MUMBAI: Tribeca Developers, India’s largest luxury branded residential developer and the largest global developer of Trump-branded projects, has set a new benchmark with the launch of their latest luxury residential offering, ‘The Edge.’ In just 30 days the project, which is a collaboration between Tribeca Developers and Tejukaya, has achieved sales exceeding INR. 1,000 crores, establishing it as South Mumbai’s fastest-selling residential development in recent years.

Situated on a prime 2.5-acre site in Parel, Tower 1 of ‘The Edge’ features 228 meticulously designed residences. The development includes a range of 2, 3, 4 & 5 Bed homes, with prices from INR. 4 cr to INR. 12 cr.

The project is one of the largest projects in South Mumbai and is being developed under the Maharashtra government’s ambitious Cluster Redevelopment Policy.

In January 2024, Tribeca Developers announced a collaboration with the 135-year-old Tejukaya Group on this project, with INR. 200 cr. financing line secured from HDFC Capital. Subsequently, Piramal Capital provided an additional INR. 120 cr. of credit line. With less than 50% of these financing lines drawn to date, Tribeca doesn’t expect to draw the balance lines.

Mr. Kalpesh Mehta, founder of Tribeca said “Tribeca focuses on building only landmark trophy properties, and our projects have always been extremely well received across India. With The Edge, we pushed the boundaries of luxury well, to the edge, and we are grateful to our customers for rewarding us so robustly on our maiden entry into Mumbai. This is the biggest launch that Tribeca has had in its 12-year journey. The market for luxury residences in India remains strong and buyers across the country are willing to pay huge premiums over competition to acquire homes in trophy projects that are one of a kind, and that is the demand we cater to.”

He added, “Our asset-light approach relies heavily on having extremely strong partners who have strong land expertise, such as Mr. Pranav Tejookaya. This land had been in his family for over 100 years and had 730 families housed in chawls built by his great-grandfather. Pranav bhai’s ability to vacate and get approvals on once in a lifetime site is a big reason for our success.”

Pranav P. Tejookaya, CEO & Managing Director of Tejukaya Group, said “Collaborating with Tribeca on ‘The Edge’ reflects our shared vision for redefining luxury in Mumbai. This location has a deep personal significance for us, and seeing it transformed into an iconic residential address is a proud achievement. With Tribeca’s expertise and our deep-rooted local insight, ‘The Edge’ will set a new standard for luxury living in Mumbai.”

‘The Edge’ boasts an iconic façade with two shimmering glass towers rising 600 feet into the sky and will be among the tallest towers in the micro-market. Design is at the core of the residences with every room featuring Tribeca’s signature openable façade, with full-length sliding windows and glass railings on the outside.

Tribeca is known for developing the largest rooftop in the world in Pune. The rooftop at The Edge will be the most iconic in Mumbai and will be packed with amenities such as the glass-bottom sky bridge. The project has one of the largest amenities programs in the entire micro-market with amenities spread across 4 levels.

SOUTH AFRICA: The Carling Currie Cup will kick off as scheduled, as one of the results of a ground-breaking alignment between employers and players to maximize player welfare, while facilitating a 12-month-long South African season.

The new deal – which is scheduled for final sign-off on Thursday – acknowledges that a compulsory, industry-wide eight-week shutdown is impossible to accommodate in a South African playing calendar that straddles the hemispheres (the international franchises play through the SA summer in the nine-month-long Vodacom Untied Rugby Championship, while the Springbok Test season and domestic competitions are rooted in the SA winter).

The South African Rugby Employers’ Organisation (SAREO) and MyPlayers (the professional rugby players’ organization) have agreed that accepting a 12-month season – while embedding player welfare strategies – was the optimal way to address an internationally unique match-scheduling challenge.

The agreement was brokered following arbitration of a dispute relating to mandatory rest periods for players. The arbitrator ruled that the players’ terms and conditions of employment required all contracted players to rest simultaneously for eight weeks. He also ruled that such rest periods were not contracted to take place within each 12-month cycle.

The new deal instead provides for the following:

Structured, individualized eight-week rest periods for all players with formal notice periods when such breaks are to be taken;

Adoption of World Rugby player load guidelines which are in finalisation;

Maintenance of a strict, individual player load monitoring program;

Broadened scope for the Joint Committee on Contracted Players’ Safety and Welfare and utilization of the Emergency Committee to ensure effective implementation of the new arrangements and;

We adjusted travel arrangements for Vodacom URC/EPCR teams from 1 July 2025.

The original award cast doubt on the possibility of accommodating the Carling Currie Cup in the current season so as not to overlap with the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.

However, the Carling Currie Cup Premier Division will kick off as scheduled in the first weekend of July (in a revamped format agreed by the General Council in December), while the First Division will spring into action this weekend with three matches scheduled for Saturday.

