PUNE: The recent incident at Bhavani Peth involving people linked to two neighbouring trust properties has raised several questions that are still not fully answered. The incident took place between persons linked to Haji Ghulam Muhammad Azam Trust, HGMAT, and Golden Jubilee Education Trust, GJET, associated with Shahid Inamdar, who later did a Facebook Live video and passed away the same day. What first appeared to be a dispute over trespassing into GJET Trust, it has now come to light that some Trustees and members of HGMAE Trust were not allowed entry into their own trust Building. This now needs a closer look by the police on when the incident happened, whose material was allegedly moved and from where, and how the latter medical timeline came to be publicly connected to the incident.

Trustees linked to HGMAT say records show that the land and building at CTS No. 646 belong to their trust. According to them, the HGMAT trustee and members had gone there on a Sunday morning when they got to know that their security guards were being removed from their own building. They say they were denied entry by persons linked to Golden Jubilee Education Trust, GJET, whose property is located next to it.

The FIR, however, records the place of occurrence as Golden Jubilee Education, 647, Bhavani Peth, Kasewadi, Pune, and places the incident at about 8 am on May 3, 2026. There is also a further location question because public references and parts of the complaint narrative point to the premises and open area, which is also in the HGMAE Trust. That difference matters. Was the dispute over access to CTS No. 646, which the HGMAT side says belongs to them? Or did it happen on access and entry into Golden Jubilee Education Trust, GJET, at CTS No. 647?

The second question is about time. According to the FIR, the incident happened on May 3 at about 8 am. However, Mr. Shahid Inamdar of GJET himself did a Facebook Live video at around 11.30 am the same morning, in which he described the incident as something that had happened at night. If one version places the incident in the night and the FIR places it early the next morning, investigators will have to establish which timeline is correct.

The third question is about the material. The FIR says items linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Institute, including partition material, laptops, computers, benches, furniture, and other articles, had been kept or moved in the compound area, and that some articles were taken away. The concerns about some material being removed from the premises. If some material was removed, when and where did that go? The FIR says police help was called by dialing 112, and that police came to the spot. It also says that after the police arrived, some people left.

Then comes the most sensitive part: the medical timeline. Newspaper reports and public discussion have linked the later death of Mr. Shahid Inamdar to the stress of the incident. But in emotionally charged family and institutional disputes, especially after a death, responsible reporting requires every claim to be tested against records, timelines, and medical evidence.

None of this reduces the grief of the death. When contacted, a trust member associated with HGMAT said they were saddened by the loss of Mr. Shahid Inamdar of GJET. They said they have chosen not to go to the media with allegations. According to the trust member, this decision was taken because GJET, though on the other side of the dispute, was a senior member in HGMAE Trust. “If they feel aggrieved, we understand their grief,” the HGMAT trust member said. “The matter is now with the police and the courts. We will clear the Trust name through the legal process.

For now, the Bhavani Peth case remains marked by unanswered questions. Was it CTS No. 646 or 647? Who owned the material? What did the police see when they arrived? And how does the medical timeline actually connect, if at all, to the incident?

Until these questions are answered through property records, tenant documents, police statements, and medical papers, the incident would need to be investigated.

University campus to host No Drugs Volunteer initiative in association with Lashkar Police Station, placing students at the centre of Pune’s fight against substance abuse

PUNE: In a significant step towards building a drug-free future through youth participation and institutional collaboration, Pune Police will organise the No Drugs Volunteer campaign at Dr. P. A. Inamdar University, Azam Campus, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00 am.

The initiative, being held in association with Lashkar Police Station, Awami Mahaz and Padmapani Foundation, is designed to address the growing concern of drug abuse among young people through awareness, prevention and community engagement. More importantly, by hosting the programme at a university campus, the organisers are placing students at the heart of a wider social movement aimed at protecting Pune’s youth from the dangers of addiction.

The programme will be held under the chairmanship of Mrs. Abeda Inamdar, President, Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society, Pune. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar will directly interact with students during the session. Senior officials, including Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioners of Police Rajlakshmi Shivankar and Nikhil Pingale, along with Rahul Dumbale of Padmapani Foundation, will also be present.

