Bengaluru: Do you have a passport? Then check it and take necessary steps as your passport might be cancelled soon post this Diwali.
Passport Seva Kendra earlier had issued a notice which stated that Indians, who are holding handwritten passports, will have to apply for a new one.
All handwritten passports will be invalid after Nov 25, 2015. Residents of the country, even though they are staying abroad, need to re-issue their passport if they are holding handwritten passport.
Those whose passports with 20-year validity extend beyond Nov 25, 2015, will also have to renew their passports.
Such handwritten passports were issued til 2001. People having handwritten passports will not be given visas as such passports are being phased out in many countries across the world.
Countries, which come under International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will not issue visas to those Indian residents who are holding handwritten passports.