“This has been a very fruitful process, and the outcome is that we have collectively faced up to the realities of our post-COVID calendar and come up with a solution for a problem unlike any other sport that I am aware of,” said Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby.

Rian Oberholzer added, “Every sport, everywhere has an off-season, but we have found a way to balance the equation of maintaining our competition schedule to drive revenues for 12 months of the year while securing player welfare. We might have had to go through an arbitration to help concentrate minds, but the result is good.

The importance of player welfare was never in doubt. The challenge was to find ways to accommodate all needs. I’d like to thank MyPlayers and SAREO for constructively working their way towards this solution.”

Mandisi Tshonti, GM: of Player Affairs of MyPlayers said: “This agreement revolutionizes the South African playing calendar as it makes provision for non-stop professional rugby.

It ensures the commercial engine can keep delivering, by giving broadcasters and sponsors an optimal opportunity to partner with SA Rugby and the competing unions, while player welfare has been enhanced.”

The Premier Division of the Carling Currie Cup kicks off on the weekend of 5/6 July and will reach its climax with the final on 21 September. In an exciting new feature, the competition will be staged over one-and-a-half rounds, followed by two semi-finals and the grand finale.

The eight teams are divided into two pools of four each by last year’s standings. Pool A will consist of the Toyota Cheetahs (No. 1 ranked last year), the Vodacom Bulls (4), DHL Western Province (5), and the NovaVit Griffons (8).

Pool B sees the Hollywoodbets Sharks (ranked No. 2), Airlink Pumas (3), Fidelity ADT Lions (6) and Suzuki Griquas (7) grouped. Teams will play home and away matches within their respective pools plus a single round of games against sides in the opposite pool.

The two ranked teams in each pool will progress to the semi-finals on 14 September, with the two winners set to battle it out for the famous Currie Cup in the 21 September final.

Meanwhile, the remaining six provincial sides – the Sanlam Boland Kavaliers, Valke, Leopards, Phangela SWD Eagles, Eastern Province, and Border – will compete against each other in the Carling Currie Cup First Division, with five rounds of league games scheduled. The opening round is this weekend, with the semi-finals scheduled for 20 July and the final for 27 July.

PUNE: International Cooperation and better economic integration of South East Asian Nations key to mitigating geo-economic Challenges in an era of flux opined various experts at the inaugural session of the 8th Asia Economic Dialogue jointly organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and Pune International Center here in Pune.

The inaugural session on the theme ‘Promoting Economic Integration in South Asia’ was chaired by Amb. Gautam Bambawale, Convenor, AED 2024, former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan and former Ambassador to China and Bhutan. Panelists in this session included Amb. Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Foreign Secretary, Government of India, along with Amb. Sewa Lamsal, Foreign Secretary, Nepal, and Amb. Masud Bin Momen, Foreign Secretary, Bangladesh.

Dr. S.Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister, Government of India in a video address said that this edition of Asia Economic Dialogue focuses very appropriately on the Geoeconomic challenges of our times. Today these fall into three categories. One is the supply chain challenge created by the globalization era, the second is a technology challenge which grows by the day given our reliance on it for more aspects of our daily life and the third is the challenge of concentrations stemming from the nature of globalization. These three phenomena are coming together particularly impact fully when considering the evolution of critical and emerging technologies. To create a safer, secure, and cooperative world, we need greater international cooperation.

He added that we must build deep national strengths during the Amrit Kaal that will drive the transition towards becoming a developed economy. This is the vision of the Modi Government and our initiatives and programs of the last decade are aimed at this very end.

Amb. Vinay Mohan Kwatra Foreign Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India said that conflicts and associated disruptions require strong mitigation by each country. But Geo Economics in many ways also presents a set of opportunities especially for India. When globally the countries are looking for reliable destinations for supply chains, market access, and capital looking for destinations which can offer strong returns on equity, this has benefitted India. Post Covid growth patterns tell a story and it is not just of numbers. Combined them with crucial matrices and perception of India and how it translated into evidence and the strongest evidence comes from FDI flows, a large chunk has post covid. All this comes together in a package that presents a picture of strength, hope and optimism, a picture of evidence-based growth that is not only national but where the international business community sees a lot of hope.

Amb. Seva Lamsel foreign secretary, Nepal said that COVID-19 and conflicts posed difficult times and hampered landlocked economies like Nepal. We had sluggish growth then but now our economy is gaining momentum due to reforms and stringent monetary policy. The energy sector, agriculture, and tourism are in focus. Also, macroeconomic indicators are good and the economy is on the right track.

Amb. Masud Bin Momen, foreign secretary, of Bangladesh, said that intra-regional trade in South Asia is one of the lowest around 5 percent. Improving connectivity not just physical but ancillary services like customs and others and connecting the dots will create a lot of potential for regional cooperation.

Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, President PIC in his opening remarks said that this is the 8th Asia Economic Dialogue. PIC has become India’s leading policy think tank with strong programs.
