PUNE: Univastu India Limited (NSE: UNIVASTU), a leading name in India’s infrastructure and EPC landscape, has announced a major milestone with the awarding of two prestigious sports infrastructure projects in Maharashtra. These contracts, secured through competitive bidding, align with the nation’s broader preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games, proposed to be hosted by India, and mark a significant step forward in building world-class athletic infrastructure in Maharashtra.

The first project involves the construction of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports Complex in Karad, awarded by the Public Works Department (West), Satara. Valued at ₹88.03 crores, the project will be developed for the Karad Municipal Council and is expected to be completed within a 24-month timeline, excluding monsoon interruptions. The second project pertains to the construction of the Divisional Sports Complex at Jalgaon, commissioned by the Divisional Sports Complex Committee. This project carries a contract value of ₹244.31 crores and is slated for completion in 36 months, excluding the monsoon period.

Commenting on the development, Pradeep Khandagale, Chairman & Managing Director of Univastu India Limited, stated, “These state-of-the-art facilities are more than just construction projects; they are an expression of India’s Olympic aspirations. We are proud to contribute to India’s sporting infrastructure, which will not only serve seasoned athletes but also empower local talent and promote grassroots development.”

This announcement comes on the back of strong financial performance by the company. For the financial year ending March 31, 2025, Univastu reported a consolidated revenue of ₹17,117.78 lakhs, marking a substantial rise from ₹12,061.41 lakhs in FY24. Net profit for the same period surged to ₹1,551.26 lakhs, up from ₹1,000.43 lakhs in the previous fiscal year. The company also reported an improvement in earnings per share (EPS), which increased to ₹8.68 in FY25 from ₹6.27 in FY24, reflecting both operational efficiency and robust order execution.

Listed on the NSE, Univastu India Ltd has steadily built a reputation for its execution capabilities, transparent governance, and its diversified portfolio that includes projects across transportation, healthcare, education, and sports infrastructure. With a growing focus on nation-building and development-linked projects, Univastu continues to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s next-generation infrastructure.

Says Ravetkar’s support in the early days of his career was very helpful

PUNE: Swapnil Kusale, who made India proud by winning a bronze medal at his debut Olympics in Paris, extended heartfelt gratitude to Amol Ravetkar by visiting his office on Prabhat Road yesterday on the occasion of National Sports Day.

Thanking Amol Ravetkar, Kusale remarked, “During the early and critical phase of my career Amol Ravetkar provided steadfast support and provided the much-needed financial assistance for my training. An athlete related to shooting sports has to take up a lot of expenses for equipment, ammunition, and for travel to competitions. Ravetkar’s financial support in those days alleviated that burden. Timely assistance like this undoubtedly enhances the performance of an athlete.”

On the occasion of National Sports Day, when asked what message he would give to aspiring athletes, Kusale said, “Athletes should always focus on nutrition and fitness. They should remember that great achievement is possible only with dedication and hard work.”

Amol Ravetkar said, “We are extremely pleased that Swapnil has rewarded our support by winning an Olympic medal for the country. When I first met Swapnil, he was a 19-year-old lad with a humble demeanor and big dreams. These qualities impressed me, and we decided to support him. It is heartening to see that despite his historic achievement at the Olympics, his humility and conduct remain unchanged. As a gesture of continued support, we are contributing ₹5 lakhs towards his future training and endeavors. We hope Swapnil continues to win more medals for the country and bring greater recognition to Maharashtra.”

PUNE: National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) Joint Secretary General Pawan Singh has added another feather to his decorated hat as he is set to become the first-ever Indian jury to be selected for back-to-back Olympic Games in Shooting Sports. After becoming the only Indian to officiate at the Tokyo Olympics’ shooting events, Pawan Singh has been trusted by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) to once again become part of the four RTS (Result, Timing, Score) Jury members to officiate at the Paris Olympic Games. Pawan is the only Indian official to officiate at the Olympic Games in Shooting Sport.

“I am humbled and proud to represent my country in my successive Olympic Games as a Jury official. I would like to thank the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and the ISSF for their support and trust in my work,” Pawan said.

