The India Rankings 2024 were unveiled by Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, in the presence of prominent figures such as Secretary of Higher Education, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy; UGC Chairman, Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar; AICTE Chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam; NETF Chairman, Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe; NBA Member Secretary, Dr. Anil Kumar Nassa; Additional Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Shri Sunil Kumar Barnwal; Joint Secretary, Shri Govind Jaiswal, and other distinguished academicians and heads of institutions.

NIRF is a vital recommendation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and the rankings include top institutions that have demonstrated excellence in teaching, innovation, research, graduation outcomes, and more. This year marks the first time a Skill University category was introduced in the NIRF rankings, and Symbiosis Skills and Professional University has achieved the 1^st rank in this newly introduced category.
