, “The biobitumen used in this project, developed by Praj Industries in collaboration with CSIR-CRRI, is a significant step toward sustainability. It reduces our dependency on imported bitumen and provides an innovative solution by turning agricultural waste into a valuable resource.” He also expressed that in the future, our farmers will not only be food providers but also energy providers, producing biohydrogen and contributing to a cleaner and greener India.

In a collaborative project with CSIR- Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), Praj tested the lignin-based bio-bitumen sample for application studies, successfully replacing up to 15% of bitumen. Praj laid a service road in Halol, Gujarat using Lignin Bio Bitumen as one of the components. After 2.5 years and 3 monsoon seasons, CSIR-CRRI conducted the performance evaluation, and the results were found satisfactory with no signs of distress on the road. This success was one of the key factors in building the Nagpur-Mansar project.

Talking about this milestone, Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder Chairman, Praj Industries said, “The inauguration of India’s first sustainable road using a lignin-based bio-bitumen is a proud moment for Praj Industries and a testament to India’s commitment towards a greener and self-reliant future. This innovative lignin-based bio-bitumen, developed under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, not only replaces fossil-based bitumen but also helps save significant foreign exchange, strengthening our nation’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. We deeply thank the Hon. Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support in fostering sustainable infrastructure development. As we look toward the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, we are also advancing our efforts in bio-hydrogen development, which holds immense potential to transform India’s energy landscape and contribute to a sustainable future. At Praj, we remain dedicated to pioneering eco-friendly solutions contributing to nation-building and global climate goals.”

Bitumen, a black viscous mixture of hydrocarbons produced by fractionation of crude oil, serves as a crucial binder in road construction. However, the rapid consumption and future demand of this product require a sustainable solution to attain the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. According to oil ministry data, India’s bitumen consumption in 2023-24 was 88 lakh tons and is expected to rise to 100 lakh tons in 2024-25. 50% of this bitumen is imported, incurring an annual import cost of ₹25,000-30,000 crore for the country.

PUNE: Industry on a national and global level is witnessing tempestuous changes and it is imperative for Human Resource Development professionals to tailor approaches and policies that are conducive to these changes, speakers at “Anubhuti” the eighth national summit of National HRD Network opined today.

Pune chapter of National HRD Network was the host of the annual event for the fourth consecutive time. More than 250 HR professionals and academicians from human resource development as well as professionals in learning and development services participated in the Summit.

National President of the organization Prem Singh said, “National HRD Network associates with academicians from human resource development as well as professionals in learning and development services but it is largely the responsibility of HR professionals to identify the skills specific to their business organizations and ensure that the employees develop these skills. It is therefore necessary that HR professionals get to know the intricacies of the core business of the organisations they work for and good progress is being witnessed on this front.“

“Anubhuti Summit is an effort to create for HR professionals the experiences relevant to the present day situations. There is no need to be unduly worried about the perceived threat from artificial intelligence (AI)and machine learning (ML). The nature of many jobs may change due to AI and ML but they hold the promise of creating new jobs in greater numbers. The challenge is to arm the workforce with skills to take up the new jobs.“

Usha Singh, Regional President (West) of NHRDN, said the challenges before HR professionals are becoming worse and varied. “For example, in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic, there is an increasing preference among the workforce as well as from management for work from home. The impact of this shift is being studied in detail and it is being examined how it will improve the productivity and efficiency of employees.“

She added,” Work practices in manufacturing as well as service sector are changing fast and HR professionals are expected to facilitate orientation of the workforce to meet these requirements through appropriate education and training.”

Aman Rajabali, President of NHRDN Pune, said managing diversity among workers has emerged as a challenge for HR professionals. “The diversity is not just in terms of gender, but it has become necessary to manage language and region diversity as well,” he said, adding that it will be important to sense the aspirations of the young workforce and devise human resource policies and procedures accordingly.

MUMBAI: Scaler School of Technology, a four-year residential undergraduate computer science program, has announced that it will bestow 100% scholarships (worth a whopping INR 15 crores) to the top 100 rated high school students at the annual Indian National Mathematics Olympiad along with those part of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the last five years allowing them to pursue Scaler’s Undergraduate Programme in Software Development.

Earlier this week, the Indian team achieved its best-ever performance at the International Maths Olympiad (IMO) 2024, coming in fourth globally. The team secured four Gold medals, one silver medal, and one honorable mention. Students across the country participate in several rounds – area, regional, and national competitions – before they qualify for the domestic training camp and eventually participate in the prestigious global event. Despite the prestige that accompanies this and other international olympiads, hardly a few thousand students aspire to be part of the initiative because a vast majority of students (and their families) want to focus on preparing for competitive entrance exams and other qualifiers for undergraduate degrees.

Scaler wants to encourage students to pursue excellence in the field of STEM and will offer them a 100% scholarship to the top 100 students who participate in the Indian National Mathematics and Informatics Olympiad and are interested in pursuing software engineering and computer science. Scaler School of Technology follows a detailed admissions process that includes written tests and interviews, the new-age education institute will waive the entire process for these students allowing them access to top-quality learning experiences at SST.

