Joda: Joda East Iron Mine (JEIM) of Tata Steel has been conferred with the Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award for the year 2017 for driving innovation in mines. The award was received by Mr Debashis Jena, Chief Joda, Tata Steel from Mr Karan Singh Thakral, Ambassador of Singapore to Denmark and Mr Jawed Ashraf, IFS, High Commissioner of India to Singapore at Institute of Directors India’s 2nd Global Convention held at Singapore on December 14, 2017.
On receiving the award, Mr Pankaj Satija, General Manager (Ore Mines & Quarries), Tata Steel said: “It is a matter of pride and honour to receive the Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award 2017. We make every attempt to adopt best practices, modern technologies and innovation to ensure that our mining activities are efficient and sustainable having a positive impact on the triple bottom line. This recognition is a testimony to our commitment in pursuing excellence across our operations.”
Joda East Iron Mine of Tata Steel is one of the fully mechanized captive iron mines of Tata Steel. It is rated five star category mines by the Government of India for doing sustainable mining. The mine has developed an integrated Total Quality Management framework that provides a structured approach to improvement across the value chain. Some of the innovations implemented in JEIM include digitization in excavation of iron ore, use of iron waste for sustainable mining. Spurred by the spirit of innovation, Tata Steel is dedicated to developing new technologies and designing solutions that help transform processes, improve inefficiencies and enhance customer experience.
