MUMBAI: In a significant crackdown on counterfeit products, the Crime Branch Unit – IX in Bandra, Mumbai, conducted a successful raid on March 20th, 2024, resulting in the confiscation of counterfeit goods worth approximately 55,000 rupees.
The operation was initiated following a complaint lodged by Body Cupid Private Limited regarding suspected counterfeit products being sold under the brand name “WoW.” Acting upon this complaint, the case was referred to Sr. P.I. Dayanand Nayak, who oversaw the investigation led by Mr. Mahendra Patil (A.P.I.).
The raid, conducted at HK Wholesale and Retailers in Jogeshwari West, was executed meticulously with the assistance of Sujit Mhaisdhune (PSI) and a dedicated squad from unit 9. The team, comprised of P.C. Shri Koli, P.C. Shri Shelke, P.C. Shri Chaugule, P.C. Ms. Sawant, and P.C. Shri Zodage, ensured the operation’s success.
Following the raid, the accused suspected of involvement in the distribution of counterfeit products were apprehended. The accused were handed over to Mr. Sushantkumar Patil (P.S.I.) of Amboli Police Station for further investigation.
Currently, under the guidance of Jaywant Shinde (Sr. P.I.), the Amboli Police Station continues to delve into the matter, aiming to uncover the full extent of the counterfeit operation and bring those responsible to justice.
The successful raid serves as a testament to the commitment of law enforcement agencies in combating illicit activities and protecting consumers from fraudulent products. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety and integrity of consumer goods in the market.