The No Drugs Volunteer campaign is intended to build a strong network of young volunteers who can become awareness ambassadors in their communities and educational spaces. The initiative aims to sensitise youth in the 15 to 30 age group about the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse, while encouraging informed dialogue around prevention, rehabilitation, and the role of society in early intervention.

Mrs. Abeda Inamdar, President, Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society, Pune, said, “A university is not only a place of academic learning, but also a space where responsible citizenship is shaped. If we want to secure the future of our society, we must empower young minds with awareness, courage, and clarity. Through this initiative, we want students to understand that saying no to drugs is not just a personal choice, but a social responsibility.”

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said, “The fight against drugs cannot be won by enforcement alone. It requires trust, awareness and active participation from the community, especially the youth. Through the No Drugs Volunteer initiative, our vision is to create a people-supported movement in which students become partners in prevention and ambassadors of a healthier, safer and drug-free Pune.”

With the participation of senior police leadership, educational authorities, and community organisations, the programme is expected to send out a strong message that the battle against drugs must begin with awareness, vigilance, and collective resolve

A renewed focus on raising its delivered experience and solving for customer problems at scale

PUNE: Airtel today marked Customer Day 2026, a mass movement within the organization focused on understanding customer pain points and continuously improving its delivered experiences. Nearly twenty thousand Airtel employees—from leadership teams to functional specialists—stepped out of their offices and into the field, working alongside frontline teams to engage directly with customers, shadowing field engineers, visiting homes and shops, and interacting at retail and service centres to gain an unfiltered view of the issues that matter most. Customer Day at Airtel serves as a deliberate pause for the organisation to introspect and ask a simple but critical question: what more can we do for our customers?

Commenting on the initiative, Shashwat Sharma, Managing Director and CEO, Airtel India, said: “Customer Day is an important reminder of our responsibility to listen deeply, challenge ourselves, and act with urgency. It strengthens our commitment to solving pain points, simplifying experiences, and continuously raising the standard of service we deliver to millions of our customers every day.”

This ritual and the culture of solving for customer pain points have been central to many of Airtel’s customer‑first innovations. From stronger spam and fraud protection to simpler, more intuitive digital journeys through the Airtel app and wider access to new‑age, AI‑enabled tools, Airtel’s solutions have been shaped by listening.

Customer Day also reinforces Airtel’s belief that experience improvement is not episodic, but continuous. By listening closely to customers and acting decisively on their feedback, the company continues to simplify processes, remove friction, and design services that are reliable, intuitive, and responsive. It unites Airtel behind a single, enduring purpose: to be a company where customer obsession is not a slogan, but a culture—one that drives constant improvement and ensures that every decision begins and ends with the customer.

MUMBAI: Prime Offices Fund (PRIME), a commercial real estate–focused fund managed by Nuvama and Cushman & Wakefield Management Private Limited (NCW), has announced the acquisition of TenSteps, a Grade A+ commercial office asset in Kharadi, Pune. This transaction marks PRIME’s entry into its third city and reinforces the Fund’s strategy of building a diversified, institutional-grade office portfolio across India’s key office markets.

TenSteps is a ~1.1 million sq. ft IGBC LEED Platinum pre-certified office development, acquired through a joint venture structure, with PRIME holding a 51% stake and Keppel retaining the balance stake. Following the transaction, PRIME’s portfolio will scale to ~3.8 million sq. ft. across Delhi NCR, Chennai, and Pune.

This acquisition builds on PRIME’s earlier transactions and underscores its consistent execution track record. The Fund’s calibrated expansion into Pune reflects its conviction in markets that offer depth of occupier demand, strong talent ecosystems, and long-term institutional relevance. Pune’s established position as a technology and Global Capability Centre (GCC) hub aligns well with PRIME’s focus on acquiring high-quality assets in key office markets.

Gaurav Puri, Chief Investment Officer, NCW, said, “This transaction reinforces the investment principles we set out with —disciplined capital deployment in prominent growth markets with a clear focus on asset quality. As we deploy the Fund corpus, our priority remains building a portfolio of Grade-A+ assets in key office markets that offer long-term visibility on demand and value creation for our investors. Pune fits squarely within this framework.”

TenSteps is a contemporary, institutional-grade office development, combining sustainability credentials with efficient design in a well-established office corridor. Its Platinum certification and design-led efficiencies support occupiers increasingly focused on operational performance, workplace quality, and long-term relevance, particularly among technology-led and global enterprises.

