Pune/Lonavala: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility, has always undertaken numerous initiatives to ensure the holistic development of communities living in and around its operational sites. Keeping up with this commitment and under Education excellence program, Tata Power provided infrastructural support to schools in Maval village of Maharashtra.
The objective of the initiative was to promote quality education and help enrich the learning environment of the children. The local schools of Maval were deprived of basic essentials which impacted the attendance of students and quality education in the schools. To correct this limitation, Tata Power took up the responsibility of building classrooms, toilet blocks and construction of drinking water tank. This initiative benefitted more than 2875 school students, providing them a safer environment to learn and grow.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Ashok Sethi, COO and ED, Tata Power, said “A successful society is the one that provides quality education to its future generation with the best infrastructure.
It’s a proud moment for us to support these schools thereby enabling the school students to receive better education which will help them to excel in their lives. We would like to thank the village panchayat for giving us this opportunity to undertake this initiative. We will continue to support such efforts that will bring positive change in the society.”
The initiative included construction of six Classrooms in five Schools, five Toilet Blocks in four Middle Secondary Schools, ten Green Toilets in five Zilla Parishad Primary Schools and construction of drinking water tank with capacity 2500 and 5000 litres in 9 Zilla Parishad schools. Tata Power also provided study materials and painting equipment for the Angawadi Schools under Education Excellence program.
