Pune: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always been at the forefront of driving various sustainability initiatives aimed at resource conservation by relentlessly spreading awareness around the same to facilitate a greener world. Upholding this commitment, Tata Power today participated in a cleanliness drive in Lonavala, in line with Shri Narendra Modi’s national level campaign, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The cleanliness drive, organised by Lonavala Municipal Corporation, saw the enthusiastic participation of Tata Power employees.
The objective of this initiative was to reinforce the significance of a clean environment on the communities, as well as to inculcate a sense of consciousness amongst the locals towards natural resources. More than 90 employees volunteered for the drive. The company received great appreciation from Mr. Saurabh Rao, Collector, Pune for volunteering and participating in the drive.
According to Mr. Ashok Sethi, COO and Executive Director, Tata Power, said, “Tata Power has always strived to be a responsible company by being sensitive towards the communities and environments in and around its areas of operation. We believe that cleanliness is next to godliness and, hence, we go beyond the call of duty and take the responsibility to clean the environment. I am thankful to all our employees for their enthusiastic participation in the cleanliness drive.”
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) is a national level campaign by the Government of India, covering 4,041 statutory towns to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country.
Tata Power employees participate in a number of volunteering activities covering various social and environmental causes throughout the year; which benefits the society and demonstrates a positive organisational culture.
