PUNE: COEP TECH is the nation’s premier and one of the oldest institutions known for high standards in engineering education. To further strengthen and elevate its capabilities at national and international forums Pune’s COEP Tech University, formerly known as the College of Engineering Pune, has set sail on a transformative journey, informed Dr Pramod Chaudhari in a media briefing session today. Spearheading this ambitious task, Dr. Chaudhari, who assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Governance in July this year, unveiled a strategic growth blueprint, outlining the university’s path toward academic excellence.

To facilitate this transformative journey, COEP Tech’s collaboration with KPMG, the globally renowned management consulting firm was also announced in the briefing. This partnership aims to harness KPMG’s expertise in the education sector to shape COEP Tech’s future. Present alongside Dr. Chaudhari at the briefing were Narayanan Ramaswamy, a partner at KPMG, Prof. Sudhir Agashe, Vice Chancellor, and R. D. N. Sonawane, Registrar of the COEP Tech University and Dr. Ravindra Utgikar.

Driven by fast-evolving business and societal needs and fuelled by the adoption of the National Education Policy (NEP) released by the Government of India in 2020, the educational landscape is changing at a rapid pace in the country. Pune, as the educational capital of India, has been consistently attracting students from across the nation and COEP Tech University remains a top-preferred destination for aspiring engineers.

Dr. Chaudhari emphasized that COEP Tech University’s partnership with KPMG holds great promise. KPMG, with a stellar track record in the education domain, has previously collaborated with leading national and international universities on transformational projects. Currently, KPMG is working closely with senior officials and faculty members of COEP Tech University in a diagnostic phase, seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the institution’s strengths, capabilities, and aspirations, among other aspects.

Based on the insights gathered during this diagnostic phase, a time-bound action plan with clearly defined priorities will be formulated during the implementation phase. While the diagnostic phase is expected to conclude by the end of November, specific timelines for the implementation phase will be determined based on the outcomes and identified priorities.

Prof. Agashe highlighted the measures taken by COEP Tech University under Dr. Chaudhari’s guidance to enhance its governance framework. These measures include the institutionalization of standard operating procedures and compliance mechanisms. Additionally, various committees and advisory boards have been reconstituted to incorporate subject matter experts and industry veterans, ensuring the adoption of best practices.

Initiatives under this transformation drive will address issues like improving NIRF ranking and will set a benchmark to be amongst the Top quartile. Secondly, a conscious effort shall be made to reinforce the relationship with Bhau Institute by deriving synergies between the two, and thirdly, to make the new Chikhali campus of COEP Tech Varsity a world-class Research and innovation Park through strong linkages with global leaders in the engineering segment.

COEP Tech University’s transformative journey in collaboration with KPMG, marks a significant milestone in the institution’s pursuit of academic excellence and national recognition. As they navigate this path of transformation, COEP Tech remains committed to delivering world-class education and contributing to the development of the nation’s future engineers and innovators.
