Bangalore: The National Tourism Awards have recognized Taj West End, Bangalore as the ‘Best Luxury Hotel’ in the country at the recently concluded award ceremony that took place in New Delhi. General Manager, Mr. Somnath Mukherjee, received the prestigious award on behalf of the hotel from The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind on September 27, 2017. National Tourism Awards have always settled its roots in the hands of high-end organizations and achievers who have made ‘top notch’ their style of work, service and dedication. Of having the honor, to collect an award so prestigious by the President of the country, makes it all the more special.
On the occasion, Mr. Somnath Mukherjee, General Manager, Taj West End, Bangalore, said, “It’s a very proud moment for us at Taj West End, Bangalore. This recognition is yet another feather to the 130-year-old legacy of our hotel. Built in 1887, The Taj West End is the oldest hotel in Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India. Standing tall for the last 130 years, the iconic Taj West End has carefully preserved the richness of old world charm and colonial architecture, amalgamating it with modern amenities, a distinctive outdoor bar and multi-cuisine specialty restaurants, personalized service, and rooms and suites spread over 19-acres of landscaped greenery.
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India presents National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry annually. These awards are presented to State Governments / Union Territories, classified hotels, heritage hotels, approved travel agents, tour operators, tourist transport operators, individuals and other private organizations in recognition of their performance in their respective fields. The National Tourism Awards have, over the years emerged as a prestigious recognition of achievements in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. The date for the Awards function was selected to coincide with World Tourism Day which is celebrated annually on 27th September. The purpose of World Tourism Day celebrations is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.
