<p><strong>PUNE:</strong> Punekars enjoyed the monsoon special tones of Raag Malhar with mesmerizing Sitar and Vocal renditions at the 9th edition of Swara-Malhar Mahotsav. Swara Zankar organizes Swara-Malhar Mahotsav and this year it is being held at 3 different venues spread across June and July.  </p>



<p>The first day of the Mahotsav took place on 28th June at the Bal Shikshan Prashala’s MES Auditorium, Mayur Colony Kothrud. The Mahotsav began with &#8216;Malhar Ke Rang&#8217; wherein Rashmi Moghe, Suranjan Khandalkar, Shubham Khandalkar, Shruti Deshpande-disciple of Padma Deshpande, and Sai Panchal disciple of Pt Sanjeev Abhyankar presented blissful vocals. Pandurang Pawar accompanied them on Tabla and Amey Bichu on Harmonium.<br><br>In the second half, internationally acclaimed sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee of the Senia Meher Gharana struck a chord with the audience with his electrifying performance. Purbayan Chatterjee was accompanied by Tanay Rege on Tabla. Rajesh Damle moderated the program.</p>



<p>This year the festival has been supported by Oerlikon Balzers, Suhana, Vilas Javadekar Developers, PNG Jewellers, Lokmanya Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Willow, The Nature, and so on.</p>

<p><strong>PUNE:</strong> Punekar’s were left spellbound with the magic created by legendary and young promising artists from the world of Hindustani Classical Music at the 10th Edition of Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav. This year’s festival was held from 23rd to 25th February at Mahalaxmi Lawns, Karve Nagar, near Rajaram Bridge. Organized by Natya Sampada Pratishthan, the festival is held as a tribute to Gaanasaraswati Padma Vibhushan Kishori Amonkar’s immense contribution to the field of Indian Classical Music.</p>



<p>Day one saw the captivating performances by the young trio &#8211; Abhay Nayampally on Carnatic Guitar, Manas Kumar on Violin, and Ishaan Ghosh on Tabla followed by an exhilarating performance by Kaushiki Chakraborty. The day concluded with the soulful performance of flutist Pt. Ronu Majumdar. Day one also witnessed the felicitation of Abhay Nayampally, Manas Kumar, and Ishaan Ghosh with the &#8216;Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar Yuva Puraskar’ The award format was a cash of ₹15000/- each along with a memento and a citation.</p>



<p>Day two saw some enthralling performances of Vidushi Aarti Ankalikar Tikekar, Saurabh Kadgaonkar along with an electrifying performance of Niladri Kumar on Sitar. On the second day Pt. Nana Mule from Mumbai and Pt. Ranga Pai from Manipal were honored with the ‘Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar Sangatkar Award’. It comprised a cash award of ₹25,000 along with a memento and a citation.</p>



<p>Day three was split into two sessions. The morning session captivated the audience with the vocal rendition of Jashan Bhumkar, the mesmerizing dual violin notes of Pt Milind Raikar and Yadnesh Raikar, and the vocals of Pt. Jayateerth Mevundi. The final session of the festival began with well-known Santoor player Dr Shantanu Gokhale followed by the mystical Kathak dance recital by Sharvari Jamenis.</p>



<p>The evening also witnessed the ‘Gaanatapaswini Mogubai Kurdikar Award’ which was presented to Padma Bhushan Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt for his continuous and commendable musical service. The award consisted of a cash prize of ₹51,000/- along with a memento and citation.</p>



<p>On the occasion Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt performed on his own creation, the Mohan Veena along with his disciple and son Pt Salil Bhatt, who accompanied him on Satvik Veena, also a creation of Pt. Mohan Bhatt. The 10th Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav concluded with the regal rendition of Pt Raghunandan Panshikar.</p>



<p>The compering on all three days was jointly done by Milind Kulkarni and Vighnesh Joshi.</p>

<p><strong>PUNE:</strong> This year’s ‘Vatsalabai Joshi Award’ instituted by the Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal will be presented to Patiala Gharana’s veteran Vocalist, Padma Vibhushan Begum Parveen Sultana. This was announced by Shrinivas Joshi; Executive President, Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal.</p>



