Pune: Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), a constituent of Symbiosis International University (SIU) organized the XVIIIth National Seminar on “Hospital & Healthcare Management, Medico- Legal Systems & Clinical Research” on 6th & 7th May 2016.
The Seminar was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Mr. Thumbay Moideen (Founder President, Thumbay Group, UAE); Guest of Honour, Adv. Ram Jethmalani (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha) and presided over by Padmabhushan Dr. S B Mujumdar (Founder President, Symbiosis & Chancellor, SIU). Dr. S.B. Mujumdar mentioned that as per statistics, India is lagging behind in the healthcare delivery. He emphasized that every healthcare professional should work in the direction of taking India ahead. Adv. Ram Jethmalani spoke on medical ethics and urged all professionals to swear to be ethical while practicing.
The Seminar included sessions by Mr. Shushobhan Dasgupta (MD, India, Johnson & Johnson) from the medical devices industry on Successful Healthcare Models, Dr. Nagesh Rao (President, MICA) on Healthcare Communications, and Dr. Arvind Lal (Chairman, Lal Path Lab) on Emerging Trends in Diagnostic Care.
The proceedings on the 7th May 2016 included sessions on Quality & Accreditation- National & International Models by Dr. Prabhu Vinayagam (Managing Director, Asia Pacific, JCI) whereas Mr. Vishal Bali (Co-founder and Chairman, Medwell Ventures) outlined the rising concept of Home Health Care.
The Valedictory Ceremony concluding the two days mega event was graced by Hon’ble Minister Dr. Ranjit Patil (Minister of State Home (Urban), Urban Development, General Administration, Law & Judiciary & Parliamentary Affairs). The Guest of Honour for the ceremony was Lt. Gen. Akhil Nagpal (AVSM, VSM, Commandant, AFMC, Pune). The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Rajani Gupte (Vice Chancellor, SIU) and Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar (Principal Director, Symbiosis). Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar stated that it is the dream & ambition of Symbiosis to produce excellent and ethical professionals. The Hon’ble Minister spoke during the occasion about the rapid transitions happening in the medical field. He concluded by emphasizing the role of Symbiosis in giving back to the Society and gave his good wishes for all future projects of Symbiosis.
