The World Mental Health Day special episode on FM Rainbow with Viveck Shettyy, was a revelation of sorts to a vast majority of listeners and was very well received and appreciated. Yogi, Motivational Speaker and Mystic Vivek Shettyy literally took the listeners on a riveting journey as he clarified the existential truth of mental wellness and mental illness.
He opined that unfortunately most people are on an average utilizing only 5 percent of their Mind capacity in their lifetime and they have presumed this to be wellness and absolutely normal.”Complete optimum utilization of the mind in a joyous environment is what Mental Wellness is all about. Peak potential and not mere survival is Wellness”, observed Viveck Shettyy, Speaking about mental illness he stated that while we have voluntary control over almost every other organ in our body, the mind is largely not in control. He further elaborated that while we can switch our mobile phones and laptops on and off as per our requirements, a large part of mankind are not able to do that with their mind; in fact, quite the reverse is true and very often intelligence gets hijacked by a series of emotions like anger, frustration, anxiety, fear and a lot more. This he explained is a consequence of not paying attention to the most important gadget in our life, The Human Mind.
This particular episode of FM rainbow also gave the listeners some fascinating insights into practical methods and basic steps of achieving mastery over the human mind. Viveck Shettyy drew the attention of the listeners to the profound understanding of the word ‘Stillness’ and urged them to practice deep breathing for at least 5 to 10 minutes in the morning, as the first step towards mastery over the mind. He further emphasized the importance of an erect spine to ensure attention, awareness, and intelligence is at its peak.