With this acquisition, PRIME continues to advance its portfolio build-out through a selective, asset-led approach, adding a high-quality office development in India’s key office corridors.

PUNE: The world’s most loved Swedish home furnishings retailer, IKEA, is set to open its doors to the homes and hearts of Punekars with its very first city store at Phoenix Mall, Viman Nagar, on 12 March.

Spread across 32,000 sq. ft., the store makes it convenient for customers to explore and shop for their homes- bringing well-designed, good quality, and affordable home furnishings closer to Pune. Thoughtfully curated for the city, the store highlights over 1,900 products, with 1,700 available for immediate takeaway and an additional 4500 that can be ordered easily. The new store builds on the love of 200,000 IKEA Family members, shaped by a deep understanding of how Punekars live, grow, and make space for what matters.

From young professionals and students setting up their first homes, to growing families and pet parents creating warm, functional spaces, Pune’s homes beautifully balance aspiration with affordability. In a city known for its smart 2–3 BHKs and compact apartments, every square foot matters and every corner carries a story of real, everyday life at home.

It is why many Punekars are choosing smart, multi-functional furniture, calming earthy tones, and eco-friendly designs that bring comfort without compromising on value. These choices reflect how the city lives- practical, thoughtful, value-conscious, and always adapting as life evolves. IKEA’s range is designed with exactly this in mind, offering flexible, space-saving, and sustainable solutions that fit seamlessly into the way Pune truly lives.

Patrik Antoni, CEO, IKEA India, said, “We have learned so much from the way this city lives- practical yet ambitious, rooted yet forward-looking, and increasingly mindful about sustainable living. That inspires us. With this store, we are not just opening doors; we are further strengthening our promise to make everyday life at home better for many more people and to expand IKEA’s presence in Maharashtra. Pune has been at the heart of our India journey for many years. Our main distribution centre here supports our stores across the country, making Pune a vital part of our value chain. Today, opening our first store in this city feels both proud and personal.”

PUNE: The Sadhu Vaswani Mission officially concluded its annual Thanksgiving Week, a tradition of intense humanitarian service and prayer that the Mission has observed since 1998. Held from February 18th to February 24th, this week-long effort serves as a global call to live a life of gratitude through practical action.

Empowering the Vulnerable

Led by Didi Krishna Kumari, the Mission’s outreach programs reached diverse sectors of society, prioritizing dignity and practical support:

Healthcare Support: Distribution of nutrition and hygiene kits at Tarachand, Kamla Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hospitals.

Disability Rights: The “Limbs for the Limbless” initiative successfully distributed 42 prosthetic limbs, restoring mobility for recipients, including infants & children.

Education & Youth: Stationery and exam-essential kits were delivered to ZP School children in Mulshi and students at Mahatma Phule School.

Social Inclusion: Tailored aid and apparel distributions were held for the visually impaired, the transgender community, and residents of the Mahila Ashram Orphanage.

Sustainability Through Skill Development

A unique highlight of this year’s program was the integration of the Dada Vaswani Skill Development Institute. Most of the cloth bags and apparel distributed were handcrafted by students at the Institute, ensuring that the Mission’s charitable efforts also support vocational training and local livelihoods.

A Legacy of Gratitude

Since its inception in 1998, Thanksgiving Week has been the Mission’s primary vehicle for spreading the message of “Gratitude in Action.” The week included daily havans, shukrana satsangs, the launch of the 2026 Hindi inspirational calendar (Apne Jeevan ko Samridh Banaye), and a soul-stirring musical session by the “Soul Strings” band Bhuushan Maloo.

Key Message

For everything, say, ‘Thank you, GOD.’ And when things do not go as planned, affirm that everything that happens is for my good.”

PUNE: IntrCity SmartBus, India’s leading intercity mobility brand, today announced the launch of IntrCity SmartBus.AQI on the Pune–Nagpur and Nagpur–Pune routes, bringing India’s first air-purified bus service to travellers in the region.