<p>“<em>Every year since 2007, this award is given to the artists who have made valuable contributions in the field of Indian classical music. The award is in the form of Rs 51,000/- cash and a memento. This year it will be presented to Begum Parveen Sultana during the upcoming 69th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav that will be held at the Sports Complex of Maharashtriya Mandal at Mukund Nagar, opposite Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth from 13th to 17th December,</em>” shared <strong>Shrinivas Joshi</strong>.</p>



<p>Every year a special photo exhibition is organized at the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav’s venue on the theme related to the artists from the Indian Classical music. While sharing the information about this year’s photo exhibition, renowned photographer <strong>Satish Paknikar</strong> said, “<em>This year’s photo exhibition will be titled ‘Swar-Chitra Aadaranjali.’ A section of this exhibition will be dedicated to Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Pt. Ram Marathe, and Pt. C R Vyas as a part of their centenary year celebration. Along with this, another section will be dedicated to the artists who have performed extraordinarily at the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav but passed away in the last few years. The third section of this photo exhibition will be devoted to Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi expressing his affection for other artists along with great artists of the Kirana Gharana</em>.”</p>

This festival is all set to take place from 27th to 29th October, at the Balshikshan Mandir, MES Auditorium, Kothrud from 5 pm onwards on the first day (27th October) and at the Ganesh Kala Krida Ranga Manch from 6 pm onwards on the second and third day (28th and 29th October)</p>

<p>The first day of this musical fiesta namely ‘Taal Chakra Yuva’ will commence with the performance of Sagar Patokar and Rohit Thakur’s&nbsp;Tabla&nbsp;Duet accompanied by Abhishek Shinkar on&nbsp;Harmonium. The second session ‘Sur Suranjan’ will include Suranjan Khandalkar and Sharayu Date’s performances accompanied by Pandurang Pawar on Tabla, Abhijit Bhade on Drums, Shruti Bhave on Violin, and Rahul Kulkarni on Keyboard.</p>



<p>The second day of ‘Taal Chakra’ (28th October) will begin with ‘Taal Dindi’ including the renditions of Padma Shri Pt. Vijay Ghate (Tabla) and Pt. Dr. Ram Deshpande (Vocal), Amar Oak (Flute), Sheetal Kolwalkar (Kathak), Gandhar Deshpande (Vocal), Omkar Dalvi (Pakhawaj), and Abhishek Shankar (Harmonium). The second session will see a presentation by Sitar Maestro and Music Composer Niladri Kumar on Surbahar, Sitar, and Zitar accompanied by Padma Shri Pt. Vijay Ghate on Tabla, Sridhar Parthasarthy on Mridangam, Angelo Fernandes on Keyboard, and Mukul Dongre on Drums.</p>



<p>The last day of this festival will commence with the performance of Amaan Ali Bangash, representative of the 7th Generation of a musical lineage known as Senia Bangash School and son and disciple of the great Sarod Maestro, Amjad Ali Khan along with Pt. Kumar Bose, awardee of Sangeet Natak Akademi and disciple of Pt. Kishan Maharaj of the Banaras Gharana. The festival will conclude with a renowned vocalist, grandson of Pt. Vasantrao Deshpande and a recipient of National Film Award &#8211; Rahul Deshpande’s enthralling ‘Fusion 2023’ accompanied by Milind Kulkarni on Harmonium, Anay Gadgil on Keyboard, Sarang Kulkarni on Sarod and Ishaan Ghosh on Tabla.</p>

<p>“<em>Through the medium of this musical program, we have come together to inaugurate Kirana Sangeet Gurukul. Music enthusiasts will get an opportunity to not only learn classical music but also get trained under significant Gurus for Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya exams and also get trained in terms of presentation</em>,” announced <strong>Pt. Shrinivas Joshi, President of Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal</strong>.</p>



