Oasis Fertility of Pune conducts Women Health Awareness Camp in association with Pune Obstetric and Gynecological Society (POGS) at Shirur

PUNE: Women play a key role in our lives but due to several responsibilities and commitments, they give the least priority to their health. As part of the Women’s Day celebration, Oasis Fertility, Pune conducted a health awareness camp headed by Dr. Nilesh Unmesh Balkawade, Clinical Head & Fertility Specialist, Oasis Fertility, Pune exclusively for women to create awareness about the importance of iron in a women’s diet in association with Pune Obstetric and Gynecological Society (POGS) and Vedanta Hospital, Shirur.

District Health Officer Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, Taluka Health Officer Dr. More, Mr. Prasad Borkar CO of Shirur Nagarparishad, District Community Mobilizer Kirti Tagad, and Taluka Community Mobilizer Diksha Jevughale graced the occasion.

Health Awareness Camp for women was an initiative by Oasis Fertility to mainly spread the importance of iron among women in rural areas. Several hundreds of women including Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Local Nagar Parishad workers, and many women from nearby villages participated in the camp. Hemoglobin tests were conducted and iron tablets were distributed to all of them.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Nilesh Unmesh Balkawade, Clinical Head and Fertility Specialist, Oasis Fertility, Pune stated, “Iron is a very essential nutrient as it helps in the production of red blood cells in our body and especially women need iron more as they tend to lose blood every month during the menstrual cycle. Iron deficiency during pregnancy can cause severe complications including premature birth, stillbirth, low birth weight, etc. Through this camp, we intend to create awareness about including iron in the diet”.
