<p><strong>PUNE:</strong> Goethe -Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Pune, and the Department of Foreign Languages (German Language) of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)signed a Memorandum of Understanding for teachers’ training, arts, culture and literature. The MoU was signed by Markus Biechele, Director Goethe-Institut Pune, Alicia Padros, Deputy director and head of language department Goethe-Institut Pune, Prof. Dr. Swati Acharya, Head, of the Department of Foreign Languages, Savitribai Phule Pune University and Prof. Jyoti Bhakre, Registrar Savitribai Phule Pune University.</p>



<p>The MoU will include taking forward the collaboration for the teachers training program (DLL -Deutsch Lehren Lernen or ‘learning how to teach German’) conducted by Goethe-Institute and will benefit those studying MA German at SPPU’s foreign languages department and aspiring to become German language teachers.</p>



<p>The MoU also extends to various activities related to arts, culture, and literature. The German section of the SPPU foreign languages department will participate in various activities by Goethe-Institut and will also help reach a wider audience.</p>



<p>Markus Biechele, Director of Goethe-Institut Pune said that Pune has a rich legacy of German language learning and presents a lot of career opportunities for students and in turn boosts Indo-German friendship and collaboration. We are extremely happy to partner with SPPU, this marks a significant moment for us.</p>



<p>Dr. Swati Acharya, Head, of the Department of Foreign Languages, Savitribai Phule Pune University said that the pilot program of DLL was started in 2021 and more than 100 students have benefited so far. This MoU is a logical next step in the long cooperation and very fruitful work that both institutions have been doing together is an extension of ongoing collaboration between the two and paves the path for a sustainable partnership and cooperation. We already have courses in didactics for our MA students. We will officially incorporate many aspects and components of ‘DLL’ in the MA program which is conducted for four semesters.  Apart from this selected number of students will be offered scholarships by Goethe Institute, Pune for select courses.</p>



<p>Alicia Padros, Deputy director and head of language department Goethe-Institut Pune said that there is a growing demand for German teachers in Maharashtra. Also growing number of students who decide to study German want to become teachers. So, this is the right time to consolidate the program and formalize the collaboration. It is here in Pune where German as a foreign language began 110 years ago. It was the first place where German was taught. At Goethe- Institut we always look for partners and collaborate with those who want to learn German as a foreign language. All our activities are based on partnerships and mutuality.</p>



<p>Markus Biechele, Director of Goethe-Institut Pune added “As the globally active cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany, we advocate for understanding between Germany, Europe,<em> and the world.  151 Goethe-Institutes in 98 countries (in India: 6 institutes) together with numerous partner institutions form the basis of our global network. With a wide range of educational and information programs, we support in particular students and skilled workers from abroad on their route to Germany</em>.”</p>

<li>Bharti Airtel Foundation, in partnership with the <em>Government of Assam, trained 82 Resource Persons who cascaded the training to 5,900+ Heads of Schools in more than 1,100 Government Schools in Jorhat, Assam.  </em></li>



<li><em>The program benefitted more than 90,000 students in government schools through the School Excellence Program.</em></li>

<p><strong>JORHAT, ASSAM:</strong> Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, in partnership with the Government of Assam, initiated extensive training under the School Excellence Program to build the capacity of resource persons and Heads of Schools along with teachers.</p>



<p>The initiative has had a significant impact on the education quality in Jorhat, Assam. Bharti Airtel Foundation directly trained 82 resource persons, who then cascaded the training to over 5,900 Heads of Schools and teachers. This training enabled teachers and school leaders to develop annual plans with SMART goals and action steps tailored to specific needs. Furthermore, the training facilitated the implementation of effective teaching methods, benefiting over 90,000 students in more than 1,160 Government Schools in the district. As a result, students were able to learn in a more interactive and stimulating environment, ensuring access to quality education through the program.</p>



<p>Bharti Airtel Foundation’s Quality Support Program State Partnerships focuses on training resource persons /master trainers, who further empower Heads of the Schools and Teachers to enhance the overall schooling experience for the children. At the recent program culmination and award ceremony, 1,167 schools showcased their school&#8217;s vision, mission, action plan, and accomplishments. The event provided a valuable learning opportunity as schools shared their best practices. Parash Goswami, District Program Officer of Teacher Training &amp; Pedagogy, SSA Jorhat along with Jonali Kataky, District Program Officer of SSA Jorhat, and Manish Thakur, Block Elementary Education Officer, Jorhat felicitated five schools with Best School Award and three Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators for their efforts in establishing their clusters as Best Clusters.</p>



<p><strong>Best Schools Awarded: </strong>Mohbondha Bagan LP from Mohbondha Cluster, Jorhat; SPB GIRLS HSS from Dhekiajuli Cluster, Titabor; 107 No. Nowboisha LPS from Potiagaon Cluster, North West Block; Chumoimara LPS from Lahowal Cluster, East Block and 157 No. Bamkukurachowa LP, Madhya Chowkhat (A) Cluster, Central Block.</p>



<p><strong>Best Clusters Awarded </strong>(Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators were the representatives)<strong>: </strong>Sabita Mazumder Talukdar, Mohbondha Cluster, Jorhat Block; Nipon Saikia, Baligaon Cluster, Northwest Block and Arun Konwar, Turung Cluster Titabor Block.</p>

<p><strong>KOLKATA:</strong> The West Bengal Government, in collaboration with Microsoft and Tech Avant-Garde, has successfully trained and certified over 100,000 teachers in digital skilling through the Microsoft Educator Program. The program covered topics such as Hybrid Learning 3.0, 21st Century Learning Tools for Educators, Microsoft O365 tools, and Social Connect. This initiative is aimed at transforming education in the state and making schools future-ready.</p>



<p>West Bengal is the first state in India to have trained and certified more than one lakh teachers in digital skilling. The state is proud to announce a grand Graduation Day ceremony on November 16th for its educators who have completed the Digital Skilling course Microsoft Educator (ME). This event will encourage many educators to become digitally skilled, not only in the state but across the country.</p>



<p>The Secretary to the School Education Department &amp; State Project Director, West Bengal Samagra Siksha Mission &#8211; Mr. Subhra Chakraborti (IAS) said, &#8220;Teachers are primary stakeholders of education; they are the ones who transform nations. With our teachers getting trained on digital skills, it will start a new era of education, following the footsteps of innovators such as Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore.&#8221;</p>



<p><strong>Dr. Vinnie Jauhari, World Wide Public Sector Senior Education Industry Advisor from Microsoft</strong> said, &#8220;<em>I am thrilled to see the dedication of West Bengal&#8217;s educators in embracing modern tools and techniques.
