World Police & Fire Games are considered to be the Olympics for the police force globally. Going against all odds, Chauddhary faced his toughest opponent in the semi-finals. He faced the defending world champion Jessi Sahota in a nail-biting tussle. Chauddhary defeated Sahota by a score of 11-08.
In the final match, Chauddhary crushed his opponent J. Helinger from the USA by taking a mammoth lead of 10 points eventually winning the final match by a score of 11-01.

Hailing from Saigaon Bagli village in the Chalisgaon district of Jalgaon, Chauddhary is currently working as an Additional Superintendent of Police in the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Pune Division, in Maharashtra and is already a Three Time Maharashtra Kesari Champion & a National Gold Medalist with several other titles under his name.

Chauddhary was kept in a bio bubble by his coach Hindkesari Rohit Patel and was training as per the Canadian time zone for several months at the Mamasaheb Mohol Wrestling Complex in Katraj, Pune.

Vijay Chauddhary, already a senior & a respected wrestler in the state of Maharashtra has now turned out to be the new Wrestling Sensation of India by winning gold for the nation at the world championship.

Speaking about his victory, Chauddhary quoted, “A few months ago, I won the gold medal for the Maharashtra state police force. That day I decided that I have to win a gold medal for my country at the world police games. Today all my hard work has paid off as I have made my country proud.“

“This win was only possible because of the constant support by my Senior Police Officers from the Maharashtra State Police Department, my family, my well-wishers, and by god’s grace,” stated Chauddhary.

Chauddhary added that he dedicates this victory to every police official of India who serves the society by putting the nation first. He dedicates this gold medal to the entire Indian Police Force.

ACP Vijay Chauddhary will compete in the Open ‘125 KG’ and is training with his coach Rohit Patel, a winner of the ‘Hind Kesari’ title. Chauddhary is training for three hours in the morning and about two hours in the evening at the Mamasaheb Mohol Kusti Sankul in Katraj.

“I am training with a lot of intensity for the upcoming Police Games where I expect stiff competition from wrestlers from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh,” said Chauddhary, who won the most prestigious ‘Maharashtra Kesari’, three successive times in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

“I have got special permission from the Director General of Police’s office for my training and received co-operation from senior officials from Pune Police,” quipped Chauddhary.

The senior police officer is only the second wrestler to win three successive Maharashtra Kesari titles.

Chauddhary did not have a successful outing in the 2019 edition of the All India Police Games held in Haryana and hence wants to stamp his authority in the upcoming Games, which will be held after two years of COVID-19 forced break.

“During the morning training, I focus on mat training along with how to topple the opponent. Special focus is also given to stamina and power work. The evening practice is dedicated to mat training and yoga,” he stressed.

His coach Rohit Patel is confident of a good show by his ward.
