Jamshedpur: Tata Steel today paid homage to Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhai Tata on the occasion of his 111th birth anniversary. Various events were held at different locations.
SONARI AIRPORT
JRD Tata, the man who gave wings to the nation was extremely passionate about flying and laid the foundation of civil aviation in India. As a tribute to this, a thematic exhibition on JRD Tata and his passion for flying, showcasing the philosophy of the pioneering industrialist, was held at Sonari Airport by Tata Steel’s Aviation department. The special program also included an Aero-modeling show and static display of Aircrafts.
Chief Guest for the occasion, Mrs Ruchi Narendran paid homage to the legend and said, “JRD Tata touched the lives of countless people, as he became the embodiment of the principles and philosophy of the House of Tata. We are hugely privileged to reap the benefits of his hard work and dedication to the group. The activities and programmes organised in our various locations are a small tribute to JRD Tata, one of the country’s finest visionaries’.
JRD TATA INTER SCHOOL QUIZ
An inter school Annual Quiz competition was also organised at Michael John Auditorium, Jamshedpur. A total of 30 schools and nearly 250 students participated in the competition. The Quiz was conducted by Mr.Lloyd Saldanha of Grey Caps Agency. Jayant Krishna & Subhojit Mahato from Loyola school came first in the competition whereas Kautuk Raj & Salman Khan from Rajendra Vidyala and Asit Kumar & Aryan Kumar from SDSM School of Excellence secured second and third spots respectively. The prizes to the winners were given by Mrs.Ruchi Narendran who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
SPORTS DEPARTMENT
The Sports department of Tata Steel organised a Cross Country race today for different age groups under categories – Junior Boys, Senior Boys, Junior Girls and Senior Girls. The participants were employees of Tata Steel and and Jogga schools. Over 6000 school children and 125 employees of Tata Steel participated in the event. An inter school Archery Competition was also organised at JRD Tata Sports Complex. Table Tennis and Carrom tournament was also organized for the employees of Tata Steel at Kalinganagar on 28th and 29th July, 2015

Tata Steel’s Urban Services department organized ‘Inter Centre Slow Cycling Competition’ to mark the 111th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna J.R.D. Tata today near Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur.
EXHIBITION ON JRD TATA AT CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE (CFE)
An exhibition on the life and times of JRD Tata has been organised at CFE from July 29th till July 31st, 2015. This exhibition is open to the public between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm on each of the days.