<p>Ashwini Modak, a renowned vocalist, and a student of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Prabha Atre started the program with ‘Raag Puriya Dhanashree.’ She also presented ‘Taal Dadra’ in ‘Raag Des’ and was accompanied by Gangadhar Shinde (Harmonium), Kishor Korde (Tabla), and Akanksha Desai (Tanpura).</p>



<p>Dharwad’s acclaimed Sitar artist Ustad Rais Bale Khan also performed at the program. He played Alap, Jod, Jhala in ‘Raag Janasammohini’ and was accompanied by Kishor Korde (Tabla).</p>



<p>Shrinivas Joshi, son of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi concluded the program with ‘Sumaran To Ro, Tu Rahim Tu Karim’ – a Vilambit Teentaal in ‘Raag Yaman’, ‘Mori Gagri Naav’ a Khyaal and ‘Boli Na Bol’ a Bhairavi. He was accompanied by Gangadhar Shinde (Harmonium), Kishor Korde (Tabla), and Viraj Joshi (Tanpura).</p>

<p><strong>PUNE:</strong> City-based Suhana Basant Foundation and Kannada Sangha, Pune are jointly organizing Sitar Nawaz Ustad Bale Khan Music Festival on July 1st and 2nd at the Shakuntala Shetty Auditorium, Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School at Ganesh Nagar. Entry to this program is free on a first come first serve basis. The program will start at 5:00 pm on the first day and at 3:30 pm on the second day. This is the 5th edition of this music festival which is organized in memory of Ustad Bale Khan, who significantly contributed to establishing Sitar in the southern part of the country.</p>



<p>On July 1st, the program will start at 5:00 pm and will begin with the performance of Bhimanna Jadhav (Sundri). His son Venkatesh Kumar and Dr. Atul Kamble (Tabla) will accompany him. Vidushi Kalpana Zokarkar (Vocal) will perform with Bharat Kamat (Tabla) and Suyog Kundalkar (Harmonium). The first day will conclude with the Sitar recital of Ustad Usman Khan. Pandit Ravindra Yavgal on Tabla.</p>



<p>Sangeet Natak Academy award winners including Ustad Usman Khan, Pandit Vinayak Torvi, Pandit Ravindra Yavgal, Vidhushi Aarti Anklikar Tikekar, and Pandit Uday Bhavalkar will be felicitated at the hands of noted industrialist Dr. Abhay Firodia on the first day of the event. Kannada Sangha trustees including President Kushal Hegde, Secretary Malti Kalmadi, and Vice President Indira saliyan would also be present on the occasion.</p>



<p>Day 2 (July 2nd) will start at 3:30 pm with the performance of renowned vocalist from the Bhendi Bazar Gharana Anuradha Kuberm which will be followed by Pandit Uday Bhavalkar&#8217;s Vocal performance. Jugalbandi between Ustad Rafiq Khan (Sitar) and Abhishek Lahiri (Sarod) would take place thereafter. The festival will end with Pandit Vinayak Torvi&#8217;s performance.</p>

<p><strong>PUNE: </strong>City-based Prerna Music Organization and G H Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation are organizing a unique program titled &#8216;Kanada Ke Prakar &#8211; Sangeet Sandhya&#8217; on June 30th at 5:30 pm at the MES Auditorium, BSM School Campus, Mayur Colony, Kothrud, Pune. Entry to this program is free on a first come first serve basis.</p>



<p>The program will attempt to unfold various facets of Kanada Raag through various mediums like Vocal, Musical Instruments, Painting, and Classical Dance. Some Bhajans having the base of the Kanada Raag will also be performed on occasion. The program will also include Bandish, Trivat, Tarane, Sargam, Gazal, and some film songs.</p>



<p>The program is conceptualized and is being presented by renowned vocalist Saniya Patankar. Other artists who will perform during this program include Madhuri Apte (Kathak), Pandit Saptarshi Hajra (Sitar), Aashay Kulkarni (Tabla), Ameya Bichu (Harmonium), Aman Warkhedkar (Keyboard), Anurag Joshi (Flute) and Vasudha Kulkarni (Painting). Swati Prabhu Mirashi will play the anchor for the program.</p>
