Tata Consultancy Services Achieves Top Position for Second Consecutive Year for its Employee-friendly Workplace Practices and Continued Investments in Local Talent in the UK
London | Mumbai, February 08, 2019: Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, has been ranked as Britain’s Number One Top Employer for the second consecutive year, by the Top Employer Institute.
The certification recognises TCS’ employee-friendly workplace practices and continued investments in building up local talent in the UK through professional development initiatives and digital skills programs. A variety of initiatives, such as Rising Stars, Emerging Leaders and Leadership Exchange facilitate personal and professional development at every level in the organisation. Ongoing employee engagement and mentorship programs are further complemented by the use of digital technologies. These initiatives have contributed to a 92% staff retention rate in the UK, benchmarked as the best in the industry.
A highly engaged and motivated workforce has also contributed to TCS’ market success in the UK. In addition to strong revenue growth, the outstanding quality of the work done by its delivery teams has resulted in TCS being named UK’s Number One IT services organisation for customer satisfaction in a large independent survey of 240 CXOs.
“Our customers rely on our employees’ consultative approach and best-in-class digital skills to power their Business 4.0™ transformations,” commented Shankar Narayanan, VP and Head, UK and Ireland, TCS. “As the country’s Top Employer, we strive to make our UK workplaces inclusive, our employees feel valued and to enable their skill development and career growth.”
For the last many years, TCS has been investing in a range of social programmes within the UK that offers employee volunteers opportunities to give back to their local communities. TCS’ award winning IT Futures programme aims to nurture the IT talent of tomorrow, and focuses on young people in schools, colleges and universities, as well as their influencers – teachers, parents, and peers. Working closely with charities, social enterprises, and TCS employees, IT Futures has already reached over 300,000 students directly since its launch in 2013, with participation from over 1600 TCS employee volunteers. As part of this initiative, TCS has been hosting successful Digital Explorers events.
David Plink, CEO, Top Employers Institute, said, “Investment in the workforce is now commonplace in most successful companies around the globe. We’ve seen many important examples of employee learning and development initiatives by thousands of industry leaders, and once again, we’re proud to award Tata Consultancy Services the UK Top Employers certification, as well as the Global Top Employers certification.
