Videocon, the leading consumer electronics brand with one of the largest indigenous manufacturing in the country, added another symbol of recognition, by bagging the second position at the prominent State Level Award for Excellence in Energy Conservation and Management, for its manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Organised by Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA), the award aims at giving national recognition to companies who have made significant contributions in following the best energy conservative practices and lowering the carbon footprint. Shri Chandrasekhar Bhawankule, Minister of Energy, Energy and Renewable Energy, Government of Maharashtra presented the award to Videocon.
On receiving the prestigious award Mr. Abhijit Kotnis, Chief Manufacturing and Sourcing officer, Videocon, said, “We feel proud to be recognized as one of the most energy efficient brands by the reputed board of MEDA. The Company’s passion and commitment will continue towards adopting and following energy efficient practices. Reducing carbon footprints is the call of the hour and even small changes can create big impacts on the environment, and inspire others to follow suit.”
Videocon’s Aurangabad facility is a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit that focuses on energy efficiency and sustainability, and utilizes non-renewable sources of energy for day-to-day operations. Equipped with LED lights instead of high power conventional lights, 5-star air conditioners that efficiently utilizes energy, solar power panels to draw renewable energy, to name a few, reduces the burden on energy consumption. In order to create awareness around energy efficiency, Videocon regularly organizes training programs and implements reward and recognition system to increase involvement of all employees in such conservation programs. Projects based on VRP (Value re-engineering process), VRT (Value re-engineering task) and LE (Loss Elimination) are created which help review the results in a structured way. For target setting and monitoring, online energy monitoring systems have also been Installed and displayed in all area of the campus.
Videocon follows these energy saving practices across all its offices and manufacturing units in the country.