“The Paris Games will be very special for me for more than one reason. It is going to be my second Olympics, and India will be sending their biggest shooting contingent. We will be having 21 shooters competing for 27 medals at Paris, which is second after China,” he said.

“One more big reason for me to be happy is the news of my dear friend Gagan Narang getting selected as Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent,” Pawan added.

Pawan and Gagan are the co-founders of Gun For Glory Shooting Academy (GFG). Two shooters from the Gun For Glory academy, Elavenil Valarivan and Ramita, are also part of the Indian shooting team and will represent the country in Women’s 10m air rifle events.

GFG has won a total of 330 International Medals since its inception.

Recently in the Olympic Selection Trials, six shooters from GFG participated in various categories. Elavenil and Ramita qualified for the Paris Olympics by winning the trials, during these trials both performed excellently. Ramita in the last qualification shot an incredible score of 636.4 and Elavenil in the finals shot 254.3, an unofficial world record.

Being director of the NRAI education program, Pawan has also conducted many courses for judges and juries.

Here are the details:

IOC President Thomas Bach and Ambassador of India, Jawed Ashraf Present at the Event That Celebrates the Olympic Movement and India’s Journey At The Games

PARIS, FRANCE: The JSW Group marked Olympic Day with the inauguration of an exhibition that celebrates the life and legacy of Pierre de Coubertin, the Founder of the Olympic Movement, along with commemorating 100 years of India’s presence at the Games, in the host city of Paris, on Sunday.

Chairperson of the JSW Foundation, Mrs. Sangita Jindal, and Inspire Institute of Sport Founder, Parth Jindal were joined by President of the IOC, Mr. Thomas Bach, Minister of Culture, Madame Rachida Dati, Ambassador of India to the Republic of France, His Excellency Jawed Ashraf and the President of the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association, Mrs. Alexandra de Navacelle to open the exhibition that will be hosted at the Town Hall of the 7th Arrondissement, Paris, and will go on till the end of the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in September.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangita Jindal, Chairperson of the JSW Foundation said, “JSW Group is pleased to support the curation of ‘100 Years of India at Olympics’ at the Genius of Sport exhibition in Paris. Through this unique Exhibition, we celebrate the life and legacy of Pierre De Coubertin and 100 years of India’s remarkable Olympic journey and success. We share Pierre De Coubertin’s vision and belief that Sports can change the world differently by transcending borders and bringing people together in the spirit of peace and friendship. The 2024 Olympics is an important milestone for JSW Group. We are proud to support this exhibition as well as Team India in Paris. Through these efforts, we reiterate our commitment to foster and nurture the sporting culture and talent in India.”

The exhibition, in association with the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association, comprises a detailed walkthrough of India’s Olympic journey over the last century, the success the country has enjoyed in the past, and its recent resurgence with an eye on the future.

Parth Jindal, Founder of the Inspire Institute of Sport said, “We are honored to partner with the Pierre de Coubertin family for what we believe is a special showcase of the Olympic movement and the part India has played in it. We are on the cusp of the greatest sporting event in the world, and it was our desire at JSW to do something more in the city of Paris. As a country, we want to take forward the ideals of Pierre de Coubertin. We want the world to be a peaceful place, and the role that sport could play in that regard is enormous.

It is our mission at JSW Sports to further the Olympic movement, not just in India, but in the world. The Inspire Institute of Sport will be represented by close to 30 athletes as part of Team India at the Games next month, and our effort is to keep increasing that number with every passing Olympic cycle. India’s rise as an economic power is evident. But it is through sport that a country’s soft power is truly showcased, and we will play our part in making this happen.“

Thomas Bach, President of the IOC said, “Thanks to this magnificent exhibition, the public will be able to discover and rediscover an astonishing and multi-faceted man and measure the extent of his work. France and the French people should be proud to have a compatriot like Pierre de Coubertin. A visionary whose message of a world united in peaceful competition through sport resonates even more strongly today.”

His Excellency Jawed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to the Republic of France, thanked the JSW Group for putting together the exhibition that will be on until September 10 and will be open to the public.
