The conclave included knowledge sessions and panel discussions on several topics like New Age Skills and Programs, the Industry First Approach, AI disruption, and Towards Industry 5.0, etc.

Industry Experts gave an overview of the High Growth Segments to the participants. Faculties, Industry Partners, and alumni joined the deliberations to share their views and experiences. The Conclave touched upon various aspects and challenges like employability, skill-based education, bridging the skills gap, alignment with job roles, hands-on training, and the need for skill-based education.  

The program was a part of a three-day visit to two of Symbiosis Skills University campuses including Symbiosis Skills and Professional University, Pune, and Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences, Indore. High School Principal participated from across the country spread over Delhi, Kolkatta, Jaipur, Gorakhpur, Patna, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad etc.  

The conclave concluded with a workshop discussing the way forward, integrating high school education with the New Education Policy that emphasizes skill-based education.

PUNE: The 17th foundation day of Symbiosis Open Education Society(SOES) and 8th Anniversary of  Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) were celebrated with a special program at SSPU’s Kiwale Campus. Chief Guest Mr. Rahul Mahival (I.A.S) Metropolitan Commissioner and CEO of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Dr. S.B Mujumdar, Founder  President Symbiosis, and Dr. Swati Mujumdar Principal Director Symbiosis Open Education Society were present on the occasion. On this occasion, staff members who have excelled in their work were felicitated with various awards across different categories. 

Dr. S.B Mujumdar Founder and President Symbiosis said that the National Education Policy if followed in word and spirit will change the scenario in higher education. The focus of NEP is on a multidisciplinary campus, a mix of Indian knowledge and modern education but more importantly it has emphasized skills. Once we understand the importance of skills, skill-based universities will be the future universities of the country and every youth coming out of the universities will be employable. 

He added that apart from skills another aspect of importance is girl empowerment, especially in rural areas. There is a realization in the industry that appropriate manpower is not possible without women’s empowerment and support for girls from rural areas. The twin focus of skill-based education and focus on women empowerment should be encouraged. 

Rahul Mahiwal, Metropolitan Commissioner and CEO of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) said that we should be able to channel the positive energy of our youth for their self-development and Nation-building. For this to happen we should be able to create opportunities for our youth through skill education. A teamwork of government, industry, and skill universities will help create special strength in skills. He said that  It is a matter of pride that Symbiosis Skills and Professional University has taken the initiative for skill-based education.

Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Principal Director SOES said that Symbiosis Skills and Professional University is the first skill University in Maharashtra. Our mission is to provide all skills that are relevant to the industry so that the students become industry-ready or self-employed. We must create a large skilled workforce for the local industry to grow and contribute to the Nation’s development. The MSc Data Science from VIT is designed for early-to-mid-career working professionals in data science, analytics, or the IT industry who have bachelor’s degrees in mathematics, computer science, physics, statistics, engineering, or technology. This program is also suitable for new graduates with bachelor’s degrees or entry-level professionals in non-data-science roles. The four-semester program includes application-based learning with tools, as well as modules on topics such as AI and ML, Python programming, forecasting and predictive analytics, statistical inference, data structures and algorithms, data mining, and big data analytics. This two-year degree program has a fee of INR 1,50,000 and starts on 14 August 2024.

According to a McKinsey Global Institute report, digital technologies have the potential to create 65 million new jobs in India by 2025. Aiming to help the growth of the sector, the MCA from VIT is designed for software engineers, developers, and consultants; web designers and developers; app developers; full stack engineers; front-end developers; software architects; and other professionals in digital technology roles. The comprehensive curriculum includes a choice of electives to help learn about trending technologies, such as AI, ML, blockchain, cybersecurity, AR/VR, and big data. The program also provides hands-on experience with tools and programming languages. This two-year degree program has a fee of INR 1,40,000 and starts on 14 August 2024.

On successful completion of the programs, students will be awarded the degrees of completion by VIT. Participants will also receive the prestigious VIT alumni status and access to exclusive VIT alumni events and networking opportunities.