“India achieved 4th rank in IMO this year, despite only a few thousand students actively preparing for it across the country. There needs to be a serious incentive mechanism in place to motivate more of our bright students to prepare seriously for these globally reputed contests. We are doing our bit by empowering the top 100 students in India to not only get direct admission at Scaler School of Technology but also give them a 100 percent scholarship. I hope this scholarship fund gives young students another reason to prepare for more competitive platforms. I sincerely hope India climbs the ladder on these globally prestigious contests, and we see a rank one in the next few years.” – Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-Founder, Scaler.

Located in the heart of India’s Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, Scaler School of Technology is a fully residential and full-time bachelor’s program that offers specializations in new-age, in-demand technologies like Data Science, Machine Learning, Algorithmic Trading, and competitive programming. Learners will also participate in a one-year paid industry internship with leading tech companies and get access to one-on-one guidance from industry leaders in the form of mentorship. Scaler works with thousands of industry partners, including the top names in every tech sector like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Zomato, Airtel, Wells Fargo, PayPal, and others, for recruitment and other needs. SST learners can engage with these organizations for industry projects through the on-campus innovation lab, encouraging practical learning.

Students at Scaler’s Undergraduate Programme in Software Development will be eligible to enroll in a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science recognized by the UGC through a reputed institute. This degree will also enable students to apply for government jobs or Indian and overseas higher studies if they wish to. Additionally, they will also receive a Master of Science in Computer Science from Woolf University, which is licensed as a higher education institution in the European Union that works on ECTS – European Credit Transfer System. The master’s degree awarded by Woolf is globally recognized, with recognition from ECS and CES.

INDIA: LaLiga, the world’s largest football ecosystem, has revealed a new brand identity that reflects its sustained growth and international reach over the past decade. The new brand, written as a single word in capital letters, represents the power of football and the league’s commitment to social responsibility and ending discrimination.

The new brand symbol, represented by the initials LL, reflects the passion and communion between players and fans. The choice of the symbol reflects two key moments often experienced on and off the field, with players celebrating a goal with a knee slide forming an L, and fans forming an L with their arms when celebrating their team’s success.

The new corporate color, Pantone Red 032C, represents the pride, passion, energy, and excitement of football, while the sound identity will feature a more versatile sound that adapts and changes to different environments and moments.

LaLiga’s new brand identity reflects its global reach and commitment to social responsibility, making it easily identifiable and unique. The league’s sustained growth over the past decade has made it the largest football ecosystem in the world, with a presence in 41 countries through 11 offices.

PUNE: Shifting focus from large-size homes to small-size units, using new technologies, adopting new construction methods, and application of innovative construction materials will significantly help in reducing the cost of homes, Union Minister for Highways Nitin Gadkari said on Friday. Cost of land and cost of construction are the two factors that have a bearing on the prices of homes and these two must be reduced to make homes affordable for people, Gadkari said.

Addressing the 40th Annual General Meeting of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers of India (Credai) Pune Metro Gadkari also highlighted the need for decentralization from Smart cities to Smart villages which can be connected with cities with an efficient road network.

Maharashtra Minister for Higher Education and guardian minister for Pune Chandrakant Patil, Credai Pune Metro President Ranjit Naiknavare, Credai National President Boman Irani, Credai Pune Metro Vice President Aditya Javdekar, Credai Pune Metro Convenor, PR Kapil Gandhi and office bearers of Credai Pune Metro were present on the dias at the event.

Gadkari said a minuscule percentage of the country’s people can afford houses with price tags of Rs 1 crore or more and the country’s masses should be at the centre of approach to housing construction. He gave many examples of how the cost of construction for infrastructure projects was reduced by his ministry by applying innovative construction technology and materials. “Same concepts can be extended to housing construction to reduce prices of homes,” he said.

“Demand pressure is making it possible to sell high-priced homes easily, but developers should shed this complacency and look and build homes for common people,” Gadkari added.

Gadkari announced his ministry will start in three months flyover projects for Pune with an investment of Rs 55,000 crore. It is important to think about the idea of New Pune with good road connectivity and reduce pressure on city infrastructure, he added.

Chandrakant Patil noted the recent and proposed developments in Pune’s infrastructure. Metro railway is fast becoming a preferred way of public transport. He said e-buses and electric auto rickshaws are also on the cards to provide last-mile connectivity. He said the project for 24X7 water supply for Pune is nearing completion and so are sewage treatment plants which will make treated water available for agriculture as well as industry.

Naiknavare lauded the effort by the government to streamline and regulate construction businesses and stressed the need to bring various government bodies within the ambit of legislation such as the Real Estate Regulation Act.

Irani highlighted the need for developers to collaborate rather than compete so that the customer benefits. He also stated Credai’s effort at green construction, transparency, and inclusion of women in the real estate business. Mr Irani also pointed out that the issue of duplication of Goods and Services Tax for redevelopment projects also needs to be addressed, he said.

Aditya Javadekar, vice president of Credai Pune Metro proposed a vote of thanks. Kapil Gandhi moderated the program.
