PUNE: Music aficionados are in for an enchanting treat with ‘Gangadhar Swarotsav 2024’, a three-day music extravaganza organized by the disciple of Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty- Amol Nisal’s ‘Swarninad’ in the memory of his Guru. Late Pt. Gangadharbua Pimpalkhare. This is the 9th year of the festival and will be held at Muktangan Balaranjan Kendra, Sahakarnagar-Pune, from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th of January 2024, 6 pm onwards. The first day will begin with a soulful Sarangi performance by Murad Ali, the torchbearer of a family of Sarangi players from the Moradabad Gharana. He received training from his grandfather Siddiqi Ahmed Khan and father Ghulam Sabir Kha- both well-known Sarangi players. The Saragi performance will be followed by a solo vocal performance of Pt. Jaytheerth Mevundi of the Kirana Gharana and disciple of Vocalist Shripati Padegar who was in turn a disciple of Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.

Day two will witness the melodious Flute performance of flutist sisters Debopriya and Suchismita Chatterjee who received their flute training under the tutelage of Pt. Bholanath Prasanna. This will be followed by a performance of Amol Nissal.

The third day will begin with a santoor recital by Dr. Shantanu Gokhale, a disciple of Padma Vibhushan Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma followed by a solo dance by Kathak exponent Rujuta Soman. Rujuta Soman received her kathak training from the legendary dancer Pandita Rohini Bhate. Gangadhar Swarotsav 2024 will conclude with the performance of Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, a disciple of Padma Vibushan Kishori Amonkar, who belongs to Jaipur-Atroli Gharana.

All these artists will be accompanied by Ramdas Palsule, Ishan Ghosh, Karthik Swami, Bharat Kamat, Yashwant Vaishnav, Pandurang Pawar, and Nikhil Harishchandrakar on Tabla along with Milind Kulkarni and Suyog Kundalkar on Harmonium.