The SmartBus.AQI service on the Pune–Nagpur route was formally flagged off in Pune in the esteemed presence of Mr. Shripad Bhagwat, Inspector of Motor Vehicles, RTO Pune, along with senior leadership from IntrCity SmartBus. The flag-off marked a significant milestone in IntrCity’s clean-air travel initiative, underscoring the company’s commitment to enhancing health, safety, and comfort standards in intercity bus travel.

Manish Rathi, Co-founder & CEO, IntrCity SmartBus, said, “Pune is a key intercity travel hub, with strong demand for long-distance routes such as Pune – Nagpur. With SmartBus.AQI, we are addressing an often-ignored aspect of travel – air quality inside the bus. Our goal is to ensure that passengers can travel long distances while breathing cleaner, safer air throughout the journey.”

IntrCity’s internal studies found that in-cabin air pollution on intercity routes can be 2–3× higher than WHO-recommended limits. To address this, the company partnered with Respirer Living Sciences, an award-winning ClimateTech firm, to equip SmartBus.AQI with continuous air purification and monitoring systems. Pilot runs maintained PM2.5 levels at around 40 µg/m³ for over 90% of the journey – significantly cleaner than typical outdoor air in major Indian cities.

Passengers travelling on the Pune–Nagpur corridor can easily identify these buses at the time of booking by the “IntrCity SmartBus.AQI” tag on the IntrCity app or website, which signifies advanced onboard air-quality control systems. During the journey, passengers will also have access to real-time AQI and PM2.5 readings, displayed on board and in the app, ensuring complete transparency.

The Pune–Nagpur launch builds on IntrCity’s earlier rollout of SmartBus.AQI across high-pollution North India routes, with more corridors to be added in subsequent phases. IntrCity has consistently introduced category-first innovations such as onboard washrooms, boarding lounges, digital check-ins, and trained Bus Captains with SmartBus.AQI, the company, extends this innovation to clean-air travel.

IntrCity has also introduced a dedicated SmartBus.AQI microsite (), where travellers can explore the technology, understand how air purification works, and learn more about this clean-air initiative.

PUNE: Starting a new era in skin treatment, city-based Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Foundation and the members of the Chaudhari family have donated the all-new state-of-the-art medical equipment for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of skin diseases to the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and Research Centre recently.

With this new equipment, the Dermatology department at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital (DMH) will now be able to offer advanced treatment for skin conditions such as burns, tattoos, dark spots, acne, melasma, and other skin diseases using new modern treatment techniques.

The laser services for the Dermatology Department and Research Center were commenced in the memory of Madhubhau Chaudhary, and state-of-the-art equipment for skull base neurosurgery was dedicated in the memory of Shakutai Madhukar Chaudhari, the parents of noted industrialist Dr. Pramod Chaudhari and the trustee of Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Foundation.

Dignitaries like Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Parimal Chaudhari, Sunanda Nisal, Dr. Usha Katti, Dr. Pradyumna Vaidya, Dr. Dhanshree Bhide, Dr. Vinay Kulkarni from the Dermatology Department, neurosurgeon Dr. Kaustubh Dindorkar from the Neurology Department, and renowned surgeon Dr. Utkrant Kurlekar were present during the program that was organized at DMH to mark the installation of the above equipment.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Pramod Chaudhari said, “The dermatology department seems somewhat neglected. Dr. Vinay Kulkarni, a specialist in this department, drew my attention to it. There is a need for more focus here, and there is good scope for research. I was attracted by the word ‘research’ because, in my opinion, research is essential everywhere.”

Parimal Chaudhari said, “Deciding about the department for donating the equipment was a tough process. But then we decided to choose the department of dermatology, which is not in the limelight much.”

Sunanda Nisal said, “The Chaudhari family has a tradition of national service and participation in the freedom struggle. The values of supporting institutions and individuals who do excellent work in the fields of nation-building, society, and education have been passed down to the next generation from their mother, a teacher, and their father, a freedom fighter. The medical equipment donated to the hospital is a part of these values.” Dr. Usha Katti also shared her thoughts.”

On behalf of the DMH, Dr. Pradyumna Vaidya, Dr. Vinay Kulkarni, and Dr. Dhanshree Bhide from the Dermatology Department, and neurosurgeon Dr. Kaustubh Dindorkar from the Neurology Department, provided a detailed technical explanation of the medical equipment. Sanika Joshi presented the vote of thanks.
